Bethesda buys the Fallout IP from Interplay
Diogo Ribeiro replied to aVENGER's topic in Computer and Console
I'd suggest that in real life, there's a limit to how much better you can get. Also, if you train daily with a skill, become great with it, and then train daily in a second skill, you'll lose a certain amount of ability with the first skill. Also, some things just aren't learned or improved through repetition but by experimentation, intuition or observation - or a combination of those. A boxeur will not be able to best his opponents by training the same way every single day - new moves, new ways to block or dodge and so on require he learn new things that he can incorporate into his training. If only I became godlike at sex by just doing it everyday... -
Corruption is present in youth. Notice what 12 year olds will do for cookies or icecream. That stuff is evil and pollutes their hearts.

^I'm still missing some Malkavian (Dementation) and Ventrue (Domination), obviously, but they probably don't differ that much.

I just have fun finding all the ways devs crammed into the game - which are unfortunately less during many side quest and progressively less as the game comes to an end. It's still good in the earlier areas, though. An example is at the Beach House, . I've spent the last 20 minutes there, testing some dialogue skills and stealthy ways to complete the objective. So far, I've discovered that you can: Fun times.

There's a couple of ways:

That's alright, I probably didn't made it clear in the first place. Anyway, I'm working on and off on this sort of guide... I may go somewhere with this.

So you expect it to be better than you expect? How does that work? I didn't expect much from, say, Jade Empire but was surprised by a couple of things, even if in the end I didn't enjoy the game that much. Same will likely go for Fallout 3. -
When I said "most of it" I was talking about the soundtrack of the game, not most of Ministry.

What is the worst game you ever bought?

Ba-dum-pa-psh! Oh, and The Bard's Tale and Fable: The Lost Chapters would rank up on my stinker list. The Bard's Tale doubly so, since I can't seem to sell it! -
I know, I checked them previously. But I had the problem you mentioned - some of the *.mp3's just wouldn't work for some reason. Sometimes it didn't play, and there was at least one CTD. Of course, I tried this way before the game was patched. Maybe I'll look into it now. Oh, and the soundtrack isn't all emo, somewhat emoish. I know Ministry is industrial but most of it seems to pander to goths and emo-types. I need to put some Mars Volta, Nine Inch Nails and Dream Theather in there.

I suspect it's going to be better than I expect, but still far removed from the original Fallout. -
Actually I think the story is one of the game's worst aspects. I much more enjoyed some of the side quests than the main story, which to me is saved only by the afforementioned acting and writing - and even that one is not always stellar. And I could certainly pass up on the emo soundtrack. I need to find a way to replace the music in bars with music of my choosing. For all the flaws I dump on Deus Ex's lap, I wish Bloodlines had more of its environmental interactivity. Sure, computer use is much more fluid. Stealth gives more of a hint and isn't broken by selective AI. But the environments are pretty stale for the most part - there's not a whole lot to interact with. You can't blow up doors, break windows and crawl inside... Even something like Half-Life 2 would be nicer. I still enjoy the game very much, however, which is prompting me to write a FAQ/Walkthrough for it. But that's a bit of a mammoth task.

Well, that's not very hard to achieve considering most Fallout 2 party NPCs barely have a story and dialogue at all. One of the things I feel helped set the personality for Bloodlines' characters was the voice acting. Troika seemed to get the right voice actors for the game, unlike in their past titles.

I agree with everything you've said and I find the biggest flaw of 300 is also the reason why I enjoyed it so much: it faithfully recreates the graphic novel. I certainly would have appreciated a lot more detail concerning the historical and political realities of the time, but 300 was more of a stylistic interpretation of history than an actual depiction. It works well for what it tries to be. I also didn't like some of the events because of special effects: for instance, gains good foreshadowing but is then ruined by a poor use of camera and lighting effects; by comparison, the rather bare bones (no pun intended) display of the wall being built with was more effective. The battles were also a bit hit or miss, with the use of slowdown being a bit convoluted for my tastes (though I prefered that to the chaotic and epileptic camera juggling of, say, Braveheart). However, it was still a somewhat enjoyable movie - there were some very good scenes in it - but it's not something I'd bother watching a second time. Now, if only someone would have the balls to make a good adaptation of Miller's Daredevil: Born Again and Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, I'd be a happy camper. A very happy camper.

Fallout fans should be brimming with joy at the prospect of having to shell out money for a potentially bad Fallout sequel as well as the tools to fix it. I don't know about you, but I'm already flying high! -
I think the shifts in allegiances unfortunately came too late in the game. Like you, there were several instances where I felt more in tune to what the Anarchs had to say and was wondering why I'd have to serve that bloodsucking eurotrash instead of hanging out with Niles. I also dislike how the game places characters on my path which suggest I join them - - but then the dialogue choices are all ten different ways of saying "up yours". Then again, the Prince was pretty much the authority all vampires had to respond to in one way or the other so it's understandable that fledlings had to dance to his tune.

Did Amentep just crawled out of his grave to talk about breasts?

They wouldn't need weapons when they can tear you apart with their claws. Exactly. Unfortunately, most Gangrel Disciplines suck. Fortitude is alright, with Protean and Animalism being peripheral curiosities most of the time. Being given a +5 to Frenzy would be nice if it didn't meant losing control of the character. Also, Protean claw damage is off the wall since it often sends enemies flying across the screen with just one blow, rendering combos useless. Gangrel seem to require an awful amount of point investment to become good at combat. Still, War Form (Protean 5) + Bloodsuckers' Communion (Animalism 4) + Potence 5 = was that a boss I just instakilled? Then again, Potence 5 is terribly expensive and doesn't bring that many advantages that Blood Buff wouldn't bring. Plus, if you sacrifice some Humanity and manage to Frenzy against bosses or through areas crawling with enemies (like the sewers) it pays off in combat... Though dialogue suffers a bit with this.

That's just plain bad design, it has nothing to do with the actual dialogue, whether it sucks or not. I was being tongue in cheek in the reply. I have no problem with dialogue or interacting with other characters; just when it's poorly designed, as you said.
