Movies You've Seen (or would like to see) Recently

I'm trying to think back to the new trilogy in order to rank them. I really could do with a rewatch, especially of the first two. But I think I'd rank them as 1 > 3 > 2. But 1 and 3 are probably somewhat close. Between Marvel, DC, and whatever else is out there. The big-screen is fraught with origin stories, and I think ST1 has some of the best origin material out there. I'm not particularly fond of the depiction of the Romulans, nor the finale. But I really never am with just about every action movie. So It's beginning and middle set well enough with me. Into Darkness is just utterly forgettable, I can't really say a good thing about it. It's just... more material really. 3 had it's charm, the whole crashed planet thing felt right at home. You were certainly very well acquainted with the characters by now, so it was a fun romp to watch. I could say more about all these films, but I think I'd be more interested to hear what other fans opinions are. -

I love Trek and I like Tarantino but I don't want that peanut butter in my chocolate I'm totally game. I think Tarantino is enough of a fan of classics to honor the franchise. It makes me wonder though. Tarantino announced that he plans (not set in stone, but he reinforced at the time about being adamant) that he'd retire from films after his 10th. Death Proof not counting for that final. His reason is he didn't want to stay past his prime. But ST would make is tenth and final film. I'm guessing it won't count, or his plans have already shifted a bit. I think I'll be fine with Tarantino even employing many of his trademarks elements if he at least stays true to the ethos of the franchise. Most of his films are snapshots into the story and lives of morally duplicitous or bankrupt people. I hope ST isn't about that, but I'd be fine some red shirts meet a grisly end. -
Goldblum being back is exciting, but Jurassic World was steaming condensed disappointment. It will server as a fantastic case study for future script writers of what not to do.

Better them than the publishers. Dorito pope will save us from the machine.

Aren't the VGAs different than the TGAs? VGAs where always super corporate, the TGA's where supposed to try and improve upon things. Last year was the first year, and while a bit cringy at times, was not all that bad. Recognition of Kojima, acknowledgement of the actual developers that poured their hard work and talent into games. It got sappy because I think a lot of people were really invested in building a gaming academy so to speak. I don't think the TGAs are that much of a sell out, they are also rather young. I think it's future remains to be seen.

Netflix to Adapt John Scalzi’s Old Man’s War as a Movie

Sounds like the Academy Awards.

Super Mario Odyseey is legit. Also, I'm just hoping for some exciting game reveals. I read something rumor about a Portal announcement. I think Keighly and Kojima have something planned wrt Death Stranding.

Is it because the handles are slippery? Really the important part is that the knives have a full tang.

I'm always fascinated by the variety and tastes in knife designs. So many of them are just so garish to me.

Plenty of people serve Christians through their own job descriptions, even if they wish they weren't complicit with Christian practices. In fact all of humanity is made complicit in systems, cultures, customs, etc., which they wish they weren't; Knowing and unknowingly. If making someone a cake which is used in their gay wedding makes you complicit, then not making a cake wouldn't absolve you of other transitive contributions to them. The difference with guns, is that the seller is the last barrier at which an individual could be denied acquisition of a deadly weapon.

Wait, netflix allows you to pick subtitles?

Incredible news! Jak too I saw. Now that all the consoles are on x86, that means these should now be preserved in the Sony catalog going forward. Finally! Now they just need to save the God of War games. -

Speaking of Total War, does anyone else feel like that series is evolving as two separate games at the same time. You have the over map, then you have the manual battles. Of course you can auto-resolve battles which I see a lot of streamers do. So on one hand it's this sort of class-of-it's-own styled 4x game, and on the other had a classical large army simulator. Both halves I think suffer at the hand of the other, but it does leave for a quite rewarding experience in it's own right. After their fantastic efforts with Alien: Isolation, I'm half interested in them creating stand-alone large army simulator that better rounded out that half of the game. Once they've got those systems invested in, they could pull back and start building back up the strategic over map gameplay. As of now I love the strategy, but diving down into the battles becomes a little more disappointing with every chance. No doubt why many just auto-resolve entirely. It reminds me of those jrpgs, where the game design is so set in it's ways that they just let you skip the whole game part because they haven't bothered to actually make it worthy in it's own right. Total War is one of the great strategy series, but I think it could really stand to be revolutionized. -

Rome II landed really half-baked, especially compared to their tour de force Shogun II. The mentioned maybe a month back that something for Rome II was coming. But they also have a brand new flagship era in the works, which I'm really looking forward to seeing. -

Reminds me of Dishonored + Dark Souls + Vampires. -
That's one of the worst analogies I've seen. The internet doesn't work via decentralization, and nor what comes after. Repealing the modern web, is not a great way to encourage the development of even greener pastures.

I actually once read the old old novelization of the Original Trilogy. It said Yoda was blue...

Well it can keep increasing relativistically as long as other economies write themselves money to keep up, which they will have to do if they are weaker currencies that hold their value off of another one. They can also keep increasing non-relativistically as long as our population keeps growing.

The end game of increasing the deficit is to write more checks to yourself, so the banks can get back to writing lots of bad loans.

Collect a galactic map piece was basically the plot of The Force Awakens... so it's hard to knock them there. Like you said, it made for some fun quests for the player. As far as I'm concerned Bioware died after completing ME2 and DA:O. -

I couldn't stand to play ME3 more than an hour before walking away forever. It amazes me how often a great game base that had hours of development can revert to such utter trash in the next installment.
