PC - Better Graphics with mid-range cards mid generation cycle, better controls for CRPGs, FPSs and RTSs. Does a ton of stuff besides gaming. Gamecube - Has a ton of high quality games, quirky, but you're more likely to find a good game than a bad game on it. Durable as hell, because there's a lot less to go wrong with it. Also the cheapest, because there's a lot less in it/to go wrong with it. PS2 - Massive library, harder to find quality titles than with Gamecube, but still many good games on it. Not nearly as durable as Gamecube. Xbox - Only two, maybe three titles I really enjoy (the two Oddworlds, maybe Jade Empire). The rest have either been ported to PC decently, or I could honestly care less about. PC will definitely gain an edge almost from the get go next generation with the advent of the PPU cards. PS3 and Xbox 360 will not have one, Revolution might as the specs haven't been released yet.

This guy is kidding, right? Right?!? Yann: You have every right to be "old fashioned," as you call it. However, once you draw that line for more people than yourself, then I do believe that "bigot" can also apply. By "other things" you wouldn't mean perhaps such improper thoughts as civil rights, equality, and/or self-determination, would you? Jeez, you would think that if this guy had read any of the content of this thread.... Nevermind. Cloris <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Just smile, nod, realize he is a troll, or a person with very odd taste in webcomics for someone so 'old-fashioned' (His avatar is a depiction of HK-47 from VG-Cats, one of the more well known strips in that comic is of Mario, coming to one of the castles, finding Toad, Toad says 'The Princess is not in this castle but another one' or some such, Mario says 'Who says I'm here for the Princess?', they proceed to turn the lights out and presumably have relations, considering the last panel is a Koopa turning on the light, while Mario and Toad have their pants down. ) Anyhow...I'm back from So-Cal.

Advent Rising theatrical trailer
Child of Flame replied to Meshugger's topic in Computer and Console
The problem that bugs me the most is the targeting. I haven't played this yet, but could the targeting be a console-specific-thing? There's really no reason to have auto-target in a PC game what with the mouse, and I don't think I've ever seen it in a good game. Hrm, perhaps those are the key words, in a good game. I'm still keeping an eye on this game, but I'm not looking forward to it as much, and I'll be reading a PC review before I buy for sure. It's a shame, as Bailey said, here's to hoping they know nothing about a good story. -
Microsoft has RARE. Anyhow, I'm getting a Revolution, then either an Xbox 360 or PS3. I'll really have to see how both of them perform in reality and how much of this is BS media-hype before I choose to buy anything other than the Revolution.

Super Smash Brothers Melee. Awesome game, and practically anyone can pick up a controller and be playing in minutes. The combat system has a lot of depth at the same time though. I must've put in 5 or 6 hours on that game since I got it going head to head with my younger sister. Second for Eternal Darkness, it's a delightfully creepy game. I liked the SNES Harvest Moon, I don't know how the Gamecube version turned out as I haven't had a chance to pick it up yet, it might be worth looking at some reviews though. If you don't have it on one of the other platforms already, Spiderman 2 is worth a purchase.

WINNAR! It's still wrong though...

Are you talking boughten pirated DVDs or internet piracy? Internet piracy is rather different, the most obvious difference being the only expenses lost are those of bandwidth. Yes, the copyright owner will possibly (I say possibly because no one is quite sure how many people who pirate would have actually bought said goods anyway) not see money for whatever was downloaded, but no 'crook' profits, the downloader obviously gains. I'm not advocating piracy, what I said earlier was a joke because of the vehement tone of the thread starter. OMIGAWDS! LUCAS IS NOT GETTING ALL HIS MONIES BECOZ PPL R DOWNLOADING LOW GRADE PIRATED COPIES OF EPISODE III MADE WITH MINI-DV CAMS IN A THEATRE!!! ZOMGS! I don't pirate anything except for old borderline legal ROMs (I say borderline legal because even though the ROMs are technically illegal, the game companies don't generally have a problem and tend to turn a blind eye. ), even if I had a proper net connection to actually the extent of my 'piracy' would likely be trying stuff before seeing whether I wanted to buy it or not (PC games with no available demo for example, or music I'm unfamiliar with) then deleting it when I'm through. Truly though, some small music artists encourage piracy as it gives them more exposure they wouldn't otherwise get, the only people who really lose monies from it are music giants selling multi-platinum albums. Pirated DVDs sold on the 'black market' are another matter entirely, as they often come from unsavoury sources, and the sellers are turning a profit over someone else's work. I think internet piracy is somewhat more innocuous, however wrong or right it is.

Here in California?! What is this "woods" you speak of? Aren't they meant to near those fabled "antelope"? ^_^ <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Through the Desert, across the Bay [Area], and up the Feet of the Titans. There, you will find the Valley of Grass, and the outlying area in which I live.

Nope, that's evolution, on the only scale someone in the present day is likely to find evidence for it. That kind of evolution can take place in a few generations. Only people who call it 'micro-evolution' are 'Creation Scientists'. Thier 'research' is mostly taken out of context.

I find this absolutely outrageous Eru! I for one, am simply shocked and dismayed... ...how can you still be using dialup?! ^_^ <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I live in the woods, we don't even have Cable, and while Satellite works alright for TV, it's worse for gaming than Dialup. :'(
-
Well that's dumb. That's a longer sentence than murderers get in some places. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's not murder if no one knows... Go for the eyes Eru! Go for the eyes! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Guys, I must confess, I was not damaging George Lucas. If I was not on this cruddy dialup connection, I would have downloaded a pirated copy of Episode III, but alas, it takes too long on 28kbps. I am an immoral liar, but not an immoral thief!

Even though this has been covered in adequate detail previously, I have a comment, too. There are precious few games where the protagonist is a serial killer. (I never played "Man Hunt", nor do I wish to; even that "Hitman" series is mostly offensive for commoditizing murder (of undesirables), much the way a vigilante might, and I found that too limited to play, too). GTA, for all the hype, is about being a better criminal, which, ironically, helps remove the criminals from the cities. (So you could argue that the protagonist could always do an Al Pacino in The Godfather Part III and exercise contrition to become a reformed repenter. :D ) Murder is a staple, but we are constantly killing d

Fingerman is saying the Sony consoles are pretty good. He says many Chinese gamers buy them. Fingerman however hates them because he is of the opinion that the games on them are garbage. Did I translate your thoughts correctly Fingerman?
