  1. What choice are you talking about here? My memory is fuzzy. After you complete the Aslyum at Brynnlaw you get a choice whether to sail back to the mainland or make the journey through the Underdark. If you choose the ship you get boarded, sunk and you enter the City of Caverns. You eventually make your way to the Underdark. Or you just choose the Underdark and lose that entire area.
  2. You'll find her later, but there's a pure fighter that will gel perfectly for your role playing. Mazzy. Seek her out. Mazzy's pretty cool. Voiced by Jen Hale as well I think.
  3. I agree! Choice and Consequence. What an absurdly stupid concept for an RPG! The choice and consequence between choosing the thieves or vampires made sense and it's really well executed. If instead of going on the ship you went to a different area before the Underdark then that would've been brilliant, but cutting content for choosing the wrong dialogue option isn't choice and consquence in terms of RPG mechanics, it's just bad design.
  4. I would advise trying (at least) BG2Fixpack BG2 Tweak Pack (unlimited item stacking yo - and the rest) BG2 Unfinished Business One Pixel Productions at the very minimum The game is so much better with mods. I can feel the judgement oozing out my speakers Cheers dude, will be giving these a try later.
  5. Get out of my house! j/k - you're alright. FTR though when did you first play BG2? Ashen Rohk ? 2002ish, I think - ToB was out and I played them back to back. I certainly had it before IWD2 came out and finished it, but IWD was my gateway game. I've never played it modded either, although I've had Gibberlings kept in my bookmarks since I found out about them. And I sucked pretty bad at it at the time, so there was a lot of spam resting involved! I felt they really got the interface right in IWD2. Like a nice polished version of Torment's but without a click wheel. I really loved playing through it back then, but vanilla hasn't aged well for me. Are there any mods you could recommend?
  6. I cannot stand BG2. I hate Imoen. I hate Imoen. I cannot stress this enough. F*ck Imoen. I hate the AWFUL spell animations, I came from IWD where it doesn't look like the 1970s. I hate the nasty UI. Again, I came from IWD. Everything looks nicer there. I hate the rejigged paperdolls. I hate the first half of the story. I hate the fact THERE IS NO PURE THIEF IN THE GAME. YOSHIMO DOESN'T COUNT. I hate Illithids. I hate the fact that the game gives you a choice whether or not to cut a massive chunk out of the game after Spellhold and thereby preventing you from getting the last bit of Crom Faeyr. Honestly, who the f*ck thought that was a good idea. I hate spam resting. That said, I love Baldur's Gate 2. I love the party interactions. I love Throne of Bhaal, especially when Aerie gives birth. Mad jokes. I love the huge scale of the game. I love having a stronghold. The NPCs I do like, I love. Keldorn, Korgan, Minsc (and Boo!), Viconia... I like the big keep dungeon thingy, whatever it was called. I love the fact its 250 hours of pure, unadulterated RPG heaven. I like a lot more about PoE at this point than I do about BG2. But then again, I was always more partial to the IWD series.
  7. I would rather sand my own balls off than sign up to RPG Codex. You like any game after 2005 and you're treated like you have leprosy. I do find it a bit weird that somewhere other than their own forums is where you get the most interaction.
  8. ITT: Chanters are the bomb. I think Resolve does work, seems to be okay in current build. On the paladin thing from last page, in the early BB builds they were OP as all hell and LoH did far too much healing.
  9. Flaming weapon first, then the one that reduces stamina over time. Hell, I have 5 chants on one cycle going, topped off with the chill chant. Completely ruins enemy parties.
  10. Wouldn't work very well, maybe get some injury debuff, injured arm, injured leg, bruised face, etc lasting till rest. And make rest remove only half of existing injuries rouded up starting with oldest. Yes, would be awesome. If you're health goes to zero, when you get back up you have -5 to all stats anyway. Are you suggesting something like Wasteland 2's system when a character goes down? I can't see it working that well in PoE.
  11. Everything to me looks crisper and more defined, not played extensively but a lot of the mesiness from v364 has gone, but haven't left the village as of yet. I need to fiddle with the Ranger to see what the problem is but I did feel it was the least satisfying class all the way back in 257.
  12. Made a video about the new/restored talent and skill system and a touch of the UI updates:
  13. Love the talent/skill do-over. No stuttering for me on VO either. Rig: i5, 8GB Ram, GTX760, solid 60fps on Shadowplay.
  14. Oh no! D: Hope it's sorted out soon. When not recording, do the Fraps numbers still drop like that? Just mindful that Fraps is a massive system drain when recording (yay Shadowplay).
  15. There are no real spoilers, just technical data Sure as hell hasn't seen this before :
  16. Well, if this isn't some great work. Won't be spoiling the game for myself though!
  17. I'll be recording a full playthrough for my YT channel, and keeping an eye on patch notes, community and some mods - although I'm not big on modding unless it's bonus content/serious fixes.
  18. I was super pissed about how simple Mass Effect 2's character customisation was, but the story and characters more than make up for it. I'm hoping the same for DA:I, as the skill trees are a little simple (but I've not got class specialisation yet). Wasteland 2's is pretty damn awesome, and despite my hate for the game, FF10 had an awesome magic system with the skill wheel thing. This might be just me, but everytime I try and old school dungeon crawler from Arena, Wizardy, a couple of the Gold Box ones, they just feel the same to me. Done one, done 'em all. I can even overlook completely retarded mechanics like Morrowind's combat if the world is well crafted and the story is well written. Also, can someone, OBJECTIVELY, explain this engagement mechanic and why people seem to hate it? So far as i can gather it's AoO but only from people who were engaged on you in combat?
  19. That's not true actually, there are way more role players and storyfag gamers on the RPGCodex - that is why Planescape: Torment keeps winning the best RPG every time. As great as Torment is, I think it's more the fact that RPGCodex refuse to acknowledge any RPG after 2006 which is why that Top 70 list was filled with everyone version of Wizardry and Ultima they could find. I really dig what Sensuki is doing but I'm not really about the mechanics as long as they don't completely suck - I'm still on the fence with the engagement mechanic as I have to test it out more.
  20. Did you... check the options menu? I did not!
  21. Well, first chance I've had to play a new PoE build in six weeks! EDIT: HOLY HELL THE LAST BUILD I PLAYED WAS 261! Overall, the feel is a lot better, combat feels smoother. There's been a ton of great work on it, will put my thoughts into a video soon. Agree with the screenshot comments about the VFX, needs a bit of cleaning up especially with the webs/grass. Also, some really silly spelling mistakes and errors in tool hints e.g. states 'cipher' in a tooltip for a chanter spell. Finally, a really REALLY small niggle: Get rid of the damn prefered stat starts/tips in character creation. We're not daft and it's not that bloody hard to figure out.
  22. I usually agree with most things Sensuki says, but I'm not with you on the beetles. The poison effect was waaaay too powerful and I didn't find them as fun as opposed to some of the other fights in the map. The boost to having three wood beetles at the north exit of the map after main beetle encounter on normal is beyond unnecessary - it's just overpowered trash with a huge condition hit. I much preferred the combo of spiders inside the cave, having to deal with multiple effects at the same time.
  23. Just had a quick look at the changes made, on the surface I really like the adjustments to the stats. Will have to play some more to see other implemented changes.
