  1. Yes, I have heard of that. But the reasons I chose to go for a Gamecube now are basically: 1) I haven't heard anything about a possible ability to play GBA titles via an add-on; 2) The price will likely be too high for me once it comes out; 3) I'd rather not wait until then to play some Gamecube titles which might be harder to get then; 4) Even if I do get a Revolution, I can always then sell the Cube (although I only see myself doing this if the GBA functionality is still there).
  2. And just ordered a Gamecube. I'm also looking into getting a GB Player unit so I can play Gameboy Advance titles on the Cube, and am already browsing for games. Top priorities for now are Metroid Prime and Wind Waker. For some reason I feel dirty. But I suspect it won't matter in some months from now.
  3. Shadowrun FPS so I can have something to bitch about.
  4. No compromises. Not even in Armageddon.
  5. Being away from the general gist of consoles for so long left me unable to answer this doubt. I've heard of something called a Gameboy Player for the Gamecube, which I assume lets me play Gameboy Advance games on the GCB. Let's assume I have a Nintendo Gamecube with a GB Player. Now, is the add-on limited to play versions from a given region such as the main console? I know there are incompatibility issues between games from different regions in regards to standard consoles, but that its absent from portable consoles... Would the same happen with the add-on, a USA GBA game and an European console? Thnx in advance.
  6. Super Castlevania 4 Super Contra Spirits Super Metroid Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island Seiken Densetsu 3 (search for Neil Corlett's translation) Batman Returns Rockman and Forte (Megaman and Bass; again, search for a translation) Romancing Saga 3 Chrono Trigger TMNT: Turtles in Time Zelda: A Link to the Past EVO: Search for Eden Final Fantasy VI Front Mission: Gun Hazard (another one you should look for a translation but its worth it) Assault Suits Valken (aka Cybernator) - (while its already available in English I suggest searching for the original Japanese rom and the Aeon Genesis translation) Wonder Project J (translated version at the Underdogs site in the Console/Non-PC uncderdogs) Actraiser 2 (hard-as-hell) The Adventures of Batman and Robin UN Squadron Demon's Crest (somewhat hard as well) Equinox The Firemen Any Parodius title (Konami parodi of their games) Uncharted Waters Ogre Battle / Tactics Ogre Pilotwings Pocky and Rocky 2 Prince of Persia R-Type 3: The Third Lightning Star Fox
  7. If the wait hasn't killed you already.
  8. But that wouldn't make people feel special!!!
  9. If you don't want to play as a Jedi! Then equip yourself with HEAVY ARMOR and only select Force powers which are restricted by Armor! Then you are no longer Jedi. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What he wants is the ability to play as distinct character archetypes rather than being forced to play as a Jedi, not overcome design limitations with parlor tricks. In a setting as vast as Star Wars, its an understandable wish although I doubt it'll ever come to that as long as the license is treated as another way to satisfy male adolescent fantasies.
  10. I enjoyed them both. Akira mostly, because I played little of Silent Hill, although what I managed to play was great. I've been meaning to get the PC ports but my PC is still mostly crippled gamewise.
  11. Nice images. Unfortunately I never got interested in F.E.A.R..
  12. I'm sure they'll all have trouble sleeping because of that.
  13. Grand Theft anything sounds more appealing than anything Star Wars right now.
  14. What? I'm the one lacking the rape port?
  15. Don't worry, neither can I.
  16. Correct. The X-Box 360 pic image is missing the rape port, the port especially designed for when you just want to screw the console. As for getting any next gen console, I can't be bothered to think about it now but if any of the previous consoles were any hint, I'd go with anything Sony or Nintendo has to offer. Sony for the large assemblage of third party developers who've found a new home with them, and Nintendo for some downright enjoyable, charming and exclusive titles they always seem to launch (Zelda and Metroid come to mind).
  17. Metroid Metroid 2 Super Metroid Metroid Fusion
  18. Not only what is generally passed off as "deep" and "immersive" open to debate, it's also quite secondary when it comes to overall importance. Japanese RPGs by and large feature storylines which many believe to be deep, complex and immersive - yet there's only a handful that actually succeed in allowing gamers to roleplay. A good story, or even a story for that matter, has dubious importance as far as games, and especially RPGs, go. All that's needed is a set of controls and objectives that point gamers in the right direction; for the most part a story is only there to give players a greater degree of illusion and to lull them into believing that they're not playing Glorified Dungeon Crawl #967. In regards to the roleplaying bit, back in the day where the pen and paper roleplaying games were coming around, they all suffered from poor stories with one dimensional characters - yet no one can deny roleplaying wasn't possible. It was there, and it was vast, simply because a player had infinite options open to him. And nowadays, as it was back then, all that a player really needs to properly roleplay is a simple notion of gameplay available to him - action and consequence. This can obviously be expanded into categories such as character archetypes, character skills, abilities, etc. which will enable each player to create unique characters with unique skills and so on. But at its core, roleplaying is nothing more than making it so a given, player-defined entity has a meaningful, definite role in a gameworld. And by role I'm not obviously talking about something like a character's class - that's his profession - I'm talking of the degrees of interaction and importance his actions have. This takes precedence over any story a writer can come up with for a game.
  19. Ridley is back in Prime? I found so much satisfaction in destroying it in the previous Metroid games, especially on my recent Metroid (re)plays, and now all my work is undone. Sigh. Speaking of which, are the Prime games good? My only problem with them stems from the firstperson handling, it never feels as intuitive as what I get from a PC... Still, I'm intrigued enough to consider getting a GC.
  20. Hell, Neverwinter Nights probably got one of the buggiest releases in videogame history and how many reviews brought these up? Hype and favoritism in the game critic scene? WELL I NEVER!
  21. Wheter Fionavar is a man or a woman...
  22. Wait until he gets to do Fallout. That's going to unleash armageddon.
  23. A good movie.
  24. I dont think grown ups do. Teens with image issues maybe. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Zing, in your face, and all that. Recently I had the chance to play it for a couple of minutes. Seemed to be a fun game but I didn't play long enough to have any strong opinions on it.
