  1. Dead Space 2
  2. Well congratulations.
  3. I'm thinking about it..
  4. Ah yes, back when games were simple, fun and intelligent - not like today, oh no!! *waves walking stick" youngsters today! hmpf!
  5. Probably for the British crowd.
  6. This rather presumes the Judaeo Christian notion that paradise is no work. Hence the ejection from Eden to a world of toil. But I like working. I happen to think it's essential to mental and physical health! They don't advocate that you shouldn't work - society still needs to keep running, which requires participation, but the goal is rather to advance humanity as a whole as well as you, instead of a boss and a pay check.
  7. Yes, this was very disappointing - there are mods however, I just wish that they could've been as numerous as for Fallout. I couldn't imagine playing FO:NV without 20+ mods. Imagine that Bio had released the tools for the modders for ME and DA:O - yum! it would've been a feast..
  8. I was told by a very sweet and beautiful girl recently, that I was the one who got away.. What do you say to that? "Sorry? had I known back then, I would've jumped you in 0,3 seconds!".. I've had a lot of missed opportunities and a lot of chances that I shouldn't have taken but all in all I've never truly regretted anything.. I've always treated it as a cherished memory or a good story.
  9. I personally find the Venus Project a little more interesting in that regard - an emphasis on technology also means that people will have more free time and therefore more games.. what's not to like?
  10. Now.. I'll be starting with the warnings, if this degenerates into personal insults and hijacking again.
  11. The first segment was about religion and most would probably agree, since what they guy is saying is that Jesus is a mythical figure and that all religions can trace their origins back to sun worship. This isn't a conspiracy (at least not in my book), saying that the government blew up the twin towers however, most certainly is. So there are elements and I don't like those - but I don't want to shoot down everything because of some stupidity/frustration/etc. The 3rd segment was about money however and this is where it gets interesting for me at least - even if you think they are being wackos, when they say that the monetary system has to go, you gotta agree that the idea of infinite growth, which seems to be the idea of the day and age, is not only irresponsible, but also dangerous? Sure, we can work it out while keeping money around, but this concept of never-ending consumption.. that's gotta go! That was the message I took away from seeing it.. that and the society based on science, but ending this ever increasing consumption is probably more feasible in the short term. Smart man..
  12. The problem with communism is that it is fundamentally still a political system and that it requires the workers to unite and overthrow the capitalists and that the transition period requires a government and single political party to help it along which always ends in tyranny... this movement however advocates science as the prime motivator rather than class struggle. So calling it a modified technocracy would be more appropriate (but still inaccurate), the overall idea is to let decision making be a scientific approach, where you arrive at the solution through empirical study rather than state/gut or experience. While it's true that resources would be shared, much like the ideal is in communism - decision making is not done by the classless people coming together, it is done by science and science alone. Which is not the case in communism, that rather tries to be a "true" democracy.
  13. In regards to the American audiance, sure.. but it seems, at least in the circles that I frequent, that the prevailing opinion is pretty much that the administration of the time allowed, if not outright approved, the attack.. I think it's a pretty cynical disposition and therefore try to avoid the topic now.
  14. Basically. Unless they've totally overhauled the 'documentary' then, yes, it's a few facts, often exaggerated, that were mixed with a lot of fiction, conjecture, and editing - something that resulted in nothing more and nothing less than a perfect example of how conspiracy theories become popular and 'respectable.' Yeah, but only the first doc, but it's only the points about 9/11 - which they are convinced that the government allowed to happen. Luckily they've moved away from that all together and all the later documentaries are not about religion or conspiracy, but about money, our current system and how it just doesn't work properly. I really like however that they at least present an alternative, instead of just complain.
  15. I guess so - saying that this is Marxism is a clear indication that you haven't understood the idea.
  16. Are we greedy by nature? I know that I do not crave my brothers wealth or even desire to take it from him.. even if it had no repercussions.. society today is indeed build on the foundation of accelerating consumption, but I wonder if our "nature" is not simply a predisposition to conditioning - and our current greed is therefore simply a by-product of our current culture. If you were cold enough, then yes - but as it stands there are resources enough, if we utilize the resources strategically, intelligently and responsibly.. Our current method of consumption is without a doubt unsustainable, but I think proper management and utility of technology could make resources stretch far beyond how they are used today.. look at the landfills and think if we simply started the whole designing process of products with the overall concept being that they have to last for as long as possible, be easily repaired and be re-used in other applications once they fail to achieve what they were initially made for - then resources become renewable and reusable instead of the current system of cheap mass production. In other words - the overall paradigm should be to always maximize efficiency and reduce waste rather than to maximize profit.
  17. They claim that the overall goal is to promote well being - like abolishing poverty, by removing the monetary system.. The argument goes that the main reason for crime, wars etc is due to money and competition over resources, while sharing resources based on equal needs would remove the unequal distribution of resources.. I mean, 1% of the population has 40% of the wealth.. which seems to me that resources are definitely not being distributed equally or fairly. only one aspect (concerning 9/11) but I don't really care for that to be honest.. But I'm more interesting in the Venus project, it's just mainly being promoted through the Zeitgeist.
  18. Has any of you seen these documentaries? They are at now (aka "Moving Forward"). For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about.. The Zeitgeist Movement is the activist arm of the "Venus Project" - a suggestion for a society without money, politics and well basically what we know today - rather a society governed, ruled and applied with science and equality as the prime motivation. It's not communism (even though it could sound like that). I've been watching the movement (a chapter has even opened in Copenhagen as is growing quite rapidly) and the documentaries and I'm very intrigued by the whole idea of a society which is governed by logic and science (saying that consumption should always be in balance with availability and renewability, rather than profit being the prime motivator). It's seems utopian, but at the same time quite feasible. Thoughts?
  19. Well, then try Indian terminator + the matrix.
  20. Alpha Protocol got 6 in quite a few reviews and sure that most people here enjoyed the game.. just saying..
  21. Even if they manage to somehow take care of half the pollution from all the industry - I imagine that the amount of cars, trains, scooters and people alone - will most likely make this city a health disaster. I did see some plans for mega cities, which were surprisingly green though.. with gardens on the roofs, solar power, massive forestation plans both in and around the city.. so who knows, maybe it might be a good thing.
  22. Cool article - wacky comments, who apparently think that the author is worshipping an eco-terrorist death cult with the sole intent of de-populating the earth and that the article is obviously condoning said method of climate control.. some people!
  23. Yeah - well I have a bat.. If it works, then I don't really care to be honest - I just want the good companies to get some sales, so they'll make better games.
  24. Earth seems to be a popular place to invade.. The only way to ram up the action now, would be to have 2 alien races arrive at the same time and battle it out in our skies..
  25. Hmm I didn't realize that Zenimax were so big - Id, Tango, Arkane and Bethesda etc.. they are getting some cool companies under their belt.. I hope it doesn't affect quality.
