Norway Builds the World's Most Humane Prison
Except that Norway doesn't have a large and desperate population of poor people with no alternative.. People are always better off outside of prison, Scandinavian and especially Norwegian culture is a good detergent against crime in itself. People are easily ostracised for criminal conduct in a small community, and that means it can quickly be social suicide for however gets into prison. Get people invested in their surroundings and well being of friends and countrymen and you'll see crime (here meaning theft, robbery, fraud etc) plummet.

Gulf of Mexico oil leak
Thorium is definitely a technology we should look into, but I'm a big advocate of renewable energy. The sun is blasting us with insane amounts of energy each second it's seems like such a waste not to develop methods to truly harness the sun. That and we need to give the world a safe, clean and cheap way of producing energy - so we can get the rest of the world on track.

Why not use your fists?- US Gun control
Generally there's less crime in rural areas compared to cities .. and my guess would be that on top of that you live in an area that is mostly populated by middleclass people with comparable income, right? You see, we have the same tendencies in Europe - the bigger the population and the bigger the economical difference between the higher the crime rate.. guns don't really have anything to do with - desperation however is a pretty big motivator when it comes to crime. People don't do crimes just for fun you know, unless they are psychopaths of course.. This isn't about anyone getting a say where no say is due, it's merely about opinion - just like you have an opinion on European politics.- US Gun control
I have to agree with that.. But I've also, like Walsh, come the conclusion that big (100+ mill) countries are so fundamentally different that they need guns in order to properly scare their government. I don't really care how they deal with their internal security, but I don't want a big fascist or communistic country in either America or Asia - they might take a liking to our little corner of the world.- Roskilde Festival 2010
Prince is confirmed now - so he'll be coming to Roskilde as well.- Alternatives to Al Jazeera
The problem for European viewers is that the whole "objective" angle is pretty unique to our part of the world and we aren't really any good at, even when we try.. so no there's no good alternative, everybody has an agenda. Basically though; the "free'r" the country is and the lesser renown a station -> better coverage.- Fallout: New Vegas
That robot Liberty sounds ridiculously overpowered if the preview simply said "battle alongside a gigantic atomic-bomb-wielding 20m robot!" so would the orbital bomb station that is also in F3.. If you have free access to this thing and it's simply another weapon then I wholeheartedly agree that it's waaay too "SPLOSHUNS".. if it's part of a story sequence then I won't mind - I think the robot and orbital bomber was pretty fun in F3.- Roskilde Festival 2010

Carrot juice mixed with orange juice is good - tomato juice is healthy, but is an acquired taste. Water is always good.- Killian is Dead.
Ha, weak vomit if you ask me.. I was throwing up pure water when I was India .. I had completely emptied myself of every fluid that hadn't been put into me in the last hour. Lost 8 pounds in 1 week because everything was cleaned out. -- Also, good to see your are making a change Killian.. remember not to set unrealistic goals, or it may be too difficult to stay the path.- Friggin family.
You really don't like people who seem sincere do you Volo?- Friggin family.
Yep, you've reached that magic time when you finally realize how pushy your parents are and want to leave.. they've actually been like this always, only now you notice. Pack your things, tell them to stuff it - and head out into the world.. your dad will most likely be happy for you and proud - your mom will start complaining that she never sees you.- Poland torn apart by a single plane crash

It certainly is, I've tried it on my roommates computer for a few hours - great fun. Albiet a bit repetative and MMO-ish.- What are you playing now?
I've been playing Assassins Creed II, I have a big problem with the DRM, but I had to support the game because I really like the story and the effort they've put in to the game - which is a tendency I really want to take a hold in PC gaming.- The Greatest LP/AAR of All Time
The wierdest moment I've had was when China conquered all of Russia and created a huge asian empire, effectively keeping Europe out of Asia.- The Greatest LP/AAR of All Time
