  1. well the PC can always support higher resolutions .. so in reality we get better graphics! but that's not worth 2 months of wait .. Well at least I hope you Xboxers enjoy .. and don't be sending me any spoliers!
  2. Well any one under the right circumstances could've blown Exar out of the sky as well .. And that's a theme many of the classics play uopn as well! that's true .. The Iliad where Paris kills Achilles for example as well! and that's a good theme to play upon .. or even Ulic, even though he was no longer a threat or even much of a Jedi, being shot through the heart by Hoggon! But then again it would've been a little to close to the Ulic story if Exar was killed by a normal human (or alien) .. I just wished they would've let him go out with some glory in the final battle, but then again, the man was afraid to die, and that's what his story is very much about!
  3. I guess it's what you bring to the story that matters .. But I was also really disappointed about Exar's death, or lack off, and definitelty disappointed about the whole 4000 years later on Yavin thing .. Like Laozi, I felt that the fact that he could wield such force mastery was a kind of mockery to the universe, that the author felt he needed to resort to that instead of good storytelling was a sad thing indeed! and I know I said it quite a few times now, but I liked his fall for the opposite reason, that he didn't have much of a choice! or in the "Matrix Retrospect", he did but had already made it because of his fear of death! plus it seems that in SW there is a little thing called destiny, and the force, no matter who you are, will guide you towards it! but in the end the choice is yours, and I think he took the choice of the easy way.. But I don't know why you bring up the Han thing Laozi? most normal people wouldn't really stand much of a chance against any Jedi, only if luck, or The Force, is really on their side ..
  4. funny I was thinking the same thing .. why buy something for 20 $ .. If you want it that badly, print the Walkthrough and put some pictures on it! that'll save you some bucks right there ..
  5. the real question is .. how can you not call a bunch of pixels sexy? I mean that's seriously wacked!!
  6. but then the movies are meant for everyone .. and although people like the notion of powerful figures, I don't think they really want too powerful figures! Vader was cool because he didn't need to show how powerful he was! you just knew it .. you could feel the power almost glowing out of him.. same thing goes with Yoda, but in a different kinda way .. edit: and girls watch SW nowadays, and my impression is they don't really enjoy the extreme Sci-Fi fantasy! but yes, if GL ever made a movie from the Old Republic era he would have to show how powerful the people from that time was .. I may not condone it, but they are established characters so I will live with it! (besides it would kinda rock to see Exar blow up a star on the big screen hehe)
  7. Took your time with that post, eh Rosb? I mean at 2 & a half hours that's got to be some kind of record. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> watching something .. sorry won't happen again!
  8. I agree with 213374U there .. It's a shame that they feel the need to make every new character that thet develop even more insane or even more powerful than the last .. It's a sad trend that they have borrowed from Hollywood! and thats why I'm against, although very much too late, the raised level cap for TSL .. Those characters I like from EU aren't the biggest baddest etc etc .. Is those with the most background, and deepest stories! and you have to remember that its always easier to make a literary character more powerful than one from a movie! the imagination can do alot more than visual effects, especially those from the 70'es!
  9. as I have stated a few times now .. I felt Exars fall was a excellent one as well! and mostly because I felt sorry for him all the way through it! but I really didn't like that he became sooo powerful, it seemed a little excessive to me! I wouldn't mind him being the strongest force wielder of his time, but able to implode stars and freeze an entire court, even though that was some special Sith magic IIRC .. it seemed, like Laozi also stated, that the writer wanted to focus more on his abilities after the fall instead of his character! and to me that was a shame! Overall I liked Ulics story the most .. He seems to me as one of the most developed characters of that time! it played on some very useful themes, that you can be redeemed, but the universe will never forget your actions .. And I really hope KOTOR2 will use this angle, without ripping it off of course, on Revan! although he did save the galaxy (LS) he will still have to come to terms with his own past, and the fact that everyone will look on him with suspicion! because it was really a shame that you wasn't confronted with his actions before KOTOR .. I didn't really feel bad for what he did and my motivation was therefore not redemtion..
  10. Come now. You couldn't even manipulate the mind of that worthless soldier at the door of the academy and you expect to be able to use a mind trick on someone strong in the Force? Obi-Wan says: 'the Force influences greatly the weak-minded' or whatever. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No it was probably more in the same area as how Nomi cut Ulic from the force .. though not that severe ..
  11. k .. Well Nur, to get you into the discussion, because I would like to hear your opinion about it .. Do you think Exar's fall was written in a convincing way? and what was the cause? and how about the element of blocking a side of the force, many think that its not about two sides, but how you use it! edit: damn I sound like a reporter there .. hehe
  12. thanks .. you have to explain the "psionic suggestion" part .. did you mean that Nadd blocked his LS ability through suggestion, meaning that Exar wanted subconciously to be DS? .. or am I putting words in your mouth?
  13. Again, if the story had been a little better crafted, I might agree with you. I think the Force is neither dark or light, it depends on how it's used. But at any rate, his ability to use the light side was not diminished, it was utterly blocked, see for yourself: <{POST_SNAPBACK}> yeah I meant the Light side was blocked (bad choice of words) but his ability to use the force wasn't .. although only DS was accessible.. So even though he couldn't use the LS if he had died he should've become one with the force, since his connection wasn't totally severed!
  14. but every Jedi learns to respect and fear the dark side .. perhaps he didn't know he would become a Sith Lord, but still he knew what a Jedi was capable of doing once going DS .. but he refused it, becuase of fear and arrogance that this could happen to him! I think thats a good reason for a fall .. well I don't think he feared turning into oblivion, his ability to use the Light side of force was diminished, but the presence of it would still be in him, otherwise he couldn''t have used the DS .. imo he simply feared death! with or without the force .. since I know alot who feel the same way as you do, I will agree that the writer could've done a better and more convincing job! but for me, Exars fall was fine .. guess I'm not that demanding!?
  15. Okay then we don't agree .. well on the Light Side issue we do .. But I think the Dark side is not just giving in to emotions like anger, but also giving in to your fear! if you can't sacrifice yourself for the greater good, which Exar wasn't capable of, that'll take you closer to the dark side! I think he must've known on some level that this was a bad idea .. hence the "I'm sorry Master" remark he made! for me Exars downfall was a believable one, because he acted human every step of the way down .. he was a victim of his fear, and of his arrogance that he could control this fear.. of course this makes him seem weak, and I think he was ..
  16. That's like saying that Hitler should have let himself be killed in WW1 because that would have prevented WW2. In retrospect, it's true. In retrospect too, if Obi-Wan had let Maul cut him down, Anakin would have never been trained, and therefore, the Jedi would have not been wiped out. There was no way for Exar to know what awaited him. At that point, and as far as he could think, his death was meaningless. It's no wonder Exar was afraid, the only thing that stood between him and certain death was the dark side. Jedi don't succumb to fear because they have the Force to reassure themselves. How do you think Obi-Wan would react if facing Vader he suddenly found he was cut off from the light side? He let himself be killed because he knew he would become 'more powerful than you can imagine'. Exar didn't choose to embrace the evil or give in to his passions. He just chose to live, because there would be no gain from his death. That's what anyone would have done in those circumstances. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well for Exar there was no way to know true.. but we were speaking in the grand picture.. but anyway maybe I wasn't clear because we totally agree .. I didn't say Exar choose to embrace the dark side, but did so out of fear! but I think that was a good way to let him fall to the dark side, because you felt sorry for him, and when he slowly turned more and more inhumane and you watched the last shred of humanity vanish from him, you still felt sorry (Well I did) .. because you remember he turned out this way because of fear! That made him seem very human to me!
  17. yeah but it was too bad GL didn't really make The Empire look as big and bad as the were .. They alliance seemed quite capable of winning at every turn imo! I would have liked it to be a little more "OH MY GOD!! THEY HAVE A DEATH STAR!!! ARGHH!!!!" :D edit: Although on a side note, I was cool that he decided to have The Empire kick the Rebellions a** in ESB even without their main baddy weapon .. and seem like a capable force agian!
  18. I agree, he could have chosen to die. Sacrifices are not unheard of in the SW universe. But there's a difference between sacrifice and meaningless death. Exar's death would have served no purpose at all, so there was no reason for him to die. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> well in the grand scale his death would have prevented his fall and the death of ALOT of people .. so not entirely meaningless! But I think the idea of making Exar afraid to die (fear leads to the dark side bla bla) was a way to underline his eventual fall! I think that was a good way to "justify" his fall to the dark side .. as he said "im sorry master (can't remember) I want to live" as he pulled his lightsaber to him with the dark side .. although he should not have been so overpowered in the end though, that was the only thing about Exars story I didn't like ..
  19. yeah I guess thats true! guess some of those characters we connect the most with is those who are redemeed! Maybe because we like to believe that if we ever make a mistake we want to be able to redeem ourself and be forgiven! It seems that way to me .. but then its always easier to understand an evil guy turned good, than a good turned pure evil!
  20. yeah I'm sure Revan will play a big part .. But I really think the character was underdeveloped in KOTOR, so I hope Obsidian brings some humanity (or inhumanity if DS ) into him! flesh out the story and give a deeper understanding of the motives and personality of pre-KOTOR-Revan and Post-KOTOR-Revan .. and I would personally think it would be a good story twist to have LS Revan deal with selfdoubt and a personality crisis, because you are bound to be a little confused if you are given a new personality and have to come to terms with your old one was a Sith Lord .. I mean that must be hard to comprehend!
  21. I don't blame Exar for hating cathar Well he does look quite stylish with that fashionable scar he got from one of them! So I think he should be grateful!
  22. I hope there's something like that, if there is one "bad" legacy from the movies is the idea that ulmost every planet has a singular climate <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Most planets in reality that have been discovered have a singular climate. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> How many of those are inhabited? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> 7 I would say! Earth is a little strange in that regard because of our 23,5 degree tilt, most planets have a fairly stable climate (although stable also quite extreme in one way or another.. too hot, too cold etc) just look at the other planets in our solar system!
  23. This message would probably be better served being posted on the Lucas Arts forum. I wonder if anyone over there has noticed the situation. That is if there is a situation to notice ... Anyone here registered over at LA forums? Maybe you can be our proxy and bring our concerns to light over there? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> no one would ever admit being a member of the Lucasart forums!
  24. hmm this made me think .. (LS) If Revan joined the battle against the new Sith, s/he must have been constantly afraid of falling to the dark side again, and therefore not be as an effective commander! which would ironically cost more lives! So s/he would probably stop fighting for the Republic and .. well who knows what!? just made me think ..
  25. thanks .. I figured that was what it meant, but I wasn't sure!
