The Weird, Random or Interesting Things That Fit Nowhere Else Thread

Probably a typical overcorrection for generations of repression. It will even out over time. -
Futile and Stupid Gesture - Pretty interesting biography, had me hitting up the internet for me info since most of the stuff was a bit before my time. It didn't paint Chevy Chase in a very good light, that's for sure. Worth a watch if you want to know more about National Lampoon.

Timberlake put in a solid show. That Prince tribute was fantastic, I admit I teared up a bit. Nice moment for the greatest musician ever in his home town.

Yep, the KIndle has basically tripled my reading. The fact that I can go looking for all sorts of strange genre books on any topic is pretty great. Still, I am bummed that there are a number of books that still haven't been released on the Kindle. Also I don't get how magazines are often more expensive on the KIndle than they are if you subscribe to the print edition.

Nerdgasm: Movies and Shows for Geeks and Nerds

Or a galaxy far, far away. -
So I've been trying to watch Battlestar Galactica. I'm near the end of the first season. The lack of actual science fiction elements bothers me greatly. I'm more of a Stargate guy where there is a fair amount of explanation for everything, but right now in BSG there is just a lot of space magic. People make really dumb decisions all over the place. Does it get better? Is it worth continuing?

I love Guns of Navarrone. I also found Rogue One's character to be very memorable and interesting, so I like the parallel. -
Remember how everyone really liked Sarah Palin at first? Until she started.. you know... saying things. I'm not even sure about there being a period of like. She was not even well regarded by the few Alaskans I knew. But yeah, that was a bummer because I was a fan of McCain.

I was on track to be the next great American novelist until I met my wife in college and became happy and boring.

I like John Krasinsky. I've been re-watching The Office with my daughter and it pretty interesting how much he grew as a performer as that show progressed. It will be interesting to see if he can make the jump to a more dramatic role, but I'm pleased by the choice. When I saw the poster I actually thought they cast Shia Lebouf, so I'm relieved it isn't that nutjob. They sure dropped Chris Pine quickly. I liked him as Ryan, but he is more of an action-y guy than an intel type guy that Ford and Baldwin portrayed. Kind of odd to think that Affleck, who is probably the worst Ryan to date, was able to brilliantly play an autistic action hero in the accountant but struggled to pull off an intel guy.

I haven't watched any of them, and honestly most of the stuff listed as award worthy by critics hold little interest to me.

To be fair to GRR Martin, he has put out a fair amount of content, even though he seems to struggle to wrap stuff up. Rothfuss is taking forever to finish a trilogy about 1 character.

Danny McBride can turn a turd into comedy gold better than anyone. I mean, it will still be a turd, but it will be funny.

My hip has been bothering me a bit, but I think it is just the introduction of cycling to my workout, plus the breastroke kick doesn't do me any favors. I think I just need to stretch it out more and build it up.

HuffPo probably has a similar reach to Breitbart. Actually probably even broader.

I haven't seen it, but it rather timely given current racial tensions in the US. Thay may be political, but credit is deserved for reading the pulse and reacting to it promptly.

Pretty sure Trump will bring back the USFL next.

I'll have to pick up that Seals book. They are still pretty legendary in these parts.

I just got finished talking with my daughter who is gushing about this game she wants to play. Let us know if u finish it and how it is please I'm not sure if I will ever really "finish" it. I'm about 10 hours in and there is a whole lot of ocean left to explore. I just built my first sub to go along with my base. I highly recommend it. You can really go at your own pace and play it slow and easy or push deeper into the depths.

I wish I could play it without the monsters Yeah I got eaten by some big scary face thing earlier and I was super ticked about the resources I lost. But usually it's my own fault when I die.

I made my first sea base in Subnautica, a quaint series of tubes hanging above a kelp forest. This game is much more than I expected it to be. The story aspects are really quite good.

Not a trailer, but my favorite intro...

I guess it sounds a bit like what they do with Diablo. -
Really depends on the Union. Just like the government, the larger they are, the more useless they are for the average person. The disparities I've seen just in teacher's unions is crazy.
