I'm a big fan of any hefeweizen or wheat beer. I probably drink one or two beers a month, I don't touch alcohol very often. But a beer with a good flavor can really compliment a steak dinner. For the summer I bought a six pack of this Great White beer, http://www.lostcoast.com/. It's pretty good, not too bitter and it has a clean wheaty taste. It migh be better with a slice of lemon, but I haven't tried it. My wif also got a cool Christmas present, a case of Beers of the World. It had a great variety of international beers. We still have a few left.

I really don't see the Joker coming back as another actor. If Ledger had been less stellar, maybe, but he's irreplaceable after his performance. They are already talking about a posthumous Oscar, for goodness sake. They will probably make vague hints and allusions about the Joker in the third film, but I'd put big money down on them not having another actor fill the role.

I meant to post here earlier.

The movie had the highest opening weekend gross ever. For better or worse, they will definitely do a third.

Sorry, I was actually talking about Too Human. I'm not surpised by it in Gears.

But who could possibly outdo Jim Carrey as the Riddler? What about the Penguin?
-
What's wrong with making it too easy with 5 players? That's your choice if you manage to get four other people to play with. I don't understand why developers choice to take choices away from their players.

Did it ruin your make-up?

So who is the next villian?

I'm waiting for the MMO that implements aging and crippling injuries. You level a character up, he or she reaches their prime, and then they start going downhill. But it's ok, you can retire and start a new generation, and maye leave them some neat trait or item to help them on their way to adulthood. The nice thing about it is the levelling treadmill would be gone, or at least improved. Right now you level and level and level. Then you either raid or you PvP. Developers focus all their energies on an endgame instead of expanding the early levels of the game. Ayways, just a thought. I'm tired of the current treadmill model, but I don't see it changing. People reach level caps too fast, what do you expect developers to do?

You really are repeating what I've been saying using different words. I agree with you wholeheartedly. It's ok to share an opinion with someone. You see, we both agree there is a glass, and in that glass is water. You are very sure that the glass is half full. I commend that attitude, it is positive and full of hope. I'm being more skeptical. I'm not saying it's half empty, I'm just choosing to sit on the fence in the matter. But there is no need to argue about it. It's just a matter of perspective.

I injured my butt. I was skating with my daughter (pushing her in a jogger while on rollerblades) and I slowed down to check on her. When I skated alongside, I leaned too hard on one side of the jogger. It started to fall, so I had to right it quickly, but I lost my balance. So the jogger was fine, but I went down hard on my buttocks. It's pretty uncomfortable. I can't really sit, and I've been icing it.

You are arguing with me over the use of "age" instead of "experience". All I'm saying is at his "age" he's had less time to accumulate "experience". I'm not sure why you are being so argumentative about it, I hope the kid succeed in the role.
-
This is weird Volourn, because you are saying the exact same thing that I'm saying, and then calling me wrong. "if you cna't handle being captain, you weren't the best player no matter how many goals you scored, or how fast you can skate." See, Toews is the probably the best goal scorer and maybe even the best skater on the Blackhawks. But yeah, that doesn't mean he can handle the captain position. Which is what you are saying, and what I said originally, and what you keep arguing with me over. I'm not trying to be a bully, I'm just confused why you argue with me when we have the same opinion on the matter.
-
Wow, grats! Put some pictures up when you can
-
Thank you for proving my point. Toews lacks experience, so it's very unlikely that he will be able to "use" it to be an effective captain. Sidney Crosby, on the other hand, has been under a microscope since he was in his early teens. He hasn't cracked, so it was a safer bet to put him in the role at a young age. So despite being about the same age, one has experience to learn from and one doesn't. There is a big difference between being the best player on the team and being the leader. I know, I've been the best player on most teams I've been on. I've been a captain and had terrible experiences with it. My production dropped. But give that job to someone else and I suddenly become much better. I may not be playing pro hockey, but that's the thing, the pressure is a lot less and I still saw it as a distraction. I want to focus on scoring goals and winning hockey games. Someone else can handle the leadership reigns. I learned that about myself at around age 23.
-
Captain is a leadership position. What exactly do you mean by "best" player? Does that mean the one who scores the most goals or assists? Is it the goalie, since he arguably has the most important position? Why isn't Brodeur captain then? I handle pressure better than I did when I was 20. I would say age has a lot to do with how you handle pressure. Sure, there are always exceptions, but generally with maturity comes wisdom, and the ability to cope with pressure better.
-
Wow, really? That might be a really bad idea. He's a very talented kid, but that's a lot of pressure for a sophomore. They should give it to Campbell or somebody with a few more years. I know it worked for Crosby, but that's a very different situation. Crosby is already in a tremendous limelight, he has been for a long time. That fact that he hasn't cracked shows he's an exception, not a rule.

Did you like the Tales demo? I bought Eternal Sonata and, although beautiful, just couldn't get into the game. The story dragged for me. Will Tales of Vesperia be the same, do you think?

David Gemmel books were a huge part of my teenage years. Without him I might not have become such an avid reader. He will definitely be missed, his books were quick and he had an amazing way of making action scenes easy to follow. Right now I'm into these Vampire Earth books by EE Knight. I thought they would be lame, given most vampire stuff is, but they really aren't. They move fast and have a very solid post-apocalyptic setting. The vampires aren't really standard definition vamps either.

Batman - Awesome. Commisioner Gordon has a pretty lousy house, I know they don't pay great, but he should be able to afford a better place than that. Maggie Gyllanhal (however you spell it) was fantastic. I didn't think the Dawson's Creek girl was terrible in the first, but Maggie showed how to do it right.

http://www.mmogchart.com/analysis-and-conclusions/ That clears up a lot of questions, and scrolling down, there's a great little history piece about each MMO. But yeah, he admits many games are guesswork on his part, so I'm not sure why I was chastised.
-
Those charts are terrible. They are hard to read and there's a good deal of guesswork involved. Turbine doesn't even make their numbers public knowledge, so who knows where that stuff comes from. And could they be harder to look at?
-
Yikes, I guess it did. I think I was just slow to buy it, now that you mention it I did buy the Battle Chest version a few month before WoW came out. But WoW did have a very long development time, I think they were in closed beta for almost two years. There mut have been some overlap for the projects.

It will be interesting to see how they handle the Jedi question. Maybe if they offer a variety of different Jedi classes, they will have more success than SWG. I'm almost in the camp that thinks the player shouldn't be able to be a Jedi, but I understand that would probably hurt sales. The game must be years away though, given the hush hush nature of the announcement. We could actually see KotOR III before KotOR Online. A MMO development cycle is a heck of a lot longer than KotOR. Warcraft III came out fairly close to WoW, so maybe they've got a similiar plan in the works.
