  1. It was great reading about all those movies Kelverin. I show The Message every year in class, so I was pretty shocked to hear how controversial it was in 1977. It even got the approval of the University of Cairo, you'd think those pesky terrorists could let it go with taking hostages and shooting a mayor.
  2. I feel like I'm cheating when i play the Sharks. That's why I destroy you guys with the Bruins, to be more fair.
  3. I'm surprised American History X isn't on the list. I recognize most of them, and I can definitely agree that many were controversial.
  4. The Caps made it. Pretty exciting that they had to clinch the division in order to go to the playoffs. It was 3rd place or 9th place
  5. I'm excited to see Ovechkin in the playoffs. I'm not quite sure who will be outside looking in, but I'm guessing it will be Philly. I want to see the Bruins too, so I'm hoping they manage to hold on as well. The East should have some great match ups. I'm guessing San Jose will play Calgary. That's a tough match up, Iginla and Kipper can steal games. It's also a pretty personal match up, former coach, former players, yada yada. I never grew up watching Gordie Howe, so I can't say I know much about his playing style. I know he was a fighter, but fighting doesn't get you suspended in this league, so I'm not sure if that qualifies as goonery. Pronger is also not playing in Howe's era. I don't know how Gordie Howe's behavior excuses Pronger from dirty stuff. Nobody here has questioned Pronger's ability, but I'm surprised Volourn takes it so personal that people have an issue with him. Both of his reasons stated (leaving Edmonton and attempting to injure others) are pretty solid reasons to dislike a player. There is emotion in sports both as a player and a fan, so it's perfectly reasonable to expect negative emotions to some players, just as you have positive ones for others. But hey, that's just my ignorant uninformed opinion.
  6. I don't know why you need to call me ignorant when I ask you a question about your viewpoint. It's one thing to disagree with one another, but we don't need to be disrespectful as well. As an aside, thank you for clarifying your opinion of Pronger. I get it, and before the stomping incident I was almost in agreement. He seemed like he matured over the last couple years and was focused more on playing good hockey and not losing his cool. Back in his younger days he helped the Blues win a President's trophy, but his hothead kept him in the penalty box for a good chunk of the playoffs and his team got bounced in the first round. He put that behind him in the last two seasons, so it was shocking to see him resort to that type of violence.
  7. I agree. As much as I'm tired with Lidstrom constantly winning, he's a simply gigantic reason why Detroit is always a top team. I wonder how many years he has left, he just doesn't seem to slow down. I'm pretty biased, but I can see Brian Campbell winning a Norris down the road. It's hard to argue with what a tremendous impact he's made, considering the Sharks haven't lost in regulation since they acquired him. Chara is also really coming into his game. He's the big reason the Bruins are close to making the playoffs this year. I'm surprised Volourn supports Pronger. The guy has been suspended like 7 times because of shady play. I thought Volourn was the same guy who argued against the brutality of fighting? You really support a guy who stomps down on another player with his blade?
  8. Yeah, Pronger is also a really good sport. He plays a clean game and that's why he's the classiest guy in the league. Seriously, if you want to hero worship a Ducks defenseman, try Niedermeyer. He plays top notch defense, and he doesn't try and injure the opposition.
  9. I understand the need for ratings, but does Crosby really give that much of a spike? Since the viewing audience in the states for hockey is non-existent, does it really mean all that much if the market share goes from .001 to .0011? Just playe a decent variety of games, so we can at least see most teams.
  10. Why does balance matter in a single player RPG? I've never understood that argument. There should be easy to play routes and difficult to play routes. That made Daggerfall awesome in my eyes.
  11. Hitman - It was odd. It wasn't terrible from an action movie standpoint. I think it needed to either distance itself fully from the video game (like instead on Agent 47, it's some other guy) or get rid of all emotion and the whole girl scene stuff. It just didn't seem to know what it wanted to be. Timothy Olyphant is also a favorite actor of mine, but he didn't pull off Agent 47 at all. Ignoring the video game entirely, it was like a poor man's version of the Bourne series. I guess I'd give it a D+. Not unwatchable, but not terribly good.
  12. I played a few minutes of Battlefield: Bad Company Beta First Impressions - the opening music is awesome. The game itself seems to be a pretty solid combination of CoD4 and the Battlefield series. I appreciate the big maps and vehicle combat that CoD4 lacked. It's fast combat, but not as fast as CoD4. It's a bit dark on my TV, but I will play with thwe settings. It's also a bit hard to see stuff far away. They have red dots that show you where folks are, but I'm not sure how I feel about that. I'll post more when I get a few unlocks.
  13. I bought a new computer recently and I saw no reason not to go with the new OS. Whatever personal opinions are, it's the OS of the future and eventually Microsoft will pull back its support of XP. It seems like a pretty simple choice, but it's not one you need to make until you upgrade your computer. And seriously, if you haven't upgraded in a couple years, you will need to do so in the next couple years anyways. Every OS is pretty shaky in the first year, but the growing pains seem to be pretty much past us, so I don't see the big deal.
  14. Can I be the guy who constantly complains what a lousy story it is an shoots my teammates in the back?
  15. The Tibet protests will shine an interesting light on how seriously hard line China still is. Over the last decade they've become increasingly capitalistic and I don't think they have any urge to jeopardize their standing in the world economy. This is really a battle between business and policy within the country. The next couple weeks could signal a major change for China, for better or worse.
  16. I'm pretty sure that, if you aren't a fan of Will Smith, it's a bit silly to go to one of his movies and expect to like. Fortunately I really enjoy Will Smith as an actor, and soI enjoyed pretty much every movie he has done. Even Hitch.
  17. The Sharks magic number to lock up the division and second place is 3. That means either 3 wins or 3 losses by Anaheim, or a combination of both.
  18. This is very different than the God topic, so I'm glad to see a separate thread. The other is really science versus God, but morality really doesn't need religion or science. Sure, morality is an important part of major religions, but obviously being religious doesn't make you a moral person, and being an atheist doesn't make you amoral.
  19. I'd say technically, anytime there is a victim in a situation, you have a situation with a degree of evilness. The more victimization, whether in number of victims or level of victimization sustained, the more evil. Example, if I pinch you, minor evil, if I stab you, bigger evil.
  20. Rick Astley is dreamy
  21. I just joined the Battlefield: Bad Company beta. I'm downloading the client, and it starts on the 25th of this month. Pretty nice, my fileplanet account is what got me into the beta.
  22. I'm excited to see Boston in the playoffs again. I'm not sure if they have any shot at winning a round, but Sturm has always been a fan favorite of mine.
  23. This thread has gotten really bizarre. The various argument styles on this forum are always entertaining.
  24. I kinda see Aliens as being more action-y, and AP being more adventure-y. So I voted AP. But hey, hopefully both will rock.
  25. The whole reason I'm asking the questions of walkerguy is in an attempt to better understand his perspective, and hopefully support it. I assume walkerguy is fairly young, and there is nothing negative about that, but that usually means he is still learning about his religion of choice. I figured with more information, I might be able to help him clarify his thoughts. Clearly he is following a specific idealogy that he has been taught, which again is very acceptable particularly when you are younger. One of the oldest and most powerful uses of the church is to help guide people in their decisions in life, and while there are always going to be a few bad apples in the bunch, most churches carry a pretty positive message on how to go about living life. Unfortunately many of the people I know who attend church every Sunday also seem to have the most personal problems, but that might just be my bad luck ;-)
