  2. one of them ia actually a little like that .. and I find myself imagining him saying "Ondskaben er p
  3. You are still labeled as some what of a nerd for playing computer .. at least here amongst the people in my generation! and even more for roleplaying .. but roleplaying is very positive influence on those I work with .. it allows them to play different people. Which helps them to develop social skills, as a big part of it involves putting yourself in others place and imagining how they think!
  4. I dont think anyone leads a normal life, they lead a life that is within sociaty standarts ... well most of it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> sometime it gets tiresome to speak in relative terms and I choose a general description .. so living a normal life, in this regard, is a synonym for being able to simply function with other people and in society ..
  5. Why? Whats wrong with a bed? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I guess it's like sex .. variation is a partial key to creativity .. and locations are an easily changeable variable! sleep in different rooms, sleep with different people in different places .. do something strange everyday just for the fun of it!
  6. I only sleep in wierd places ..
  7. I actually want to hear more of you proposing to thirty year olds. It's much more interesting than the original topic... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I must say I'm quite intrigued as well .. how often do you propose to women twice your age Baley??
  8. sure, and I'm not offended or anything .. I did laugh .. but as I said I felt that at some points he crossed a line ..
  9. They sould get used to it in order to funtional normaly. To the point were they dress up as character and go down in public wearing customs? Sorry that's not leading a normal live. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well I'm happy that you are able to lead a normal life.. but some people actually have serious problems with fitting in .. and like Nartwak pointed out I used the word "bridge" ..
  10. I'm sure if you wrote it in Danish I wouldn't have a problem .. :"> But I think it's always necessary to strip away the illusions of reality in order to get to yourself or what you are searching for .. or at least examen the illusion as they are often a representation of something deeper .. the Wiki page Buddhism I'm almost sure you've probably read this already .. but some of the links in the bottom may be useful.. and a good, exstensive, site which will explain the matter much better than I will ever be able to .. The Zen Site
  11. It's because I work with people who have been traumatized mentally (and can't function socially) .. so you get a little touchy around these kind of things, since it's my job to help them adapt again .. and I know how much small remarks hurt people with a low selfesteem .. and while it may seem very unhealthy for a normal person to be obsessed with SW or computers etc .. it can be a bridge for some people to reach a normal life .. and if they are attacked during that process it will only hurt their progress in the long run ..
  12. While I was out running today I thought of a commonality between Eastern Mysticism and Classical Skepticism (and indeed scientific method): The practitioner is always trying to strip away the distractions of the illusory world we think of as real life, trying to get back to who we are through meditation, back and back and back until we are one with the universe. (Or at lesat that's how I understand it.) So to, when considering the events of life, a skeptic or a scientist must strip away the detail, deconstruc the minutiae and re-construct a trend or some sort of shorthand (equation) to summarise what is really going on. (Leaving aside for the moment that Eastern Mysticism is not interested in deconstruction and Western Philosophy is.) In order to do this, I must go back and strip away the distractions of life and endeavour to find -- perhaps not a single union with the universe, as in the East -- but a vector (direction and force of the flow of events). So in effect there is a lot of commonality with the two thought methodologies, just with Oriental thought one is subsumed in the result and with the Occident one is left watching the universe go by and checking its heading and speed. Am I making this clear? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm not sure exactly what you are saying.. but although I may seem like I know Buddhism, that's really not the case .. So I can't say what the goal of their philosophy is .. I've just read a little about it and adapted it to my own world view .. but my understanding of it is that you do not strive to be one with the universe, but one with yourself .. the problem is that you can never "see" yourself, and if you look inwards you will only see a mirror reflecting the immediate self .. so you have to transcend the you of now, to reach the inner self .. but mainly it seems to be about enlightment, to simply understand yourself and thus your surroundings .. but you are like a river which is forever changing even though in whole you seem to be the same .. so it's, suffice to say, a little difficult .. ^_^
  13. I think he's brilliant, Im gonna be just like him when I grow up :D In fact Ive often fantazised about having a talkshow where I invite celebrities and insult them deeply and bitterly on a personal level. Like: But seriously, he's only saying out loud what most of us is already thinking. And a lot of the people he's attacking deserve what they're getting(the celebrities atleast) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Sure I think they are nerds .. and I find it equally tragic to stand in line for a week to see a movie, but their actions don't affect me, they don't insult me and basically nerds are pretty harmless people .. I can easily take a joke on my expense, because I'm able to answer for myself, but I hate when people attack those who can't .. and go berate the local badasses in a bar and you'll see a different outcome .. and I find them more tragic (the violent drunk people) so why not make fun of them? because they'll beat the living crap out of you.. and what have celebrities done? now you are being a typical scandinavian but they are a easy target, and most of them are intelligent people who can take a joke and snap back in a responsible way.. so I really don't have a problem with talkshow hosts taking a shot at their guests ..
  14. I think it's the spikes that makes a morning star what it is.. since they resemble a small sun/star ..
  15. I just digged up my old Jeff Buckley - Grace ... damn that guy was talented!! "Lover, You Should've Come Over" is one of the best songs I've ever heard ..
  16. Never seen it .. but I doubt it's as interesting, since it reveals the point in the beginning then .. and it's not that hard to keep track of the film in the first place! Yeah, they probably will .. but I do know some hardcore SW fans who have refused to watch both Episode II and probably III as well ..
  17. it's funny .. but sometimes he crosses a line imo .. you can clearly see that some of these people aren't particularly adept at standing up for themselves .. and I'm not a big of a fan of punching people in soft spots when they can't defend themselves..
  18. so in theory it's possible to sleep for about 4 hours and then expose yourself to a multi-spectrum light to avoid sleeping alot during a certain period?
  19. better reveal my age before it's too late .. 20, for another month or so ..
  20. You know I had the exact same opinion when I was twelve .. I know .. nothing more fun than to rub in the obvious from time to time! "
  21. but then again .. we will never truely know!
  22. It is a very sad thing that nowadays there is so little useless information. - Oscar Wilde HA! proved you wrong!! :D
  23. if it's just that there is a rather cool mod which allows you to buy better engines, tractor beams and power generators .. so you can fly much faster with bigger ships ..
  24. Just for the record .. I'm not taking a relativist stand! because that actually requires self-evident thruths .. I'm saying you can't compare, unless you believe in a common reality and thus ceartinties to which you can compare things .. that the only thing I can be certain of, is my interpretation of reality and it's not certain if you compare it to the common reality (but to me it's real). my argument this entire time has been, in order for you to rely on anything outside of your head you need a leap of faith .. since you don't know and you can't see, hear, feel etc anything but your own reality .. sorry for dragging that into the light .. but I just wanted to clear that up ..
