  1. Quite a few complained about that, always thought it was clear enough. The way they worded the quest made me stop at least cause I felt it was a point of no return. Different temperaments I guess.
  2. I was saying many players lamented the changes they demanded. Not X was inherently better than Y. That said, I personally think the Oblivion and Fallout 3'ification of games is one of the worst things to happen to the Rpg genre (not gaming in general mind you) in the last decade. But thats another discussion.
  3. So yeah, lets get back on the road to the white house. I hear Kanye has thrown himself into the fray.
  4. What would this include? Because from what I've seen, if they've killed an enemy, they don't necessarily move on to the next one and I haven't seen one use a skill on their own.Patch notes http://forums.obsidian.net/blog/7/entry-186-update-notes-200/
  5. They have a part AI now, which thry didnt before.. Now they dont need as much micromanagement.
  6. That would be my prefered stance actually, but I realize that is somewhat extreme.. Imo, It cheapens our experience when we are allowed to customize everything and its a mindset Ive seen cause great sacrifices to story and lore for player convinience - something the player base often laments afterwards ironically.. Like Morrowind to Oblivion.
  7. Thats my point, shouldnt they change? From a mechanic point of view? How can a 3 resovle Durance believe what he does? How can an 18 int Eder's dialouge work.. It messes with the cosistency of the game's mechanics expressed to the player. Also there are mods available right now, that YOU can use.. Which offers what you want. I've heard that “artistic integrity” worked so well for Mass Effect 3 :} One man's “artistic integrity” is another man's pain in the ass. Whether it works or not is actually, in so far as what we are discussing, irrelevant. But yeah in ME3 they should've stuck to their original ieea, instead of what they thought would be more epic. But to equally rethoric, did all the infinity games fail as well?
  8. Should have picked EU2 though as it is basically 1 with better features. But yeah I still play 2 from time to time, its very charming
  9. Neuromancer kickstarted the cyberpunk genre, but obviously this also means you'll be seeing the plot twists a mile away.. Still a recommendable read.
  10. You provide no "strong" counterargument? In fact your point rest on the assumption that the mechanics of the game are only there to further your particular style of play and internal and logical consitency must naturally take a backseat to this.. Which I disagree with, as do many others. So why is this argument "stronger" than prefering that the artistic integrity of the developer's original idea of the character is preserved?
  11. Wish we could alternate in the 15-20c range and sooo many small showers.
  12. The problem is that all games are not always 100% suitered to fun.. Some have an artistic vision, a locked story arc or overall theme that may conflict with 'fun' gameplay. Like mask of betrayers spirit eater mechanism. Where the story and its branching and consequences are more important than 'fun'. Bethesda games are good examples of a company who's sole mission is fun. Obsidian is not... Now if that's not your kind of thing, cool no problem. But playing beyond the ending here or in bg 1 or 2 or throne of bhall, planescape, mask of betrayer and you know all the games Pillars is similar too is not done.. Because it conflicts with the primary function of the game - the story telling.
  13. Please remember that this sub forum is spoiler free - and if you have any spoiler questions etc I redirect you to the "Stories" section where you can spoil away.
  14. The markets are unstable because they are competetive. Even if we had a "perfect" market, there would still be recessions and upswings, its inherent in the system. Only way to get rid of them is to change the system entirely. But you're right that they would probably (and that's an uncertain probably) not be as bad if there was no "too-big-to-fail" player actively encouraging/speculating in market instability.
  15. After reading the Valis trilogy I realized you have to read him as if reality as we know it, is just something we happened to agree on and therefore should we agree on something different, everything is up for graps. He's like the zanier Star Trek episodes - on drugs.
  16. Oh man, you have to - I know its like the quintessential, but it really is a great piece of historical work.
  17. Phillip K. Censoredword - The Man in The High Castle. Love me some Phillip K. he's probably my favorite sci fi author, mostly because his mind seems so alien to me and yet his worlds are still logically consitent. Although "Flow My Tears the Policeman Said" was a bit too weird for me, this one seems much more grounded.. Also love contrafactual history, so its a win win.
  18. That's how steam does it these days.
  19. I do have a very attractive single cousin actually. But she's very.. Career minded.
  20. Got this baby for a friend.. Quite a kicker at 50 proof, but a great overall taste and texture. Not much of a whiskey guy (prefer Rum and sweeter alcohols) but it was an interesting one.
  21. So how would you explain Scandinavia ranking better in competition, ease of making buisness, lower corruption, democratic participation and on and on...? We've had much much stricter government oversight and taxation than you guys for basically 150 years. Shouldn't we have devovled into totalitarian states by now? By your definitions... Scandinavian countries have for the most part free-markets. All of them rank high in freest market ratings I've ever seen. Yes and no. There are very complex laws and regulations as well as chinese level government oversight (they come by often for inspiration actually)... The difference is, the government here is actually somewhat competent and widely trusted to carry out its job - in large part due to citizen participation and cooperation.
  22. We call that culture 'Stateist individualism'.. And without it I would never advocate the Nordic model, otherwise you get Venezuela.. No matter how small or big the country. So it wasn't to say its inherently superior just that socialiam or a socialist mindset doesn't always equal opression.
  23. Edit: in any case - I'd love to see an America with much more power given back to the individual states.. Your strength is your pluralism, centralization doesn't seem to fit you as well as us of a more Germanic mindset.. Perhaps its some of that Italian ancestry, they never could handle it either..
  24. *Looks down at self and worn out clothing*.. I may not be Scandinavian after all. Or maybe I'm the only one actually paying for it all.
  25. So the media here is in love with the idea that Trump is gaining actual ground (US politics are viewed in popular media as somewhat eccentric as it is) - so asking the Americans, is there any reality to that at all? or is it just people saying "sure" for the hell of it, when asked?
