  1. Only in game reactivity. It was much superior in combat encounters and fun options. I'll give you combat since it's a matter of preference between turn based and rtwp, but fun options... no freaking way does anything measure up to fallout(and especially fallout2) So fallout had 300 spells to choose from? Petrifing enemies? Poison, disease, hold, charm, enemies with invisibilty and the rest? No, I didn't think so.
  2. Your reasoning is still garbage. Skill checks are rare. Rarely needed even if checked. And tend to be quite high. +1 making a difference will thus also be insanely rare. Just because youd make a dumb choice doesnt mean the choice isnt obvious. The only time you should choose a +1 to mechanics over something like +4 int is because you know a check is coming up and what that check is and that +1 is going to be enough. You never know when a Mechanics check is coming up. Or hell, sometimes you do know it's coming up, and you're 1 point shy. That is why Gods of PoE invented those +3 mechanics scrolls.
  3. So, let's see ... We have Alistair, kind of the token warrior companion and very similar to Eder, honestly. But I agree that he was an overall well-fleshed out character. Morrigan, a very one-dimensional "Oh, I'm such an anti-hero" cliché. Literally the only interesting thing about her was the final twist with her pregnancy. And let's not even start about how absolutely out-of-character this twist was. Leliana: A mary-sue of the worst possible kind. She was basicly only there to fullfill the teenager waifu-fantasies. Zevran: Errrgh. This guy was just weird to the core. And not the good kind of weird like Grieving Mother or Durance. Just the bad forced-bisexual-because-of-reasons kind of weird. Did he actually have anything to offer besides the stupid love interest? Wynne: Actually the only unique character in the entire roster. I liked the idea of a grey-haired grandma-type character. Unfortunately her backstory was pretty boring. Oghren: A cliché dwarf with some tacked-on slapstick gags. Sten: "Oh, I am so in regret for my past-deeds... please let me make up for killing a family by killing other random people that possibly have families...". *Jawn* Shale: A friggin' golem... seriously, how much character depth can you expect here? Funny trivia: Shale had probably still more personality than Zevran. Dog: A ****ING DOG!! It can't even speak. It just barks. And still I liked it more than most of the other characters. Because who doesn't like a doggy? I agree with this. And I had a dog in my party in PoE the whole time. He didn't fight like the DA:O dog but at least I didn't leave him in camp the whole game as a result I still liked Morrigan :D I like Eder more than Alistair. Alistar came off as a whiny bi*** while Eder is a lost soul that got my sympathies.

  5. Buffs are useless. Only time you really need to use a buff is to protect vs Charm, Confusion and Domination but the game thinks those companions are not longer your faction and the buff spells don't work on them... why Obsidian?! Why?! (and there is not dispel magic kind of spell to use in that situation).
  6. that is Roguey, Sawyer's #1 fan from Codex that stalks him everywhere.
  7. it is typical? Really? Can you give an example of a similar game?
  8. I am sorry to burst your bubble but DAI earned more money in 1 month than PoE will over its lifetime. You wanted to know why..
  9. ignore stronghold. It is a unfinished feature.
  10. Hiver, did the codex let you out of you cage?
  11. It's 4Chan for neckbeards. No it is not. They are just as easy to offend and call people troll as people here. It is a undeserved reputation that some people try to spread. Would love to discuss this with you, but your post makes no sense. See, now you are channeling some of that Codex love.

  13. I hope Obsidian reads this post of mine and fixes pathfinding during combat. I use standard 2-2-2 formation and back line cannot pass through the middle to get into range of the spell I want to cast. They run around and in place and embarrass the developers that coded pathfinding.
  14. The review reveals all the problems that I have been noticing in my 100+ hour play on Hard (not done yet) but they have not be bothering me as much as the reviewer. I would still like them all to be improved.
  15. We are going to spoiler territory if we talk about specifics of quests. That location is possible to avoid most of the conflict but that is not the one I did so in. That was much later in second town.
  16. 1 - I know at least one quest that you can do with Stealth and it was pretty fun trying to avoid all guards. If you fail the stealth you will get to murder everyone there which I didn't want with my character. I think there are more but I didn't really try for those as I didn't care if I murdered everyone or not. Stealth is group based and you will not be able to get everyone safely through as you need lots of skill into stealth.
  17. I think it's funny that you criticize it, yet you mention no less than three distinct ways to deal with them. Three ways out of a small mountain. In PoE? What do you do? You.. tank them, and spank them. Preferably in a doorway. Shall we begin talking about doorways and choke points in the old games ? At least in PoE encounter design and enemies speed-engagement makes it harder to exploit. Yes, harder, not impossible. Anyways, fighting in doorways has always been a valid tactic, I even try to do it in pen-and-paper D&D. My ultimate point is, PoE is not the enemy, it does some things different- why not try to accept them and move on and enjoy the game ? After all, we were all aware that there wasn't time to develop enemy AI. In the old game, in any fight that mattered enemy had attacks that punished your doorway tactics (horror, web, lightning bolt, confusion, domination and so on).
  18. Saving combat will take more than some AI tweekes. They need to return Health as only resource that be healed by per rest spells, per rest talents or one use potions. They need to add immunities to monsters and more abilities like stun, knockdown, petrify, charm or confuse or give those to more enemies. Put in more interesting encounters with traps, ambushes, unreachable archers and such.
  19. And the game should say these things. Once you tax people passing through it, you are either recognized by the powers in the area or you are a bridge/road bandit taking money from travelers without a right to do so.
  20. You get interrupted when using anything, including any melee weapon.
  21. There is no need to have penalty in melee when archery is crap. In IE games you could kite and bows did lots of damage.
  22. considering they put the keep on only route to enter defience bay (other bridge is broken) it is not possible that everyone does not know about new master of the keep within one week.
  23. It is worse than that. Only person that can give you the title is the Duc. And he ignores you the whole game until the ridiculous happenings at end of act 2. The whole Act2 is completely pointless storywise because of this. I don't have a clue what Obsidian was thinking with this feature.
  24. The Grimoire thing was a good idea but badly implemented. I even took Quick Switch and I don't swap them during combat. Why: 1. Even with talent it takes too long. It should be instant or with a super small cooldown. 2. You cannot queue up new spells on cooldown to start casting as soon as they are ready which means you need to play "pause at right time minigame" which is not optimal or fun 3. Grimoire UI is terrible for switching them. You have to open new ones from inventory screen to check what is in them, there is no way to do that from grimoire screen, when selecting spells into grimoire there is no easy way to know which spells are in other grimoires you have in inventory or quickslots. And you cannot rename Grimoires so you can give them easy to remember names like "Defensive spells" or "Fire Spells". 4. Grimoires themselves give no bonuses to the character. How about they have their own enchantments like +1 second to duration of spell, -2 second to cooldown when switching to this Grimoire, +2 damage with fire spells, -1s to recovery time after casting a spell and so on. I would love if the whole Grimoire system is expanded and fixed so I can take Quick Switch and +2 quick item slots and put 3-4 extra Grimoires in there and have an easy way to manage and switch them and not gimp my wizard at same time.
