  1. Anyone tried a barb/shifter? Berserker or standard barb? I'm not sure if the -5 Int will really hurt the shifting duration? But the fact that a shifter can't cast while shifted is not really a disadvantage because of the Int hit. Also, most importantly, does carnage work while shifted? If not, it's a pretty pointless build. Seems an awesomely cool combo from a roleplay point of view, kinda a skinchanger/shaman from the white that wends, who wears wolf pelts in order to change...
  2. i think it's supposed to be a gaze attack, so in theory it should be quick, but to me, it does seem bugged, I can't imagine that dominate is supposed to be instant cast, with no limitations on how many times it can be used. Because currently, one fampyr can perma dominate my entire party, which seems a tad silly.
  3. The narrative is a bit of a mess at the moment, and rather disappointing. Only person I can see being happy with what Eothas did is Rymrygand because I'm presuming that no wheel means no reincarnation, hence death is final. Which is what he wants. Not entirely sure though, it's just not well thought out at all from the writers side.
  4. There is a bug with retraining any character, multi or single. You will loose some abilities. I'd advise against retraining until the bug is sorted. Though it is possible that the bug is not consistent. Either way save before and count your stats and abilities after to confirm you didn't lose anything.
  5. Yes, while food and drink goes into your inventory, ammo, medicine and repair don't. Hence if you have, say180/200 ammo, and you order 200 you will have payed for considerably more ammo than you need and you will essentially lose the extra ammo as it is not stored in your inventory. So just order the correct amount roughy and you'll be fine...
  6. One fight I had with them, I had at least 2 party members out by being dominated at all time. And that was with Pellagina, so my experience is, yeah they do spam it. But I could be unlucky I guess.
  7. Yeah, while I despise caste systems, the alternatives are just as bad if not worse. And when you take into account that Deadfire is really the Huana's home as opposed to the other factions then I reckon it's actually pretty simple to support them. And colonization either at the point of a gun or by banking never seems to turn out well for the original inhabitants and as someone has mentioned already, there are signs that they might come right. They deserve a chance.
  8. Yeah as far I can figure with ammunition, repair and medicine, you need to be accurate with your order, the supplies don't go into the inventory, so you will lose what you don't need. Probably is a bug, but it isn't that serious tbh, all you have to do is type in the correct number and hit enter.
  9. Paladin worked in theory for me. In practice they were spamming charm/dominate so darn fast that if I blinked the character would be charmed again. It was absolutely insane, And I thought Fampyrs were a pain in the first game...
  10. Just some information. Games unless they are marketed and designed specifically to the gamergate crowd, do not do badly because of SJW influences. The people who complain bitterly about an attempt at making sure everyone is represented fairly are a minority. Actually a very small minority. Vocal, obnoxious, sure. But a minority nevertheless. In fact you can argue about the morals all you want, but it makes sense from a business sense for devs to court everyone, not just a small, bigoted group. Catering to gamergate, contrary to popular belief, will not keep them in business.
  11. Oh the horror of women actually having minds of their own. Seems like you just don't like any women unless they are barefoot and pregnant...
  12. Pretty poor actually. Enjoying the game, but too many plot holes, band aids, trying to make a square peg fit in a round hole issues. Not the best Obs have done. But having said that there are some good sides to the game, but not really from the writing. Potential yes, but there needed to be more consistency in well, everything. How the factions behave, how the gods changed from the first game to Deadfire, how some of the companions like Pellagina had a pre frontal lobotomy sometime between games. The handling of Kana and Meneha was really, really bad. Frankly I'd much rather have not had them in the game. The writing just needed to be much tighter than what it was, but as is, its pretty clear that it was a sideshow to the new game mechanics and open world. Which is a bit sad, there are companies out there that specialize in open world games like Bethesda, who can do a great job. Traditionally though, the writing was Obs strength.
  13. Nope no reason particularly. That was one of many problems I had when I heard they were continuing the watchers story from level one. To be honest the writing in Deadfire isn't really up to scratch. This is just one aspect of it. I think the game is fun and great for mindless entertainment, like many open world games but unfortunately the writing ain't what I want but expected.... still enjoying the game though. But like Storm of Zehir, it pushes the boundaries in some aspects but falls flat in others, namely the narrative.
  14. Nah, it's fine as is. There are enough crew who can max out there specializations, but not enough to diminish their value. It would be pointless if all crew could specialize you wouldn't need to make any decisions at all. As is,you need to think carefully about who to place in your crew. And you need both specialists and generalists.
  15. While arguing with Rymrgand, in a fit of anger at the gods, I told him to "go ahead and give me his best shot" SPLAT! End of one slightly passive aggressive watcher and complete party wipe. Game over....
  16. You can change chants during combat, depending on your needs. I find them fun personally , and between summoning or casting invocations they are active enough. The beauty of the class though, is if you want a more active play style you can also multi class. Heck, you can also go single class, going with a troubadour or skald. While it's not the most active class, you can keep yourself busy.
  17. If the DLC is properly loaded, as the first question, and just ask her to continue, about after the 2nd "Continue", she'll ask if you need any help (don't remember the exact words). You do not have to start a new game to gain access to this. You can even have spoken to her prior to getting the DLC. Seems like it's not installed properly for me, for some reason it's trying to install in my secondary GOG location and for some reason it's not possible to change the installation path on the DLC. Not sure what the problem is. Have you been to to deadlight before installing the dlc? I hadn't been there, downloaded the dlc, did the exploding piano quest as normal. I spoke to her as before the dlc. Then after Benweth exited stage left, I spoke to her and she mentioned Aeldys would kill her if she found out her part in Benweths death - until then, the dialogue hadn't changed, but as I said goodbye she suddenly asked if I had room on her ship. So either it's a Gog issue or it could be that you went to deadlight before downloading the dlc.... not sure.
  18. I gotta say I would rate beckoner higher than skald and on par with troubadour. The summons are fantastic, and though I under why people get bored with chanters I think they are great. Sadly, in my experience, none of the companions make good chanters... as far as I know they can't get the subclasses, or they have terrible stats, and I'm not a power gamer, so I mean really terrible. Best I guess, would be Pellagina as a paladin multiclass. Still love my single class boreal dwarf blacksmith/enchanter/beckoner. (Enchanter as in roleplaying.)
  19. Well the blade from Caed Nua is one handed? There is an excellent Poll Axe in Netekha, available fairly early - Dereo's quest. Where is the soul bound 2 handed weapon, I haven't found it
  20. Nice theory from the OP, but sadly it's pretty much going to remain a theory. Maybe if Obs and Paradox hadn't parted ways and Paradox was still their publisher, but as it stands it just ain't gonna happen.
  21. Definitely don't miss those days, only reason no one complained is that the gaming companies presumed everyone was a white male heterosexual... And if you weren't you just kept your mouth shut and pretended everything was hunky dory.
  22. Favorite has got to be Fort Deadlight. One of my favorite quests ever especially with the... explosive ending where you end up redecorating the court with Benweth. Havn't laughed so much at a game in a long time. Just an incredibly satisfying ending to a quest, and I'm sure it does wonders for the watchers reputation.
