  1. That is why youth should have some advantages.
  2. I think Meta is an expert in phallicism.
  3. To soothe the power gamers, perhaps each generation will grow even stronger because they'll have the teachings of their ancestors, and access to gear that has been passed down through the family. Gear itself could take on some symbolism, instead of just being tossed for the next best thing to come along.
  4. I was playing WoW last night and reached level 57. I ended up travelling through a few of the lower level areas I used to haunt, and I thought how odd it is that these level 40 creatures that used to tear me apart barely can scratch me. I logged off and went to bed... Now as I tossed and turned, I could feel a few familiar aches and pains. I play hockey once a week, and I try and stay pretty active. I'm 28 years old, which isn't ancient, but I'm definitely more sore on a daily basis than I was 5 years ago. I'm a smarter hockey player, maybe even better with the puck, but I'm not as fast as I once was. I also don't recover as fast from a good hit. It bothers me that in MMO's there is no concept of aging, when it is such a huge part of real life. Imagine what a different experience it would be if, the faster you levelled, the slower your recovery rate and speed became. Instead of a levelling curve, you had a levelling hump that eventually went downhill. The whole concept of powergaming and reaching that end level would change, because it would be more important enjoy the peak years and be cautious during the brittle years. End game content would be done in the prime of your life, rather than in the last years of your character. This would also even the playing field for casual gamers somewhat, as they may not reach the peak as quickly but the also won't decline as fast. I don't know, it's just something I'd like to see. It'd be great if they implement family lines as well, so as your character came close to retirement age, you could take on a new character that would carry on the family name.
  5. I really enjoyed the Soldier's Son second book (Shaman's Crossing?) It's a good deal different, though, although I'd say it's got the somber tone of every middle Robin Hobb book. I just like the twist given to the main character. I'm really waiting on the third book. edit: Book 2 is Forest Mage.
  6. Vokoun being traded off was a surprise, but it may signal the start of a nashville fire sale. About Toskala, he's an extremely consistent goalie. Over the last two seasons he has put up a rather insane win ratio, something like 50-12 (I'm tool azy to do the math.) The trouble is he got injured this season, otherwise he likely would have been splitting with Nabakov even in the playoffs. The Sharks also might have dealt Nabakov over Toskala, but contracts made that a bad idea. I may seem biased, but I've seen him play a lot, and he's in the same class as Kiprusoff. I was happy with the draft, it was fun watching the Russian kid squirm, he looked pretty miserable. I'm think his attitude might have been one reason he dropped so far, but it's so hard to tell through a translator. None of these kids will be playing next year, it looks like. Definitely a group that needs development time. I was surprised how small a couple of the high picks were.
  7. Wow, I'm amazed at all the negative TSN comments on Toskala. He's a top goalie, he went 26-10 last season and was a huge part of the Sharks making the playoffs the season before. This makes the Leafs a better team immediately. I'm a bit surprised the Sharks didn't use him to get someone who can play now, but I suppose the #13 pick is a decent place to be. Mark Bell will probably thrive, but he got off to a bad start on San Jose by getting arrested before the season started. Sometimes a change of location is the only thing that will get you back on track.
  8. I doubt a DS title takes that many resources away from a large development house like Bioware.
  9. Is TV an addiction? I agree that games can hook people more than television, but the medium is similiar. People have died over playing games.
  10. This is old news, but yes, all 5 million WoW players exchange sex for in game items on a regular basis. Excellent deducing, Sherlock.
  11. I'm planning on picking up NCAA this year. The prospect system looks sweet.
  12. Geez, even if you're not a fan of Will Wright games, I don't know how you can be negative about one of his projects. The guy has been huge for PC gaming. I can't think of any two games that have brought more new gamers into the fold than Simcity and The Sims. He can take as much time as he wants.
  13. Bah, that Will Wright guy is a total hack anyways, it's not like he's ever released revolutionary gaming software before. Oh wait...sarcasm doesn't work on the internet. If WW needs 10 more years to make a game, he's pretty much earned it. I'm not really a Sim's fanatic, but I recognize the fact the guy is a genius.
  14. I was shocked how well done it was. I really liked how it captured what Mayan civilization might have looked like in its decline. The history wasn't perfect, but the images of the slash and burn agriculture, social castes, and tradeskills like tanning were excellent. It was also a very solid action movie.
  15. I'd like to focus on the "Christians are called to love others" line. If you believe that fully, then you have to be pretty careful making judgements about homosexuality. It's good to stick to that belief personally and not engage in homosexual acts yourself, but if you are really loving others, you shouldn't put restrictions on it. Basically, you should be fully accepting of a homosexual, despite your differences in sexual orientation.
  16. I would like the game industry to take more responsibility for the content they are putting on store shelves, but I still think the lion's share of responsibility belongs in the hands of the parents. I'm confused how they can keep an 18 year old adult from purchasing this game, but I'm not familiar with the UK's censorship rules.
  17. Yeah, other than Hitman: Blood Money, this has been my most played game on the 360. I just like jumping from building to building like the Hulk.
  18. US health care is the best and the worst in the world. I blame the lawyers. edit: Uh, I watched Serpico. Good movie. It makes you realize how far the US has come in terms of law enforcement.
  19. Wow, you guys take this so seriously. Is Puzzle Quest a Puzzle game or an RPG? It makes my head hurt just thinking about how to describe it.

    GINGISM!

So blondes are fun and dumb because society labels them as such? Groovy.
  21. I thank God that my **** doesn't threaten to pop every few hours if I don't service it. We can actually get a baby sitter and leave a bottle of milk if we want to go see a movie, but with all these three hour epics this summer, it isn't worth it. That would basically mean my wife would need to pump in the car before and after, which isn't comfortable. But enough about my wife's boobies I watched The Astronaut's Wife on fast forward. It was pretty bad. Maybe I missed some reasons for the whole homicidal alien entity. Johnny Depp was not at his finest.
  22. I think you are simplifying war a bit too much. It's impossible to predict the outcome of going to war, but there was a real possibility that not sending in troops would lead to more innocent deaths. With this thinking, the US should have just stayed out of World War II (in fact, they actually did.) Whether you believe Hitler would have been stopped without the US forces or not, it doesn't change the fact that it was a decision that saved lives and was the Christian thing to do. It's not some morale black and white canvas. War is a very difficult minefield for everyone with an ounce of humanity, religious or not. Running a government ain't no cakewalk either.
  23. Representative democracy was a key term in Cant's post for me. If you are unhappy with the fact our leadership is predominantly Christian, then you have to change who is electing them into office. Politicians are just representatives, they act in the best interest of those who elected them, so that they continue to get elected. Take gay marriage: **** Cheney seems to have a close relationship with his lesbian daughter. Personally, she has supported him in his career. But both of them know that coming out in support of gay marriage would be political suicide. They are clearly prioritizing what issues they are willing to take a stand on. That's politics.
  24. The baby kinda killed my organized gaming time. Maybe in a month or two when her schedule is more regular.
