  1. I'm not a fan of the Titanic, but I thought there were plenty of watchable moments. The love story was obnoxious, but all the side stories about what was going on around the ship and how it went down were good to me.
  2. I'm a bit skeptical of this system. I think it's great that these games are available and running on new OS's. But I'm worried I'll be disappointed when I pay for the game and don't feel like it's 1995. What if I just feel like the graphics are too retro? I guess that's why I'm digging Gametap, the risk isn't there, and they still have a few new titles available.
  3. I need a new laptop in a year or two. taks, why are you doing all that? Is there a health concern?
  4. Tough question. I spent a lot of years as a teenager and in my 20's backpacking through parts of Yosemite. But each trip gets harder and less comfortable, so I'm definitely looking forward to visiting the wilderness with a bit of luxury in tow. Also, my wife doesn't dig camping too much and my daughter is too young. I might organize a trip where my dad and I go off backpacking for a couple days while the rest of the family stays back RVing. But the real reason I got the RV was to explore the country state by state. I'll stick to RV parks most of the time.
  5. Currently I'm sitting in my RV in Monterey enjoying the wifi. Now I just need a better laptop
  6. "He wanted money to play the game. His parents, who work as civil servants, did not have enough money to give him." Wait...so he never actually played the game? How is pulling it off store shelves going to solve that problem?
  7. Mostly the Wii Fit.
  8. The house is also a great option for retirement. Eventually the mortgage will be paid off and you'll only have property taxes (which are limited in my state, my grandma pays $700 a year on her house, while a new neighbor would pay closer to $9,000.) So you can set yourself up to live very cheap in the golden years. Plus you can sell it and move into a retirement home, as after 30 years it's probably gone up a ton if you haven't refinanced over and over again.
  9. I don't get the dumb scifi element either. They could have just made it a game set during the Crusades in the Middle East.
  10. We can do 5 on 5. Goalie would be either too tough or too boring.
  11. I guess it's a double edge sword, there. If the economy wasn't so bad, then they probably wouldn't have knocked the price down so low. My wife and I are pretty set on job security, so that's not the problem. We'd love to go buy a bigger house, but the equity in our own home is messed up and in order to sell we'd take a huge loss. The mortgage is too high to make it up renting, too. So we have no problem making our payments, but we are pretty stuck until the economy recovers somewhat. So the RV is a bit of a bandaid to help get us out of the house more.
  12. It will cost me about $250 to fill up the tank. It really just depends on how far we go on a trip. My parents live about an hour away, but there is a great park on the beach near them, so we'll probably take a weekend there every couple months. The long trips are definitely costly, but then so are flights. It's definitely a lifestyle choice though, some folks love it and some hate it. http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=htt...v%3D2%26hl%3Den There's a link to what we got.
  13. Why on earth would you buy such a horrible investment? Investment? It's a luxury item, that really doesn't have anything to do with it. If I spent all my time worrying about what type of return I was getting on my luxury items, I'd go nuts. It's a comfortable way to travel, it is still cheaper than staying in a hotel for a week (even with gas) and it's perfect for my daughter and any futuure children. The RV we bought is $36,000, originally priced at $49k. So, yeah, bit of a sticker shock, but I'm still very excited to take it out.
  14. That's a long time to go...you might want to see a doctor about that.
  15. I bought an RV. Holy crap.
  16. No loot? Isn't that the point of these games?
  17. I'm playing Vanguard a bit, it's free for 60 days for former players. It's easily the deepest MMO on the market. The world is huge, there are about a billion different types of items, and the crafting could only be more intricate if you were doing it in real life. That being said, it's built on old school grinding, and I'm not sure I can handle that. On one hand I like that you need to work hard to get rewarded with a boat or a house, but on the other hand I don't need a second job.
  18. In Bruges - Very good, in fact much better than I expected. The acting was terrific and even though it was predictable, the quality acting kept me interested throughout. Good dialogue too.
  19. And those girly quakes in socal don't compare to the manly jolts we get in Norcal.
  20. Alpha Dog - It was ok. The story was really interesting, but there were a lot of hard to watch moments. It's also a pretty insane example of what bad parenting can lead to. Seriously, there wasn't a decent parent in the bunch, there are just terrible decisions after terrible decisions. And I didn't have much sympathy for the kid. He was a 15-year old idiot in the movie. Hopefully that was pure fiction, despite the true story it's based on.
  21. I played a couple with Wiipwned...I think he's a friend of Nick. It was pretty awesome, we kept the difficulty down and managed to blow up a few helicopters.
  22. At first I thought Tigranes said straight into AA. It went well with the previous comments
  23. We all know it was Sex in the City.
  24. Yeah I know, very strange... I think they screwed up, loads of people were on holiday and going on Holiday. Haha, I doubt the folks on the AoC forums would be happy to hear that so many people were on vacation. Of course they did hit the big time with this game, they definitely deserve a break. I think you made the right choice not to take the Funcom job though. The job security is probably a bit weak. Sure, right now the picture is rosy because they are thriving off the initial sales, but hanging on to the subscriptions will not be easy. Time will tell, I suppose.
  25. Codemasters is great, congrats! I'm excited for OpFlash 2. The first one was simply revolutionary. Did they develop Armed Assault too? I've thought about picking it up for the multiplayer. So what has the Guildford team done? Or is it new? I was going to guess that maybe they were going to bring OpFlash to the consoles, since those wide open maps are something you unfortunately don't see, but it sounds like your team is working on a new IP.
