  1. You can definitely find more complexity in PC titles. The problem is most developers (ok, EA, but they kinda own the kingdom) want to release a new title every year. They probably see it as a better business decision to not make the game have too many layers, because that might cause folks to play it longer than a year and cut into their bottom line.
  2. Sports games have done well in the past on the PC, but they've struggled lately. Front Page Sports Football really did some amazing stuff that wasn't possible on the consoles at the time, and the NHL series pulled off 3d graphics successfully on the PC first. You will continue to see simulators (management games) probably stick to the PC as well. Without the technology edge (or rather a slim edge) the consoles have definitely pulled ahead though. I used to plug two controllers into a PC and play hockey with friends, but the TV is bigger and the consoles tend to come with controllers at the ready.
  3. They killed PC sports gaming. **** them I think hockey will still be on the PC, but yeah, Madden is off the PC's. I'm not surprised, it sells an insane amount on consoles and is a much smaller part of the PC market.
  4. There isn't really any offensive superstars still putting in a ton of goals at 38 that I can think of. Most guys start focusing on the assists at that age.
  5. I can hold my left foot in my right hand and jump through it with my right leg.
  6. It's almost as if some people like the side quests, while others don't. How bizarre.
  7. Speaking of EA, I'm really liking their recent decisions. They are packaging Head Coach with Madden this year, and it looks to be well worth the extra dough. EA is off my naughty list.
  8. It's weird because you guys are continueing to argue over this even though the scenario in question was completely false. The child was not taken out of the home for any moral reasons. The newspaper article left out crucial facts about the case.
  9. I already explained that a judge can decide if there is a legitimate reason behind the absences and they can place the children back in the home. But no judge is going to do so in this type of household. It's like putting an organized crime boss in jail for tax evasion. It's not necessarily illegal to be a mob boss, but the law is going to look for any legal excuse to get you in the end. If the parent really doesn't want their child in school, then they can register for home schooling. There are legal responsibilies for that. I aready explain, Volo, that High School and even Middle School are not nearly as rigorously watched as a 2nd grader. You learn to read in the k-3 grade range, so it's pretty dang important that the child attend school. The articles also don't say anything about absences just starting,t hey say 39 days and it seems to imply that was over the course of a single year. Given the "my parents were too lazy" explanation my guess is the absences were spread out, she probably went to school 3 days a week or so.
  10. The children are with a maternal aunt, not foster care. Not sending your children to school is neglect.
  11. I'm totally on Volo's side here. It's an odd feeling, but he's making a lot of sense.
  12. I'm playing quite a few titles right now, given that it's summer. JA2 - I just took my third city, the one with the hospital, so I'm filled to the brim with med kits. I have two squads running concurrently. GTA IV - I just killed some guy and managed to get his very sweet pad. I've decided to shamelessly start using cheats for better cars and armor boosts, I wasn't enjoying the game with how often I died on missions. Diablo 2 - I'm cheating at this one too, and just running through the first act. I really just want to play it to get a feel for the storyline, I'm not interested in challenging myself at all LotR Online - I'm almost level 43 with my captain. I'm exploring Angmar and the frozen Forechel. It's beautiful.
  13. I'm just saying this is the letter of the law, I'm not talking about any moral argument between birth parents and foster homes (the children are staying with a maternal aunt, by the way.) The 2nd grader missed 39 days in a year, that is two full months, and it didn't specify if that was the entire 180 day school year either. The law looks at that as an unfit home. Some judges may let it slide if there is a clearly good reason, but most judges looking at the whole picture here will gladly yank the children out of the household. So the moral of this story is if you want to raise your children as fascists, make sure they attend school regularly.
  14. Roloson got injured the next season, so we can't really look at evidence either way. Plus, goaltending is a hot/cold position. Doing well in the playoffs one year doesn't necessarily translate into success the following year. Giguere had a phenomenal Cup run a few seasons back and then stunk it up in the regular season the next year. He won the MVP in the playoffs that year despite his team losing, I believe. The Oilers were consistently outshot in the playoffs during their Cup run. I'm not saying Pronger doesn't deserve credit, as I said he's probably number 2 on the list, but Roloson deserves credit for his play.
  15. Weird ideas - not grounds for removal Too lazy to take to school - grounds for removal
  16. Oh man, what the heck is wrong with you two? Get that sig fixed
  17. How old were you? The girl is 7 years old, schools are a lot more vigilant about 2nd graders than they are middle and high schoolers. Did we all know she was a 2nd grader? Wow. That's young, I hadn't even really thought about that yet.
  18. Roloson took Edmonton to the finals on his back. You can give Pronger the number two spot, but without Rollie they go nowhere that year.
  19. It's almost E3, so it's probably part of their preparation for the show. E3 starts on July 14th. This is just that time of year, I suppose. It definitely doesn't have anything to do with the Diablo 3 announcement. Bioware has likely been planning this for months, just as Blizzard spent months preparing to showcase Diablo 3.
  20. I think people are missing the point...the children were taken away because of excessive absences in school and drug and alcohol use in the household. The Nazi stuff just raised the giant red flag for the authorities. The article was misleading and one-sided, further investigation made it pretty clear what happened.
  21. The battles are nice and quick though, and you tend to fight multiple mobs at the same time, which is usually bad news in other MMO's.
  22. Yep, copy protection really has nothing to do with the game. Plus quite a few folks played ME on the 360.
  23. I didn't know Obsidian posters were supposed to hate on Bioware titles. I'll be sure to amend my posts. Seriously though, ME was pretty well recieved on these forums.
  24. I'm surprised at how negative some of the posts are in this thread. 1. We know pretty little about the game 2. We weren't exactly drowning in good RPGs. This year has been a pleasant surpise with ME, Witcher, and MotB, but we had a pretty good dry spell for a bit. Between Fallout 2 and Dragon Age, we've got a pretty promising future too. Heck, even if you hate a couple of these titles, the fact is it is good for the genre as a whole. If RPG's are succeeding, you'll see more studios willing to try their hand at them, and more risks taken in order to find a place in the market.
