  1. Word. Actually 2 words "Shadow Invasion". I loved Asheron's Call as well. I only wished more MMOG's would learn from the good things this game provided. AC was awesome. It's the game that got me into MMO's. Turbine is still pulling off some pretty impressive stuff in LotR Online.
  2. The 2k edition used to be dead even with EA's version, but with the implementation of the skill stick, it's hard to imagine going back. 2k is supposed to be using a type of skill stick this year, though, so I'll keep an eye on it. It's not something I'll pick up on release, but it might be worth a try down the road. I'm pretty stoked about the make-a-player this year in 09. You get to take him through the minors before he reaches the big leagues. I loved the fact that they implemented all the minor league teams last year, even though the execution was a bit clunky.
  3. He's not really a saint in American Psycho.
  4. EA's NHL 09 is my top dog right now, so I'm not too interested in the 2k series. 08 was insanely good, and I know we've got quite a few folks planning on picking up the 09 edition.

That's great. I think the reason the opening ceremony was so fantastic was that it really highlighted all the amazing accomplishments of the Chinese people over the last couple thousand years.
  6. What company? Have you read anything about this game? It was one guy, as I just told you. I enjoy games in general. That's why I hang out on a gaming forum. But that isn't the only factor that goes into my game purchase. I understand that YOU buy games for different reasons than I do. That's wonderful, we are all entitled to our own reasons for purchase. But there isn't a right or wrong reason for a games purchase. You buy games for your reasons, and I buy games for my reasons. You don't need to argue about it.
  7. I really like that kid, he's done some great stuff. He's much scrawnier than Ledger though. I watched "Reign Over Me". It was pretty emotional. I was very surprised at how many comedic performers managed very serious scenes.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kent_State_shootings Hmm...
  9. "They" is an independent software developer named Jonathan Blow, who enlisted the help of a webcomic artist for the aesthetic style. They were probably not too far away from qualifying for welfare when they created it, although now that they've been supported by Microsoft they are probably doing much better financially. My post was in response to Llyr, who was on the fence. When you buy a game you are supporting the creators. I don't know why you are debating that. That is how I evaluate many of my purchases.
  10. I don't subscribe to the notion that a game needs to be beaten in order to be a worthwhile investment. I play games until they no longer feel fun. If I get 20 hours or so I feel pretty good about it. So it would be alot easier to list my completed games than my incomplete ones.
  11. Jericho is available to Gametap subscribers as well. I played it, seemed like a decent shooter.
  12. I don't think there was anything remotely realistic about the ending. If they were in immediate danger, I MIGHT see him taking the action that he did. But they were just sitting there peacefully. It would have to take someone very far removed from their right mind to go through with that action, and that wasn't how Thomas Jane was portrayed at all throughout the movie. So it completely went against common sense and the character that had been created. It was lame.
  13. Well, I figure $15 isn't exactly a huge amount to support an independant, creative endeavor like this. Even if it grows old fast, it's the kind of project I'm comfortable supporting from a financial end.

Don't worry people just get easily distracted by bright lights and lots of well-choreographed bull****. Spoken like someone who has never choreographed **** in their life. Getting that many people on the same page was one of the most tremendous achievements I've ever seen, and that was just the first drum number. They went on and on with it.

Except China isn't one guy who we can put on trial. China is a country of billions and is made up of 20 something ethnic groups. The olympics aren't just for the government, they are also for the billions of people that live in China. This is something that the entire nation can be proud of.
  16. This thread is clearly about BF2 on the PC. I don't understand why you resurrected it. I love BF2 and 2142, I still load them up occassionally. A lot of servers boot for bunny hopping as well. The slower strategic pace than most FPS games appeals to my old man-ness.

NBC is airing it during primetime, as a direct feed would be a pretty lousy timeslot. I'm watching it right now. It's amazing. China has raised the bar for the Olympics. Politics aside, this is a major accomplishment for the people of China and one they should take immense pride in.
  18. Braid - Fantastic. Solved the second world (I guess one is the main area?) and traversed the 3rd. There are some pretty crazy puzzles in this thing. Very unique.
  19. I just got back from the maiden voyage in the RV. It went great and I was surprised how easy everything was to learn. An unexpected bonus is that my condo now feels like a gigantic mansion!
  20. Have you played LotR Online? Despite following a storyline that most people know, Turbine has managed to put you in the thick of the action. You go on quests with famous characters. There is a whole questline where you gather everything needed to reforge Aragorn's sword. MMO's don't need to be devoid of character development and dramatic storylines, they just need to make it accessible to all characters. Yes, it's difficult to change the game world as a player, but there are ways to create the illusion. Using instances for major plot developments is a way to do that. So where a low level character might find Strider at the Prancing Pony early on, higher characters can see him at Rivendell via instanced rooms.
  21. Fallout - Good, but a bit clunkier than I remember. I think I'll be more into Fallout Tactics whenever that gets released.
  22. Oh, that's safe to say. I just don't think they butchered the history like JFK or that Alexander movie a few years ago (thank you Oliver Stone.) I'm not saying it's historical fiction, either, but they did take some lengthy steps to recreate the sinking as accurately as possible.
  23. Well, to say the least, they took some liberties with history. Would you like to give some examples? I watched the documentary, the only thing that was clearly made up was the necklace storyline.
  24. Llyr and Nick will be in heaven if the portable bed allows co-op play.
  25. Heh, that same quest was in the original Fable. The name isn't as cumbersome as the previous titles. That's good. It will be interesting to see how these play on the 360. I never played the first two.
