  1. one shouldn't accelerate geological fragments if one resides in an amorphous residence?
  2. I hate it when people resort to the race-card to get attention.. Especially: "Robinne Lee, a black actress who appeared opposite Will Smith in the film Seven Pounds, is also among Avatar's detractors. Likening the film to Pocahontas – "the Indian woman leads the white man into the wilderness, and he learns the way of the people and becomes the saviour" – she said: "It's really upsetting in many ways. It would be nice if we could save ourselves."" Ourselves? she's of Jamaican and Chinese descendant.. how can she possibly speak for native americans? .. idiot..
  3. Not to rain on your parade, but I don't think this movie had any real hopes of concealing the story from you or anyone for that matter.. everything Earth is much greyer and darker looking while Pandora is an absolute explosion of colour - the music tells us exactly what to cheer for and every character is pretty 2 dimensional. Good/Proud vs Bad/Proud I laughed at the Unobtainium too Just saw it yesterday and I was pleasantly surprised! I liked the movie a lot to be honest - a modern day Pocahontas of sorts, but mostly I could sense that Cameron had put a lot of details into this story, from biology and physics to lore and language - even if there are some glitches, which I didn't think of until afterwards - the movie sucked me in for the entire duration and kept me interested and entertained. It was my first 3D movie and it delivered on that sense too, I didn't know what to expect, but I fell in love with the small details - like being able to discern how big a room was or actually seeing the glass and sensing the spacial concept of it..
  4. Cool down Mkreku.. no need to be nasty just because you want to make a point..
  5. Blast!! .. it wasn't a good video anyway.. Edit: HAHA.. saved by a furry cat yet again!
  6. The correlation, btw, does not hold when you get down to the communal level in Sweden. You would expect to see higher immigrant level in areas with the most liberal immigration control laws, but that is not true (it is all over the map). You would also expect to have seen Finland's rate drop relative to Sweden's after the immigration ban went into effect, which it did not (Finland's has always been lower). .. Good point though Dagon ..
  7. Awards for 2009 - you guys are getting slow...
  8. There are a number of ways this could have been prevented, but mostly they would've had to reform the Janissary as they were the instruments of the decline.. But a best case scenario would be a strong democratic nation controlling much of today's middle-east. How they would've faired in WW2 is also something one must take into account - Germany might have chosen to conquer Turkey and move towards the oilfields of modern Iraq and Iran... which would've helped them a lot and also provided then with a better position to strike Russia, as they could've taken the oilfields near the Capsian sea crippling Russia further. So in a worse scenario a united middle-east could've been an Axis victory.
  9. Kaftan has a point. But it sound to me like she's confused as to why you haven't made a move yet.. if you are just talking and she wants to go back to your place.. no wonder she feels bored!
  10. just saw it did you?
  11. Every year they tend to have a larger concentration of some genres.. mostly its rock, but see these posters to get an idea.. 2009: 2008:
  12. You only have to put around 35€/50$ a side each month and then you'll have the money for the ticket in june.. But, you can also apply for volunteer work at the festival.. then you have to work around 24 hours in total, divided into 3 shifts I believe and then the ticket is free... better add that to the first post..
  13. Good to hear Krezack, I hope some more are considering then.. but as you say, it's a long time from now - so there's plenty of time for a change of heart for all the nay-sayers
  14. Roskilde Festival - 27 june - 4 july 2010. (4 days of warmup and concerts from the 1-4 july) Roskilde Festival is the largest North European culture and music festival - every year, thousands of Europeans and indeed people from all around the world travel to Denmark to party and have a great time for 8 days in a row. Me and Pidesco are going this year and we've been talking about making a camp, it then struck us that it would be quite fun to make an Obsidian Camp, where members could meet each other, perhaps for the first time, in great surroundings.. The ticket price is 1675 DKK (~328,5$, ~225€). There's also the option of getting a free ticket.. if you are willing to work at the festival for a total of around 24 hours (3x8 hour shifts) this is also a great way to meet a lot of people, as the workplaces tend to have a good atmosphere.. I'll help anyone interested in volunteer work, just send me a pm or write here in this thread. I'll help with any logistics if you require it, like getting from the airport to the festival etc.. So... are you interested?
  15. Actually I read a very interesting article about the major powers and why it failed.. Basically it blames everyone evenly - saying the developing countries where too optimistic and demanded too much without giving enough, the developed countries where too divided and not willing to give ground, America was too interested in keeping the status quo (power wise) and China wanted to show that it was strong enough to dance with the big boys. It also mentioned that China is investing heavily in alternate fuel sources, green energy and CO
  16. now that an interpretation of religion I can accept and respect Blank.. I know quite a few Muslims who are doing their best to show the true nature of their religion as well and I keep telling them to get on the wagon and disown those sobs that keep using Islam as an excuse to be violent.. In many ways Islam is a very beautiful belief, it's just a little too easy to misinterpret - like Christianity.
  17. I had a great party.. I was dancing, drinking and acting like a loon and I helped a friend to get someone to go home with. Now I'm still a little drunk, so the cleaning shouldn't be so much of a problem. Luckily people were behaving this time around.. last year I had to scrub my walls and ceiling as they were spotted with various drinks..
  18. I just bought Ghostbusters, Trine, Europa Universalis Rome Gold and Evil Genius.. I like holiday sales!
  19. Wait.. are you going after their mums now? Anyway - hope you all had/have a merry christmas, god jul, gl
  20. You put on a latex tutu, wore make-up and grew a blue beard? I was thinking the exact same ting.. - Just cleaned my apartment after the invasion of around 40 people (I probably have room for about 20). It was surprisingly easy, some of my guests had been sweet enough to do the dishes and clean up the tables after dinner and before the party started.. Also, I have no hangovers and I feel pretty good, so I'm ready for the next arrangement tomorrow evening! It seems we are all getting in contact with our inner Shryke these days?
  21. Urgh.. I don't think that movie is gonna be very good. Funny, in a disturbing way..
  22. Looked pretty good to me, but I'm not buying another Rockstar port (assuming the eventually make Red Dead for PC) unless I'm 100% it'll work first.. I wasted a lot of money on GTAIV since it's still not working.
  23. Damn, I hope you'll be all right.. Cancer sucks indeed..
