  1. Seems like almost all the new homes being built today have HOA's.
  2. Crowdunding games is such a weird thing. Realistically you should recognize that your investment may never come to fruition. But then again, I just got Hero-U ages after it was due and it turned out to be a gem, so who knows?
  3. Taking on a Wraith in Hero-U was quite a challenge. Crazy thing about tgis game is how few hints there are about how to proceed. It feels like an old school adventure because I have to puzzle stuff out myself.
  4. Hard to say the delusion is any worse than the crazy stuff that was being said about Obama. I mean, he was a Muslim foreigner working with ISIS to implement Shari'ah, after all.
  5. Isn't that a definition of flop? Not doing the numbers makers was hoping for? Confused. Flop sounds more like being in the red. A game can turn a profit and still not do the numbers that are expected.
  6. Thanks Keyrock, it's fascinating to hear what the truck drivers go through. For me and my little RV, it's really about heat management, because my engine is just not able to handle the climbs like it used to. Today I left early enough to get through the Los Angeles commute cleanly, then took 395 northwards along the eastern side of the Sierras. It was 100 degrees out. We hit one really tough climb that went from 5000 feet to 8000 in about 10 miles. I blasted the heater, rolled down the windows, and just held on tight at around 35 mph. We survived though, and thankfully the heat was more like 85 degrees at 8000 feet. Sadly we hit a ton of smoke where we planned on camping for the night. There is a big fire in Yosemite. We pushed on for another hour and came out of it, and found a nice park to stay in. Still it was a solid 10 hours of driving. Off to Tahoe tomorrow for my triathlon.
  7. Only way to get strong on hills is to climb them. Over and over. Today I had one hill to climb, but it was 1000 feet up over less than a mile, and the steepness had me gasping. Going down was worse though, I am a big chicken. Keyrock, how does your rig handle climbs in the heat? My 10 year old rv is pretty cranky. I basically blast the heater with the windows down while we climb mid-day, and I keep it around 45. It is stressfull every time.
  8. Damn, Ray Emery passed away. I loved watching his style of goaltending.
  9. Geez, these politicians are dumb. At least Ron Paul caught on pretty quickly when he had the Bruno interview.
  10. Yesterday we went to California Grand Adventures and had a pretty good time. The new Guardians of the Galaxy ride (formerly Tower of Terror) was excellent, they really went above and beyond on the design of the place. Sometimes the best part of these Disney rides is just walking through the lines. Today I'm doing laundry and grocery shopping, then probably going for a long bike ride. Tomorrow we drive out towards Yosemite.
  11. Hero-U is simply everything I hoped it would be. We really need more adventure-rpg games. But it helps that the Coles just know how to write. I wish I could expect more of these in the future, but the Coles seemed pretty exhausted by the process.
  12. No to all 3 questions, but I doubt it needs big numbers to be a success.
  13. Two most likely routes are to become an established writer and then use your status to connect with a studio, or learn at least basic development skills so you can create your own work. There are lots of tools out there that require little coding. RPGMaker is an easy way to get comfortable with making a game, and has a fair amount of flexibility to implement a story. Probably a good starting point.
  14. Mine would probably be an exploration based mmorpg based on real world locations with low magic and lots of history based lore. Probably with a medieval time frame. Also I would like Shadowrun with Jagged Alliance 2 strategy and character interaction. HBS came close, but I want more strategy, team development, etc.
  15. Well my RV is over a decade now and has its fair share of issues, but I still love it. Speaking of which, we are on a trip right now. Not quite epic enough to create a big thread, but I did bring bikes for the first time and went on a great long ride to the beach today. Also got lucky with a jeep for a rental car.
  16. I've also got a good game of Hero-U going. The game is super charming. I'm probably too well behaved to make a good disbarred bard at the moment.
  17. I have a few bottles of oxycodone lying around the house. They are a hassle to dispose of.
  18. Honestly I would never bet against the incumbent. Bush had some pretty low numbers going into his second election, and Kerry was a fairly inoffensive candidate, and Bush still won solidly. Oprah could probably pull it off. But that is just because the absurdity of it all will cancel out the effect.
  19. Well I am certain that complaining about a comic book movie was worth losing a job/career over. I mean, you can't just let these things slide.
  20. Community college professors are more insecure about their jobs, and so they justify it with more work.
  21. If we're being honest must be code for something just being your opinion. I consider Wicket a better comparison to Jar Jar.
  22. We are clearly not on the same page. Users and game journalists bring more to the table than just their opinions. You stated that you watch videos in order to make informed decisions on game purchases. Those videos must be coming from the publishers, journalists, or players. You are calling them 'completely useless' and 'terrible terrible' but you are still relying on the content they are providing. I don't think there is anything wrong with being critical of their opinions, but your hyperbole comes across as contradictory.
