(John Woo's) Stranglehold demo on Xbox 360 Marketplace
Fun, but not my cup of tea. I played the Eternal Sonata demo too, and I think I might pick that up.

The experiences of a lowly playtester
Psh, most predictable ending EVER! Seriously, it should have ended with you working for some obscure gaming studio., or better yet, you making it up all along. Or better yet, we are just all figments of your imagination!

Games you are looking forward to
Ignoring the odd self defecation, I agree Akella has some interesting projects on the horizon. They have some great programmers and the Silent Storm game engine was awesome. There are Akella folks working on JA3. I just hope they get some decent English writers someday.

Xbox 360 price drop
I love my 360, but I would always choose to upgrade my PC first. It's way more important.

Warcraft: The Well of Eternity Book
I think that depends on how you play. There is no 80 hour a week requirement, that's just what some folks choose. Personally, I play maybe a dozen hours a month, and I have quite a few friends who do the same. The $15 a month is a minor cost, particularly because I buy less games than I would without WoW. But it's a gaming genre, and it's not going to be for everyone. I don't like racing games, but I don't jump in every racing game thread and bash them. But I guess that makes Aram happy, so yay for him.

Well, you know what they say, once you go mutant, <insert witty remark here>.

Gay Rights Issues
Yes, because the rest of the gaming world is so gay friendly, why could they possibly need their own website? Oh wait, the rest of the gaming world is filled with homophobic prepubescent teenage boys who think the internet is a place where they can be total dillholes with anonimity.

Warcraft: The Well of Eternity Book
Hehe, I wonder what the count would be on Aram's posts on WoW sucking balls. I know he's added it to quite a few topics. Thank you for keeping us informed.

Yes, clearly. I know whenever I make a major decision, I only base it on a single reason. There is no way that other reasons could have played a factor in the dropping of the bombs.

Gay Rights Issues
Wow, this is kinda all over the map. 1. The black community is notoriously close minded about homosexuality. I don't really get it, but them's the facts. 2. The US being behind Europe in terms of civil rights has a lot to do with the fact that it's a huge friggin' country. I agree that fear mongering is an issue that the Republican party uses to its advantage, but the fact is Europe and the US are very very different on many levels. 3. Our education system is in shambles? Would you like to explain that to my students? There are plenty of people getting a quality education out there. It needs work, but I'd hardly call is a shambles.

Warcraft: The Well of Eternity Book
That would be a ridiculous decision. WoW is playable on most computers because they don't overdue their art resources. 9 million subscribers means keeping it simple.

Gay Rights Issues
Well, the US still has a long way to go when it comes to equality for gay people. I really look forward to the day where "gay" and other terms are not used as insults all over the internet and in online games. There will always be a few ignorant folks that resort to hate filled epitaphs, but gay bashing is way too common in our world. So until you see a real shift in the thinking of the average person, I'd say those parades and marches should continue. Legal rights are only one side of the issue. But 50 years ago the US was segregating the schools, bathrooms, and water fountains by race, so progress is inevitable. Racism still exists, but society in general frowns upon it. Eventually, I expect society in general will frown on gay bashing as well, but we aren't there yet.

Well said. I definitely didn't get the impression Yuusha was baiting by starting this thread. It's a tragedy, for sure, and it's a devastating end to a devastating war. We should always keep it fresh in our minds, so we can be vigilant to prevent it from happening again. Now I do find Gorgon and sogi_ya's reaction to this thread odd.

Oh my God, dropping the A-bomb is totally like the war in Iraq. I mean, it's like exactly the same thing. They could be like twins or something, but really ugly twins that totally kill people with their looks.

What game would you rather see Obsidian work on
Are there not enough FPS games out there already?

Warcraft: The Well of Eternity Book
Oh, new expansion announced for WoW. Level cap is raised to 80, and 10 new areas are being added for level 68 and up. There's a new class, hero class, Death Knight. I'm a WoW fan, I really enjoyed it for a couple years as a casual player, but this is really not exciting to me. It's just more high level stuff, more raids and pvp content, and it really doesn't apply to casual players at all. I have no interest in levelling up to 68 just to go explore a few new uber areas. Why can't they add some content across the level spectrum? Why don't they add classes that are playable at level 1? I don't know, I guess I'm no longer their target audience. I miss the days when WoW wasn't about PvP and raids.

NHL
I don't get why people are so upset about the Dustin Penner deal. The Oilers most likely overpaid for him, but they can only do that so much in the salary cap era. If a team wants to overpay a couple players, that's their decision. I'm not saying Penner has no chance of developing into a top forward, but it's a definite risk, and one that Anaheim smartly did not make.

Warcraft: The Well of Eternity Book
Yeah, it was lazy to not create a new class and just give Blood Elves that Pali. Still, I can see where trying to balance a new class is a huge headache. But I think they stress too much about PvP in WoW now, that clearly wasn't the original design direction.

What are you playing now?
I'm totallly enjoying Shivering Isles. It has great story and characters. I just keep asking myself "why was Oblivion nowhere near as interesting as this?" It's also given me a bit more confidence in Fallout 3, as the writing and dialogue are very entertaining and witty. Tons more life in the expansion, by far.

Movies You Have Seen Lately
I paid 12$ to see it in a theater. Think Rambo(#1) meets Conan without all the supernatural stuff(of Conan, not Rambo). Make some popcorn and leave your brain somewhere it can't be heard and you should get some enjoyment out of it. It's quite violent but not very clever. I took your advice, and actually enjoyed it very much. The action scenes were well done, and that's really all I require from such films.

What are you playing now?
I decided to pick up Oblivion and the expansion for my PC. I had it on my 360, but I never really got into it, and I think it has a lot to do with the whole TV vs. computer experience. I've started a Nordic Barbarian, and I think I'm going to go hand to hand and wear nothing but a monk's robe for the game, just to see what it's like.

I have Pathfinder sitting next to me, but I'm afraid to watch it. I thought the trailer looked great, but since then I've heard terrible things.
