well .. they still exist, and if they are intented or not doesn't really matter! because this thread was about was inspired the different cultures, races, themes etc of SW .. Maybe GL thought it was cool, but this doesn't neglect the fact that the parallels does exist! it was not at effort to praise Georges creative genius .. but to give an understanding of the Universe through the inspirations of the existing myths it draws its meaning from (and the sources) .. when he created the Jedi on the samurai, one will also better understand the Samurai if you are inspired to read about them through SW .. And this was actually the meaning of this thread .. to inspire people to search, think and draw parallels to develop their understanding of Earth mythology! through a universe which already held their interest ..

the point is .. why would we revisit the places?? the first being the cave on Korriban now we can perhaps crawl out on the surface, in the old game it just said that and endless field of rocks or something .. and why would we revisit Naga Sadows tomb unless there is something important there? if it is the tomb .. And I guess he wants to hear your thoughts on why we would revisit them ..

it depends on what you want I guess .. Demolition and Security will get you access to hidden areas or shortcuts and what have you .. Intelligence, charisma, wisdom, awarness and persuade will help in dialouge options and unlock information .. perhaps this is most story related? its quite logical what each skill and attribute will help with .. But it depends if you want to talk your way through or blow your way through! both is story related I guess..

now that would be stomach turning evil actually .. but more true DS .. although I think few people would be comfortable playing that kind of twisted sick! and I fear those who will .. not to mention that it would be banned in most countries! -

the game mechanics doesn't allow you to slice open broken/melted doors .. even though there is no need from a logical point of view .. But you are a fan of diverse gameplay! I thought you would be happy to see the need for Jedis diminished? -

because we are connected to Europe through Jutland .. I don't know, I would say from a geographical point of view we belong in the equation just as well! since Sj -

Obviously you are much wiser than I am in this matter and it's better that I will not argue with you anymore. :"> Peace and love! :D sorry didn't mean to flame.. I actually became mad! strange.. must be very proud of my scandinavian ancestry.. but no offence taken! In all honesty Denmark is easy to overlook .. -
yeah, but all great stories follows this form actually .. the simple form is "from childhood through errors and mistakes to adulthood"

What do you mean by "you guys"? Yes, we were once a "part of Sweden" But no, we haven't been even close to extinguishing. Nope. Sweden and Norway are Scandinavian countries because the Scandinavian mountains (=Skandit in Finnish) are between Norway and Sweden. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Scandinavia is the cultural and historic region of the Scandinavian Peninsula. The Scandinavian countries are Norway, Sweden and Denmark, which mutually recognize each other as parts of Scandinavia. The collective label "Scandinavia" reflects the cultural similarity between these countries despite their political independence. The terms Fennoscandia and Fenno-Scandinavia are sometimes used for an extended region. The usage and meaning of the term outside Scandinavia is somewhat ambiguous: Finland and Iceland are many times counted as parts of Scandinavia. In a German mindset, Norway, Sweden and Finland are usually included, but Denmark is not. In a British mindset, Norway, Sweden, and Denmark are usually included, often with the addition of Iceland and Finland. These alternative meanings are considered incorrect in the local languages, and occasionally some people may take offense by such usage in English. The term the Nordic countries is used unambiguously for the Scandinavian kingdoms of Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and the republics of Finland and Iceland. The terms Fennoscandia and Fenno-Scandinavia may either be used to include the Scandinavian peninsula, the Kola peninsula, Karelia and Finland under the same term alluding to the Fennoscandian Shield, or they may be used in a more cultural sense, more or less as a synonyme for the Nordic countries, to signify the historically close contact between Finnic, Sami and Scandinavian peoples and cultures. Outside of Europe, the Netherlands are sometimes mistakenly considered Scandinavian as well. The reason for this seems to be confusion with Denmark; both are small Teutonic countries bordering the North Sea, and the adjectives Dutch and Danish are a bit alike. from Wikipedia read this page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scandinavia I really guarantee that Denmark is part of scandinavia .. You must be thinking of something else! because all of the 6 million people in our country consider themselves scandinavian!! and don't tell me you know better than the entire population of Denmark .. + everyone in Norway and Sweden count Denmark as part of the group as well.. -

Thats more or less what I'm trying to say. What people are asking for here (temptation) isn't exactly easy to pull off in a non-petty way for every little quest. Lets face it, those little quest add up. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> okay let me rephrase then .. I wan't better temptations that will lead me to the dark side things that anger him etc .. one point at the time! until I can justify (from a Roleplaying perspective) why my character would finally sucumb to the Dark Side .. -

Actually only Sweden and Norway are to be considered Scandinavian countries. (Sorry for being a smart-ass ) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> eh .. no .. Denmark is ceartinly part of scandinavia.. sorry for being a smart-ass! its not my fault your not part of our fellowship! :D -
well its still copying .. and you won't find anything!! today thats' human made which isn't inspired by something.. everything has been done before!maybe "this" concept or idea is new, but it will always have parallels to something the inventor saw earlier .. it will borrow aspects from his universe of references.. Humans cannot invent new things, but the can expand on and develop old ideas .. which isn't such a bad thing! then you might think "well what about the first idea, by the first human?" I would say s/he copied nature and what s/he saw around him/her .. improved and reinvented..

nah ..we Danes don't like to run things .. but we do like to criticize those in power! because we know we could do a better job, we just don't want to! but if you want to invade the world your welcome, I would much rather invite a Swedish superpower than any one of those that exist today .. -

Think about it/ If you give the DS player a "quick and easy path" and make the LS player wade through **** and enemies what effect would that have on game balance? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> true .. but for a roleplayer you would like to make an descent to DS, where you "think" you are making a good decision and it end up being very bad .. Even though you can see right through it it will still be an enjoyable experiance .. -
kind of pulling a "H.C andersen Ugly duckling" .. yeah if GL was a farm boy? don't know anything about him actually .. And the good vs evil isn't particularly biblical, stories from before christianity deals with the same issues .. also the metaphor of a simple farm boy that rises up to defeat the evil that plauges the land..

I can guarantee you that Swedish people living outside of Sweden are very patriotic about their roots and culture .. that's how it always is! edit: Not only for your country of course .. this applies to everyone! -
hmm do you know which? I always wondered if GL took inspiration from other Sci Fi series or just read ancient literature .. and then added some furturistic settings in! although it is a long long time ago .. and in another galaxy! good way to avoid plagiarism, "nope this happened even before ancient egypt, so they are ripping me off!!"

this has been a common fear .. I too felt that the DS options were lame and you were a pawn through the game going DS or LS .. I accept that I must follow the will of the Counsil, but as a Sith Lord I shouldn't follow the orders of a little brat .. So I definitly hope that there will be more temptations and easier ways in TSL that will lead you to the DS .. A jedis life is full of choices that, without choosing wisely, can easily lead to the Dark side .. and this should be reflected in the game! -
Right, the idea is not so much action through inaction, but that passivity is the greatest action, if that makes sense <{POST_SNAPBACK}> yeah I just spend a few moments reading up on it .. couldn't remember it fully! like: "Lao Zi believed that violence should be avoided when possible, and that military victory was an occasion to mourn the necessity of using force against another living thing, rather than an occasion for triumphant celebrations. Lao Zi also indicated that codified laws and rules result in society becoming more difficult to manage." (from Wikipidea) made me think of : Yoda: Victory? Victory you say? master Obi wan .. not victory, the shroud of the Dark Side has fallen, begun this clone war has ..

sorry .. didn't mean to confuse you! (without trying to sound like a show-off) I think this is an interesting discussion, I just wish people would come with more ideas .. I love when you find a deep (or shallow) meaning in literature! or a referance to something, IMO it gives a deeper understanding of the univers ..
-
aahh this is where you get your name from .. I just remembered Lao Tzu is sometime refered to as Laozi! but his "action through inaction" doesn't really apply to SW imo .. or what do you mean exactly? edit: Just read up on it .. see what you mean! one should follow the will of nature, and not work against it .. such as a Jedi follows the will of the force!
-
to a degree yes .. do you refer to the Ying-Yang principle because there is alot in Taoism that I can't see fitting very well into SW and Jedis .. but if you meant the nature of The Force then yes! but most old religion have similar "a force of life" that guides every action and connects every living thing .. Even God in christianity borrows this principle .. what the nature of this energy/force/being is differs from love to hate to almost anything .. but the principle is the same..
