The TV and Streaming thread Series 4
Well they did bring back Louie. I had a blast with Coming 2 America. It was fun and the visuals were crazy. I don't even understand how they made Arsenio look like the Shaman. I've been listening to a bunch of Arsenio Hall interviews this last week and I am glad he is back too.

Wow dog_days, are you reading the novels as well?

I remember in 7th grade, my parents had the bright idea to send me to a private Christian school, since I wasn't doing well in public. It was not a good fit, and I got sent to he library as a punishment regularly. This was a pretty terrible library for a 7th grader, since it was all preachy stuff. The one decent author I found was Stephen R. Lawhead. He had a scifi series about living on Mars and I enjoyed it. Then I read some fantasy books he wrote. I'd say that led me to a lot of the older fantasy and scifi stuff I eventually read. I don't really remember it being heavy on the Christian themes, at least not any more than CS Lewis. So that helped.

I just found out that the actress that plays Scarlett Witch, or Wanda, is the younger sister of the Olsen twins.

Anything by Lloyd Alexander was my jam. I never got into comics or graphic novels, it was mostly just novels. This was the kind of thing I loved going back even earlier:- What You've Done Today - As the World Turns
Hah, I thought they were all the same pic. Which shows how well I was paying attention when I read it early in the morning.- The All Things Political Thread (The World and US Reunited)
I imagine if they were his big ones, that is what would happen. Apparently he had 45 original books, and I don't think the 6 pulled are in the top of his catalogue.- The All Things Political Thread (The World and US Reunited)
Well said. Children's books are a different matter than classic literature, and it is fine to have different standards for them. Huck Finn is important as it is capturing a very specific time in our American history. I'm all for protecting it. Some dated looking caricatures in a picture book don't get the same reaction from me. It can still be used as a discussion piece, it isn't getting scrubbed from the history books, but there are better options in the children's section of the library.- Strike Three... the 2021 Baseball Thread
Got the Giants versus the Dodgers on TV tonight! I love watching Spring Training. When I retire I want to just spend every March in Arizona watching games.- The All Things Political Thread (The World and US Reunited)
To be fair, the Mayan definitely COUNT, because at least they had a concept of zero, Egypt, Greece, and Rome.- The All Things Political Thread (The World and US Reunited)
I'm not sure where you did your research, but we use Indo-Arabic numerals, not Egyptian.- The All Things Political Thread (The World and US Reunited)
Yeah, I've always been weirded out by people who work in public but send their kids to private. You have such little faith in your chosen career that you pay to send your children outside of the system? But in regards to public schools not opening when private have been open for awhile, there really is a world of difference. Private already have much smaller class sizes. They also already treat their teachers like crap, so no biggie if they get covid.- The All Things Political Thread (The World and US Reunited)
That Roger Stone clip is golden. You can't even parody this stuff.- What Are You Playing Now: The meaning of life
Yikes, that was fast. I am like an hour in. The humor does fall a bit flat for me, but I'm keeping at it!- What Are You Playing Now: The meaning of life
I like how you guys talk about your backlog as if it is a number that can potentially go down. We all know that it only increases every year.- Weird, random, interesting - now with 100% less diacriticals

Breathedge releases today, so I will start a game of that in earnest.- Cyberpunk 2077 continuing discussion
I just don't understand how anyone complains about the game being too short. I put in about 50 hours and I don't think I was that close to the end. I stalled out, but I am pretty comfortable with the idea I will return to it. It is an enjoyable game. I think people just have crazy expectations.- What You've Done Today - As the World Turns
I got some good news on the housing front. We are renting from some friends. Eventually they want to develop the property. It is zoned residential/commercial, and they plan on putting a business at the front and condo units behind or on top. I was worried they were looking to break ground in the next yeae, but it sounds like they are waiting. They are also interested in letting us buy a condo unit, which might be perfect for us. We love the location, so hopefully we can figure out a way to stay long term.- Weird, random, interesting - now with 100% less diacriticals
Damn, that was hard to watch. - The What Are You Reading thread (now with a simpler name)
