Hacks to improve load times?
eLPuSHeR replied to Idleray's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I am going to measure loading times with a cronograph this afternoon (after quitting work). I said 10-15s just taken off the top of my head. -

Depending on your software/hardware configuration you may be starving for memory on x86 systems. -
Hacks to improve load times?

Are you using a mechanical slow hard disk or an SSD? On my i7 (Haswell) with an SSD and 8 GB RAM loading times are about 10-15s (I have now reached ACT 3). -

That's why I skipped that dialog option altogether as soon as I saw it. It smelled fishy from a league. That and I already knew by completing the robbed scroll quest before that I would be getting that grimoire anyway. -
Party AI

If you're talking about "auto-attack while idle", it does nothing on or off. Yes. That's the one. -
Man. I really HATE that when it happens at combat mostly. The collision boxes must be all wrong because my party members keep bumping into each other while trying to flank enemies even on open areas. It's frigging annoying to have to direct a char all the time because he/she isn't able to turn a corner or move to next available target without bumping endlessly into each other (I am looking at you Sagani's fox).

Party AI

There is an option under configuration to make party members defend themselves when attacked. But, alas, it doesn't work too well. Sometimes it doesn't trigger at all. -

I disagree with that idea just because you aren't getting any xp. -

A few month back I bought an MSI Radeon R9 290x card and I had a lot of weird issues with it. I am on an i7 (Haswell chipset). I am now using a GTX 970 card and being quite happy. But back on your issue... If you are brave enough, you could try forcing a rendering mode for the Unity Engine. Right click on Pillars -> Properties -> Set launch options add -force-d3d11 parameter. Keep in mind that it's not very officially supported... There are also other parameters when looking inside the EXE. But I don't know what are these.. force-d3d9-ref force-gles30 force-gles20 force-d3d11 force-opengl force-d3d9 force-gfx-mt force-gfx-st force-gfx-direct -
Massive increase of crashes. [1.04]

If you are playing on Windows you could try temporarily disabling Superfetch. Open Regedit and look for a value called "enablesuperfetch" and set it to 0 (zero). Default value is 3. Use F3 to keep searching and make sure every instance is 0 now. Reboot. -
Hello. 1. Sometimes when sneaking with my rogue I get the "trap detected" message but there is no trap(s) to be found. Could it be that after combat, the game is mistakenly taking into account Kana's "Rime and frost..." cooldown period for a trap? 2. Look at the image below. I can see enemies through walls. Cool. Copperlane catacombs.

D3D11 Testing
eLPuSHeR replied to Asmodean-'s topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I also used the -force-d3d11 command-line parameter when running Wasteland 2 (which also uses Unity engine) but I didn't find any differences, neither for good nor for bad. It wasn't officially supported so I removed it. -
Why use Field Triage? [solved]
eLPuSHeR replied to luzarius's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
It's not useless at all but it isn't great either. You could turn some chars in red to yellow under some circumstances.
