  1. Yeah this doesn't really serve much of a purpose..
  2. Putin apparently finds it ironic that the West talks of democracy and criticizes Russia, while going ballistic themselves over Assange.. I kinda agree.. It seems a little stupid to criticize China and Russia for arresting people who speak out against coverups, when we do it ourselves (also hilarious proverb in the article).
  3. I use it with steam - so that's not true.. install the mod, then right click MTW2:K (in steam), select properties, then select "set launch options" and add this @mods\kingdoms_grand_campaign_mod\medieval2.kingdoms_grand_campaign_mod.cfg this forces steam to launch via the mods batch file, which makes it work. This works with every mod for MTW2:K - just find the batch file in the mod folder and edit it.. then copy the "adress" like this:
  4. Still, hundred of thousands die every year in car accidents - while only maybe a thousand die, on average pr year, flying.
  5. Wait what? you need a cd to install the mod? This mod?
  6. I highly recommend checking out "Kingdom Grand Campaign Mod" it's made by one of the developers (I believe) and it adds all the countries and units from the expanions into the main campaign (on a bigger map) - so Wales, Ireland, the crusader states and The Teutonic Order etc etc all appear in the regular campaign.. it's like playing all the expansions at once.
  7. These are seriously some of the funniest typos/autocorrections I've seen.. link (try seeing some of the other pages too)
  8. Let's just agree on the fact that hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobes are the worst.
  9. That only works for mild cases .. and then only if you are drugged (or in an otherwise very safe environment) and over a long period of time until your mind realizes the idiocy of the fear. Hypnosis however can remove the severe panic in 2-3 sessions, but only if you are susceptible. The people on TV were probably under a mild NLP hypnosis (something they are not necessarily aware of), allowing them to avoiding running out of the studio in panic. It's classic conditioning, but first the mind needs to be panic free in order for the new reality to set in, otherwise you simply revert, which can still happen. Imagine an uncontrollable fear, that completely dominates your mind and fires every escape mechanism in your body, until you are away from the source of the fear and then imagine sitting next to this object and playing with it.
  10. If it is a phobia then none of your suggestions will work and only result in further misery - I know cause I have arachnophobia and was given similar advice which certainly did not help.. Phobias are not rational and cannot be beaten with rationality. Monte, if you have aerophobia, you only really have 2 options - either going under hypnosis to cure it or dope yourself like Krezack said to subdue it..
  11. Well the vault dweller kinda made sense - as s/he was not an "above grounder". Can you join the BoS in NV? I though you were just barely accepted (or praised if you really proved your worth), but never initiated, which made sense to me..
  12. Wow, love the "add to cart" option .. They have some cheap computers for sale though.
  13. Ah all right, then I didn't convey my message clearly enough.
  14. Hmm I guess I didn't make my point come across very clear, if it sounded like I didn't understand addiction.. I was merely trying to discuss the value of the social angle and whether or not one could say it outweighed the addiction (for those who felt compelled to play and not just the average gamer).. For instance, I read an interesting article highlighting a development with severely handicapped people, who would play Second Life or other sims - and these games actually drastically improved the life quality of a few of them, but on the other hand they were getting so invested in the virtual world that they started loosing touch with "reality" and their real world handicap - choosing to invest more of their emotions in the virtual arena.
  15. Having to point that out really isn't good for such an argument... Also, firmly holding to ones convictions once they've been formed, isn't exactly the definition of open-mindedness.. but whatever..
  16. One could also focus on how certain groups might be addicted, but games in fact offer them a valuable social angle that they have a difficult time attaining out in the real world - and how that might be a problem or a plus (however you look at it)
  17. Haha, I was wondering why you suddenly had the entire SW collection .. I bought 6x Alien Versus Predator for 30€ and gave it to 5 friends - the SP game is stupid but multiplayer is awesome.
  18. Perfect example of how some people are so afraid of insulting other that they actually end up insulting everyone.. If I lived (for instance) in a predominantly Muslim society I would be pretty upset if the local politicians cancelled Ramadan out of fear of how it would affect my minority.
  19. Sorry to hear Archie - good thing that he is remembered and loved.
  20. Yeah definitely - there are also some 1984, A brave new world and various other famous dystopian books/novels references.. I think it's because the Fallout setting is basically a big canvas for social commentary, which means that some of the more universal points will be shared. But I agree - minus the central and very important religious theme of "The Stand".
  21. A restoration project was finished.. to quote myself:
  22. All right - I think this thread has served it's purpose.
  23. John Stewart exposes Glenn Beck.. This is gold. (part 1 in case it's a little too in medias res)
  24. Actually is was a semi-good joke..
  25. Why were you startled?
