  1. Yeah, but it's a stupid joke within the context of the game. You could easily imagine the bar owner coming up with that lame title in response to all the darkside wannabes that hang around outside the academy. It's not as if it were called "Cheers" and had a fat guy and a mailman permanently rooted at the far end of the bar. The only message I get from Easter Eggs is the developers saying "look how clever I am!" And that's something I can do without.
  2. The funny thing about tirades like this is that people have made the exact same complaint (with different names, of course) since the dawn of recorded music. By your standard, music stopped making sense (presumably) long before you were born.
  3. I think that the Obsidian writers have enough sense to let the new game be about the new protagonist, and to leave the old protagonist in the backstory where (s)he belongs.
  4. First, just because you're called a "veteran" doesn't mean you actually participated in the fighting. You could have spent the whole war escorting supply convoys or something (important job, but not guaranteed to put you in combat). Second, a level 1 Jedi is already really quite powerful. Last, I'm guessing that Kreia's mentor role has more to do with things like dialogue and quest choices (which D20 generally captures in the Wisdom stat), rather than skills and abilities (which are covered by experience). She's not going to be piping in with advice on how to shoot your blaster or pick the lock on a footlocker. First level makes a lot of sense to me.
  5. It would have to be darkside-only, or somehow plot-required. Voluntarily entering into a dueling circuit for cash and prizes isn't the type of thing that a true Jedi would ever do.
  6. Go watch The Shining. (They're already dead)
  7. Yes, it does. It's called "Tetris." B)
  8. But that was when there actually was a jedi presence. Presumably, that's no longer the case in TSL. I'd like to see some more infiltration missions, which usually have a disguise aspect, so I think NPCs should notice your clothing on some occasions. I do, however, doubt it'll be as regular as Morrowind, as Maria mentioned. VO costs do tend to add up.
  9. "Opposing?" Opposing to what? Perhaps you meant "Imposing?" Anyhow, I'm pretty neutral w/r/t what everyone's wearing in an RPG. Anything short of an "I'm with Stupid" T-shirt and I don't really notice.
  10. Some more variety and originality in battle cries would be nice, yes. But the most annoying saying in the game to me was how 80% of the intra-party dialogues ended with some variation on "We should get back to the task at hand."
  11. You're basically asking whether human actions are encompassed in the term "natural." This is semantics. Considering that any decent dictionary's entry on "natural" covers half a page, there's no real answer. If you ask me, I say absolutely. Everything is natural as long as it isn't "supernatural" (which means that everything is natural, since supernatural = hokum). This is also helpful in justifying the store-bought chocolate chip cookies I just ate. They're just as natural as the carrot I left in the refridgerator!
  12. This is all pretty entertaining, but it's futile. Craftsman is just going to define his terms however he likes to conform to his prejudices. No amount of logic is going to convince him that he's wrong. But, like I said, it's entertaining, so please continue.
  13. Am I to assume you've never seen a terrier get 'friendly' with a couch cushion?
  14. How do you know that bigotry is really a sickness that know one whats to admit. Like with racism and stuff, people dont want to face that human intelligence is being used to oppress and degrade other human beings.
  15. Natural ? Maybe he means that 90% of them should end with bitterness and regret. <_< <_<
  16. The best part of the BG2 romances was the background music that kicked in when you were talking to Aerie or Jahiera (Aerie's has the slight edge). Best music in the game. That's all I want to say about BG2. Although I agree that the PS:T character-interactions are certainly worthy of emulation, I don't necessarily agree w/r/t Grace. It seems like there was supposed to be a lot more to her character that never made it into the game. Sure, it had the poetic ending and all, but there really wasn't much substance to the relationship. Anyhow, I say forget romance-- the real model to follow from PS:T is Dak'kon. Quality character interaction can stand on it's own without the simple titilation of getting to nail hot elven/fiendish/alien chicks & dudes.
  17. Exactly. And I'll do you one better: The fact that he/she was "a veteran" of the Mandalorian Wars doesn't mean that h/s even "fought." Nothing says that the main character wasn't a "veteran" accountant in the mercenary payroll department. Plus, people seem to forget that all the effort and work in Jedi training is necessary to get you to the point where you're a level 1 jedi with 0 XP. A level 1 jedi is pretty dang powerful.
  18. As I've said before, this topic is one of the key reasons why we will not see Revan alive in KotOR2. Revan will be a dead force-spirit with a deep-cowled hood and a wispily indeterminate voice. This eliminates all problems of his/her appearance, gear, class, and skills. It also prevents the 'old' hero from overshadowing the new guy.
  19. Here's a start: Sunflower Futures!
  20. Utility Droid. Or maybe a Jawa.
  21. Ewwww!! Insectoid races that could cross-breed with more traditional Jedi races? I don't even know where to start, there's so much wrong with that.
  22. But then where does the money come from? I doubt that developers (at least any decent ones) are going to work pro bono until the game is sold. Somebody's going to have to lay out the capital (often in the low millions) for equipment, salaries, and the like. Or is there cadre of benevolent, PC-playing millionaires out there I'm not aware of??
  23. The main concern I think is time and disk space. When the cutscenes are made in-engine, they can be done relatively quickly and in a pretty compressed space. When you go outside the game engine, it gets much larger and more difficult. That means that you'll probably have to live with the somewhat grainy cutscene graphics. Unless you'd rather get the game 6 months later and spend a lot more time staring at load screens.
  24. Frankly, i don't think they need a cap, all they have to do is balance the game to end within level 15, which is where KOTOR should have ended in the first place. Level 30 or 35 ?!? I don't get it, what can you fight at level 35 that's even remotely challenging, the Death Star ?!? A noble goal. I'm with you all the way. But you do realize that we're tilting at windmills here, right? As soon they announced that the idiotic prestige classes would be included, it was pretty clear that any semblance of combat balance would be impossible.
