  1. There you go..
  2. makes you wonder, where is all the money going? Origins cost how much? I refuse to believe it all went in voiceovers and marketing. Obviously it's just a front for the Illuminati But my guess would be that the vast hordes of programmers, artists, Q&A testers, marketing and senior staffs all need paychecks.. and that the company uses the excess to further develop their other titles (and keep their shareholders happy).
  3. It is very impressive Mkreku, especially considering your... condition... To be serious, I'm a little confused about this though - I understand why Sweden is there, because you guys actually do have some strong brands.. but what brands do Norway, Denmark, Canada, Australia and Austria have that are so world famous? I can't think of any to be honest.
  4. Wait what? you get killed by porcupines? .. wow that's not a very smart move from the developers, I would be really depressed if a few birds and a porcupine came out from under leaves and smothered my character to death .
  5. so very true.. This is (imho) a very interesting fact that is often overlooked - while it helps against piracy just being a niche developer, as people feel you would suffer more from the loss, than being a big developer - I think it mostly has to do with respect from producer to consumer. If the consumer doesn't feel like s/he is being respected (but still feels an entitlement to the project (which is a discussion worthy of it's own thread)) then he will more likely resort to less than admirable measures in order to acquire the product. This can be combated by either enforcing DRM, which is the easiest solution, attacking the feeling of entitlement or by showing respect and trying to make the consumer feel like an integrated part of the product. I think the last is the most risky, but also most profitable.
  6. Or this site (onlinekeystore) - where Civ5 is 42.47$ and Fallout NV is 41.10$ (courtesy of Kaftan who linked to it previously in another thread) - and these are keys for Steam, should one prefer that.
  7. You know, driving a bike is the most simple thing in the world.. once you've learned how.. I think it's rather harsh to call people retarted just because they don't know something, which you incidentally find very easy. We are not born with the instant-knowledge of computer operation and believe it or not, many gamers are actually not very advanced users. For them, anything beyond an install wizard and a very thorough install guide can be quite daunting. Imagine you never took the time to familiarize yourself with a computer beyond watching movies, playing games and now you have to suddenly install a fake DVD drive, mount and iso, apply a crack etc etc.. I'm not generalizing out of some prejudice, I base this on actually seeing friends handle computers and programs - most of them really don't know some (imho) very basic things.
  8. I wasn't referring specifically to the file extension but rather to whole concept behind it - it seems a lot of people (luckily?) have absolutely no idea how torrents work, even though they are easy to use.
  9. I discus piracy with a lot of my gamer friends and I agree with Calax, it's actually only a few of them that knows how to use torrents - most would know how to download music and small programs - but when it comes to cracking games and installing workarounds only a few have a clue what to do.. Only a handful of my friends even know how to properly install mods, I have to help a lot of them with simple things like editing text files etc. So piracy for them is definitely out of the picture.
  10. But it killed the idea of colonies, which was a shame..
  11. Done - although I see no reason to delete your posts, I doubt anyone will be confused.
  12. They didn't say that.. They did say that you are still a parent (very true) and that parents never seize to worry. or stop having useful advice..
  13. I have to agree with you on this - it not really fair to call him a bad parent (as we don't know the girl, the boy, the father or the boys family). And it's certainly not fair calling you a bad father for going above and beyond for your child. I'm pretty sure most of us here would do almost anything to protect someone we love - even so far as being overprotective. While that's not normally not a very good thing, it's not automatically a failure. The argument however is still that professionally you have to leave aspects of your personal reasoning (or lack of) behind you. A police officer can't beat up a paedophile just because he's disgusted by him/her, a teacher can't give a punk bad grades just because he disagrees with her lifestyle. As we put on the mantle of authority we have to be a little larger than ourselves, it comes with the territory. That being said, it's understandable when things like this happen - but we still need to set an example so that people in power realize the seriousness of misusing it - otherwise we open a can of worms that we really don't want to!
  14. You are a sadistic person. And you are hereby on my "do not listen to movie-advice" list. Seriously, Max Payne was a horrible horrible film! Play the game instead.
  15. It really doesn't matter who started it, the important thing is that it ends.. Let's drop the "he/you started it" argument and focus on the actual discussion (and let's be civil with whoever disagrees with us)
  16. All right, time to cool off a bit.. No name calling or I'll have to use a little authority as well (I'll be gentle though ) Kudos for sticking to your believes though Hurlie, it's not easy when everyone disagrees with you.
  17. I think this says it all..
  18. Seems a good balance between aerodynamic in atmospheres and round (being a quite solid shape). Plus perhaps gravity is nearly impossible to create so you need centrifuge - and therefore a spinning ship. Why would Aliens fly down and mess with ICBMs though? seems like a rather wasteful way to spend your time..
  19. "What right does he have to use his uniform, his gun, his handcuffs if all he is is a dad?'' - very true.. Hi didn't come there as a police officer, he came as an angry father. A reprimand is without a doubt getting off easy, I seriously would consider firing him. If the boy should suffer any consequences, so should the daughter - how come he is more guilty just by virtue of being male?
  20. What? Totally lost me there. Batman is rich, Tony Stark is rich - Virumor believes that Iron Man is the better choice for the nonsuperpower superhero.
  21. I didn't know you had a twin brother Aram..
  22. Looks great..
  23. Dangerous law - combat piracy with good products and fair prices, like you do in any other industry. They are only empowering the idea that piracy is the "little man's" personal adventure against the mighty corporations. If you kill piracy on the net you'll just bring back the old model of buying burned cds from a local dealer. Kill the motivation to cheat by creating loyal consumers instead.
  24. hehe, I think not - but that would be very funny.
  25. Yeah both SD and the Danish Peoples Party are the neo-nationalsocialists of the 21th century - they've learned from the mistakes of their predecessors, but that only makes them that much more dangerous. Sure they sound harmless (and they are at first) but given enough power they will definitely make life miserable for any immigrants and non-whites. Within European borders at first, but most likely they would try to **** up any Islamic nation if they ever had the chance. The latest from Sweden seem to indicate that one of their partymembers carved a Nazi-sign into his own forehead in order to incite political anger.. tell me that isn't a bit extreme..
