"Maidan" in US
You are operating from the mistaken impression the federal government gives a sh-t about the environment. The people in the government don't care about land they don't live near. They care about their money, their power, their continuation in office. If they have to run agricultural or other interests off that land to sell it to someone else so be it. And if they can cloak their business dealings in the pseudo-morality of helping the environment then that would just be the icing on the cake. The Bundy situation is pretty close to matching that description to a T. One of my favorite quotes is "Government is small minded people grasping for power under the guise of advancing high minded ideals". That kind of sounds like a campaign push for Al Gore

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS
The EULA is probably better used to protect against a lawsuit than as something a company would use to go after someone. When a company bans a customer from using the product they paid for, they are taking on a legal risk, and the EULA is one of to tools they can use to mitigate that risk. It would be interesting to see a group of players try and put together a class action lawsuit, but I doubt you will find a legal firm interested in such a case. edit: I just realized I pretty much said what volo said. :D

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS
A complete rollback would be ridiculous. The vast majority of players have not exploited the game at all. I've put in a pretty big chunk of hours in the first few weeks, I'd probably walk away from the game if they did that. Not that they will.

While I agree with you for the most part, it is important to note that within those parties you have a pretty diverse group of politicians. John McCain doesn't really have much in common with your tea party candidates for example, and in California our Democratic governor is more of a fiscal conservative than quite a few Republicans.

"United States' claims at being a democracy seriously threatened"
Just to add a bit of a positive spin, the average citizen still has a lot of different ways to exert their influence on the US. Voting is one aspect, but corporations cannot afford to simply ignore the middle and lower classes. They still have to at least create the illusion that they are looking out for the best interests of the common people. Why do oil companies bother investing in alternative energy? Why does change.org ever manage to change anything? Why do civil rights continue to progress? Public pressure is still a very effective tool in this country.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS
Weird, I've been playing the game like crazy and I haven't heard anything about this. Although the guild banks have been down a lot over the last week.

I can see some criticisms of Dishonored, but I don't understand complaining about the graphics. I thought they did a great job of creating a unique style and capturing an industrialization age city.

What you did today
Ok, looks like I've got a pretty solid 24 day RV trip planned for the summer. We are hitting Las Cruces, San Antonio, New Orleans, Memphis, Branson, Dodge City, and Santa Fe. It will definitely cross a lot of states off my list. I just spent a few hundred bucks replacing the engine battery and getting the RV ready for the trip, so I'm ready.

What you did today
I'm trying to plan my summer trip, and I'm having some struggles with the route home regarding what cities I should stop in. My big struggles are: Oklahoma City versus Dodge City Should I stop in Amarillo Texas? Santa Fe versus Albuquerque

Movies you've seen recently
I dive through the Erin Brokovich town a few times a year. It is a modern day ghost town, very creepy.

The NHL Thread.
Wow, way too much time went by without a post. First round predictions, a bit late: Boston over Detroit in 6 Tampa over Montreal in 7 Columbus over Pittsburgh in 6 New York over Philly in 5 Stars over Ducks in 7 San Jose over LA in 6 Minnesota over Colorado in 7 St. Louis over Chicago in 7 It looks like we've got some pretty solid matchups. I'm watching the Blue Jackets fight the Pens right now and I like what I see.

Elder Scrolls Online
Up to level 21. The crafting system continues to impress, in fact I've struggled to stick to a couple disciplines and instead I'm pumping skill points into almost everything. It's just too cool. I've been making custom sets, upgrading them, and applying enchantments. It's powerful. The narrative is pretty solid as well, I'd put it a notch above everything since Morrowind. I think it benefits from the hub system, it's more focused whereas previous ES games were so open that it often made it easy to lose track of any story elements. The mage's guild basically continues the Shivering Isles story of the mad Daedric prince, and that was a very good choice. It's been the highlight for me so far.

I don't really have expectations for the Warriors without Bogut. I mean I'd love for them to get hot and move forward, but without his defensive presence, they are going to struggle. That might be for the best, actually, since I think expectations were too high for this young team in the 6th seed. They've got health issues with both of their big men, Curry is really only in his second healthy season, and Klay Thompson is an erratic scorer. Throw in the coaching issues, and I'd say it is healthy to just be happy that they made the playoffs.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS
In regards to WoD being cancelled, I can't say I'm surprised. It was announced a lifetime ago, and there was never any real progress shown. Plus isn't CCP working on some Eve MMO where you get out of your ships more?

I'm pretty sure comparing the face of a major tech company and a video game voice actress is a bad idea. But do continue Bester.

What you did today
I'm sooo tired of this cough that has been plaguing my household. My son is finally in the clear for the most part after a month, and my wife and daughter are past the worst of it. But it has flared up my asthma terribly and I've been wheezing like crazy. I already went through a round of steroids, and my inhaler is getting a workout. The crazy thing is I ran 4 miles yesterday with no problems, but when I try to go to sleep, or I'm just resting, it flares up.

Calm down, it's an awareness campaign. Malala has already accomplished a tremendous amount in her young life. I feel extremely lucky that I get to watch her continue to impact the world we live in. Her voice resonates deeply with my students.

Pictures of your games Part 4
Once I found out that you actually have to defeat the main boss three times, I pretty much gave up trying in FTL. I still like exploring the systems.
