  1. Anarchy Online (free 1 year trial). This was my first real MMORPG experience, and it is so addictive that it made me smoke less (because I have to leave my PC to smoke). It is even more addictive than posting here at OE. Try for yourself overhere
  2. We had one in Holland last summer
  3. Perhaps there will be a kind of joint-venture between Obsidian and Bethesda? Because of the rumours of K3 being developed with a by Obsidian wit a new engine and stuff, maybe FO3 and K3 will have Bethesda's engine and Feargus helps Bethesda with the FO stuff? Wild speculation, but would be cool.
  4. Great post! I am eagerly awaiting the international version and seeing somenone post such a reaction only makes me want the game more...
  5. The games I have installed at this moment are: KotOR Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy Star Wars: Battlefront Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory Anarchy Online (free version) Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Red Alert II Starcraft + Brood War Civilization 3: Play The World Discworld Noir I have reinstalled my PC a couple of months ago, so alot of my games are not installed at the moment.
  6. True, but from the very few things I know about surgery, I think that it is (relatively) easy to just close two holes on each side of an organ, instead of reconstructing a bone. Btw, on the subject of un-biased newschannels, I prefer Euronews, a French channel wich is very objective, no analists or whatsoever, just plain news with a voiceover.
  7. OK, it may not fragment, but it can get distorted. And because of the decrease in speed and the way it penetrates the armour, the bullet will not always follow a straight path, which could lead to worse injuries. It depends on what the bullet hits inside the body. If it hits an organ when you wear a vest, the damage probably will be worse than when it hits a bone, because the bullet doesnt have enough power left to shatter the bone, but enough to tear a huge whole in an organ. If you get hit when not wearing a vest and the bullet hits a bone, the damage will probably worse than when it hits an organ, because it will travel straigh throug the organ and most of the potential energy will be wasted, while when it hits a bone, the bone will shatter. Of course, the above stated things are not per definition true, due to exceptions and Murphy's Law, but warfare is all about odds, isn't it?

Definately not China. The rate China develeoping at this moment makes it the potental superpower of tomorrow and could be a great threat to the western society, both economically and military, in the near future. Russia is not wise either, 1) because of the instability and 2) because it is so close to China. The US, well, making the US stronger than it already is doesn't seem like a smart thing to me. I vote for the EU, because it lies exactly in the middle of the other options, and they are (at the moment) quite neutral.
  9. I thought a standard military body armour only protects against ricochets and indirect grenade fragments? When the vest is hit by an FMJ bullet the speed of the bullet will be decreased by the vest from 100's of metres p/s to 10's of metres p/s and the potential energy becomes kinetic energy, wich in turn will be realesed on your body. Power equals mass times speed square, so your body will take a huge hit from the bullet. This can lead to shattered bones and severe internal trauma. Its the speed of the bullet which is the problem. To make things even worse, a bullet can get fragmented or distorted by the vest which, when it penetrates the vest, will lead to very severe wounds. It's better when a bullet enters the body whithout losing speed or becoming distorted and exit in one piece, because the wound will be much "cleaner".
  10. Ok, I dont post much on the NWN forum, I only lurk there, but I still am upset Atari moved it. I really liked the relaxed atmosphere and the cosy way the fans and devs communicated at OE. Most people who posted here on the NWN forums may be (in my eyes) considered "die hard" fans, who can discuss on serious deep issues about the game. I am afraid the quality of the NWN forum will quickly decrease at Bio, simply because they have more members who are not so occupied with the game as (I think) some people overhere are. Ofcourse those people are entitled to have their own opinion too, but I still think it won't do the forum much good... Furthermore, the Bio forum is much slower and has a really annoying (to me) layout. If Atari wanted to reach the community, they also could have had the boards linked from Bio to here, in the same way they are redircted from OE to Bio now. And from a marketing P.O.V.: I am only a first year marketing student, so I'm no expert, but would it for Obsidian not have been better marketingwise to keep the boards themselve? Because I can imagine some people who come at Bio thinking that Bioware develops the game, and not OE. OE deserves the attontion, as they are a (relatively) new developer, mostly only known by their former BIS fanbase. I think it was a rather harsh move of Atari.
  11. It kinda looks like Galactic Battlegrounds in 3D only with space battles. Looks promising at first glance. (I did miss the dreadnought cruisers in the screenshots though...)
  12. provided he can actually hear something with that huge fan... "
  13. Funny, KotOR is still in the list at the 80th place with 128,600. That's pretty good.
  14. Well, in that case, who wants do to the kotor thing with me?
  15. OMG! That is soo ridiculus. And then to think of the fact that it's only 50 years ago... That women didn't revolt earlier than the sixties...
  16. I voted for True Gamer, but actually I only play RPG and RTS, and I like them equally.
  17. I haven't experienced the RLG myself, but I didn't like the system KotOR used. It just wasn't realistic (and don't give me some "yeah, but SW is unrealistic" crap). If I kill a sith soldier I at least expect to find his gun on his corpse, because I saw him use the damn thing on me. I prefer the Fallout and and BG system, where you could actually find the dead guy's complete equipment on his corpse.
  18. So the issue is the lack off attention LA pays to details like this, and you are afraid this will translate in a general lack of support for K2, as in patches and stuff?
  19. I think that anyone who spent enough time on this forum and who can think for himself would come to the conclusion that the systemreq. will be slightly heavier than those for K1. Why make it such a big deal, Hades? Or is this just some sensless random whining due to a lack of anything better to whine about?
  20. 1) I know... 2) Sorry...
  21. Sorry for the nitpicking, but AFAIK hackers in the SW universe are called "slicers" For the rest: You've got some nice ideas there
  22. Pax Imperia. It's an old obscure space colonization sim which I bought for 5 euros in a discount store. That game was so brilliant...
  23. To have something to look forward to while waiting for the game?
  24. Does anybody else get that feeling? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yup, me :"> " (It's not like I'm the one playing the keyboard tho...)
  25. Because those two games depend more on hacking and slashing, and less on the o-so-important storyline, which really shines in singleplayer
