Storyline Theory
Ulic defeats Mandalore in single combat .. Mandalore wearing his Basilik (or how its spelled) and Ulic with his lightsaber .. Ulic defeats Mandalore and he swears alligeance to him! Ulic then sets off to conquer Corusant with the Mandalorian army in his back, but Exar Kun doesn't think its a good idea .. And says that Ulic will do so without his help! Ulic is defeated and Exar comes to rescue him ..

Party from kotor
he was a human. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He was a Twi'lek in my game .. And I didn't really like Zaalbar or T3-M4 .. But I don't want to eliminate them! Mission brought some nice youth and optimism to the party! and I really liked Juhani, Carth, Jolee and Bastilla they all were excellent voice acted .. and really felt like complete beings to me .. who was tormented by mistakes in their pasts ..

Why are they always Human??
Its just to give a point of references to "normal" people .. While I do not doubt for a second most people here would enjoy a galaxy 100% populated by aliens and you yourself was an alien most "normal" won't.. And how alien are the aliens of SW really .. I mean everyone looks kinda a human anyway!

I Think That Keria Will Die 4 You
but its a powerful tool .. You will feel anger towards the person who killed your mentor .. Its a way to advance and justify your final confrontation! and will draw you into the story in a more personal way .. it has been used alot yes, but simply because it works! if they do it I hope obsidian will do in a beliveable way, otherwise it will feel like a total ripoff of KOTOR1

SW and metaphors
first of all .. Sci-fi will always have similarites, becuase the have to use some of the same story effects.. 1) prophecy .. This I agree with .. There are alot of similarities here in the balance part! but the messiah and "chosen one" angle could however be inspired from most religions .. To a degree christianity! so I think both GL and FH borrowed this part from other sources .. As the Matrix did! 2) tatooine - Arrakis yes they are both desert plantes .. but I think thats more of a coincidence than plagiarism! 6) Spice in SW? never heard of it .. but this of course doesn't mean its not there and if it is, then I agree with you totally .. because thats too similar to be a coincidence! 7) although this immediatly could stand out as a copy of Dune .. I think both writers were inspired from other sources imo.. In old medieval times twins with opposite sex was regarded as freaks of nature and unlucky because they would only happen because of Withcraft! and twins are to this day regarded as something special .. out of the ordinary! so its an effective way to point out, storywise, that these two will play an important role .. you will always have a great figure fall to evil .. its very common to have a hero fall to "the dark side" and in the end be redeemed .. by his son (or the hero of the story) or by some other means .. 9) similar to 8 10) common to use the Voltaire qoute "power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely" .. So I think both writers used this as a powerful moral statement, also to use the redemtion angle.. 11) you will always have an elite group that poses a threat under the control of the main evil.. LOTR the ring-wraiths .. Matrix the Agents etc. 13) You need a reason for a good man to fall to the path of evil .. and nothing is more believalbe than the loss of someone close to him! although this could be inspired from Dune, its also a very used story element .. Those I have not commented on I agree with you about ..

I Dont Like The Darker Theme
also a darker theme is more mature .. As Hades pointed out .. its more real, the world is a dark place! (LS) the point of the story is to make you feel important and give you a sense of hope .. that you can make a diiference! the guide lines of every great story is to prevail through and endless ordeal of hardship! and to come out on the other side stronger .. (DS) you feel you can take advantage of the situation, even though the Sith are bringing the Republic to their knees .. You are strong enough to defeat them all and take over the galaxy! muhahaha I really hope that you can feel the frustration of the Republic and its soldiers .. They must be on the brink of giving up hope .. And everyone should be worried and bitter over the series of events that have lead to the Sith rise in power .. except of course those who can benefit from it! if this is conveyed properly the galaxy will feel very dark indeed!

The Rakata
To a degree .. They didn't have much, only a couple of computers! and if there was any technology left on the planet (which I think is likely) it could only be used through the force.. And the Rakata lost the ability to use the Force along time ago! but the computers might hold blueprints, or what have you, of old ships designs or maybe even of The Starforge .. who knows..

Storyline Theory
the Sith species died out along time ago .. this is also said in KOTOR, the Sith of this day are the followers of the ideals, not the species ..
-
The Rakata
well I agree .. but still they should at least be mentioned, becuase it was a big discovery for the galaxy .. if not for anything else then just for continuity! I mean if we discovered an ancient civilization that once ruled the entire earth before us, it would be a pretty big deal! but 5 years later they might not have discovered much of importance, it is a big planet full of mean Rakatan after all!

Crazy Idea
yeah I know the screen with the dying text is from the Hawk .. But watch the trailer, and when he says "the old republic is crippled bla bla bla" you fly through a Republic ship full of dead bodies .. and its not from the Hawk.. thought that could be the Harbinger perhaps!?
-
SW and metaphors
I don't really see them .. Examples?

Crazy Idea
I was just thinking of the new movie that was released the other day, the one that shows Kreia running off to stall Sion while the PC gets away. I also think I read it somewhere that the Harbinger will be at Peragus so maybe the PC goes back to find out why s/he wound up in the Kalto tank in the first place and this is where the meeting with Sion happens? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think you are rushing to reach the Ebon Hawk at that point .. because the Sith are arriving en masse .. and then Sion appears and Kreia runs off to buy the PC some time .. Maybe sacrificing herself, who knows (until dec 6) But I don't know if the Harbinger is on Peragus at that point .. The trailer has a short view of a republic ship full of corpses! maybe thats from the ship?
-
Crazy Idea
It said in a movie that the PC was aboard the Harbinger (funny name for a ship you were aboard before the game starts ) before Peragus .. but there is a screenshot where Kreia is lying, seemingly, lifeless on the floor and the text says something like "everyone aboard the Ebon Hawk are wounded are dying after the battle" ..

The Facial Changes
not in the OT .. he was pale as a ghost when Luke took the mask off .. of course he was dying and had just been zapped by the full force (lightning) of The Emperor.. It takes time to be twisted into a mockery of your former self! even though this happened almost immediatly in the game ..

I Think That Keria Will Die 4 You
you know this isn't a contest in posting most topics .. and just to be a prick, this has already been discussed to .. well its been discussed alot!
-
The Facial Changes
why thank you .. Although I would prefer to be a philospoher by heart and not profession..
-
The Facial Changes
It was more than such a good movie .. It had alot to do with his infatuation of the Sith, and I used Jules revelation to illustrate the errors of this wicked way ..

Couple Of Comments On The Voices Of Kotor2
the music is actually stored in you temporary internet files folder (or what ever its called) .. as Dark.mp3, Light.mp3

The Facial Changes
i just love the fact that the Sith are so powerful, and they always look and talk cool. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yea they are pretty cool I jsut don't like that Darth Sion guy, I mean I thought I had bad acne but look at his face! :D <{POST_SNAPBACK}> allow me to quote Jules from Pulp Fiction .. to give a respond to that remark .. There's a passage I got memorized. Ezekiel 25:17. "The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you." I been sayin' that **** for years. And if you ever heard it, it meant your ass. I never really questioned what it meant. I thought it was just a cold-blooded thing to say to a mother****er before you popped a cap in his ass. But I saw some **** this mornin' made me think twice. Now I'm thinkin': it could mean you're the evil man. And I'm the righteous man. And Mr. 9mm here, he's the shepherd protecting my righteous ass in the valley of darkness. Or it could be you're the righteous man and I'm the shepherd and it's the world that's evil and selfish. I'd like that. But that **** ain't the truth. The truth is you're the weak. And I'm the tyranny of evil men. But I'm tryin', Ringo. I'm tryin' real hard to be a shepherd.

The Rakata
that Bioware screwed up? how so?
-
It would be extremly cool if
I think he meant in a more true meditation kind of way .. sitting down and reaching deep inside your mind and the force.. Thats what I thought at least .. All I want from an apprentice is his/hers loyalty, no need to bow .. just take that bullet when the time comes ..
-
The Facial Changes
agreed, i mean i didnt want a argument, i just wanted a question answered even tho we were all fighting, we all prob agree that Kotor2 is going to be awesome <{POST_SNAPBACK}> hell .. I'll drink to that! cheers .. hehe

The Rakata
you took down the force field that sealed the temple .. so in an essence, yes ..But I remember something about "The One" was in control of the rest of the planet, which was a series of archipelagos, and they contained alot of old ruins with devices the "black" Rakata couldn't decipher .. they eventually heard of another race of Rakata who held the knowledge which enabled their race to use this technology .. not knowing they no longer had the ability to control the Force, he set off to conquer this last island and acquire the lost knowledge for his own purposes .. This made me think that the Sith would be VERY interested in the place, and the Jedis would be VERY interested in keeping it protected ..

SW and metaphors
oh yeah that movie by Lynch where Herbert "helped" by playing a creative consultant, but ended up killing the enitre movie with his stubbornes .. dreadful, couldn't bear watch it all the way through .. saw the mini series, and they were alright imo, but the books really rock! perhaps there is a parallel between the rise of Paul/Muad'Dib and his "fall" were he becomes distant and to a degree evil by the power he wields and to the rise and fall of Vader, Paul son eventually surpassed him as well.. hmm maybe thats a bit of a reach ..
