  1. The moral of the story is that humans are scumbags who become responsobile for another creature on a whim and throw it's life away when the whim passes.
  2. Learning a second language is good for you, anyway, you might want to get a head start, in 50 years they will have outbred everyone, the first non-white male anglo saxon president is gonna be Latino, mark my words.
  3. Those schoolgirls have the right to get cervical cancer protected in the constitution.
  4. If you haven't got a pot to piss in and no prospects and America offers a chance for you and your family, screw the law and where you happen to be from. Any of you would do the same.
  5. Whats this supposed to be ?
  6. After the renaisance and German idealism the protestant church changed with the times, at least a lot more than the Catholic church. So much so that it became kinda wobbly on all kinds of fundamentalism. Now we have priests who publicly admit they don't believe in god, and a groundswell of support for their rigth to say what they think.
  7. You can't afford to protect Amercia because you joined the NRA. What are you, a communist.
  8. All the proof of god arguments are so universally stupid, and conversely I don't think it's possible to disprove in scientific terms a concept that defies science.
  9. " Would you stay neutral when yours and others existence is at stake? Many dangers lurk, overpopulation, global warming, disease. When i made my decision it wasn't an absolute answer, it was my best guess, thats all everybody ever does" I would much prefer to believe but self hypnosis is not a skill that I posess. Whether mankind is endangered or not will not change my perspective. Agnostics are not people who haven't made up their minds, rather they accept that some questions will always remain unanswered. " You see this type of appeal to authority used ALL THE TIME. People will use an anecdote to make a point, and then say that Einstein said it because Einstein is a smart person and very introspective. ." So any kind of particularly insigthful individual's thoughts are banned from discussions where the context is appropriate because someone arbitrarily decided that those are the rules for debate. Mkay.
  10. As an agnostic I subscribe to the only failsafe belief there is ; I know what it is I don't know, and probably will never be able to answer, prove or disprove.
  11. "Are you saying that the existence of God is impossible, Gorgon? I have to disagree with that" No I don't argue that the existance of god is impossible, rather that god is outside the realm of logic and imperical thought.
  12. Not knowing who Martin Luther is is not exactly inspiring of confidence. Also, whats with the posting of dictionary/wiki definitions as if they were arguments in themselves.
  13. " No it's not. Because your statement is simply incorrect. Faith is belief without proof. It's not believing in something despite it being incorrect." It's not just believing without proof, it's believing the fantastic and the 'impossible' without proof. "Faith must trample under foot all reason sense and understanding" ~ Martin Luther.
  14. God snapped his fingers and Mary was pregnant: the imaculate conception.
  15. I don't have to prove god doesen't exist, i'm an agnostic.
  16. "^ One can only talk like that if he believes there's no afterlife. Claiming "accepting" or "knowing" it is hypocrisy " That doesen't follow, you are reversing the burden of evidence. A highly unlikely postulate has been posited, human beings have immortal souls and when they die they are magically transferred to an afterlife, for which not a shred of evidence has been presented. This is entirely akin to the statement 2+2 = 5, unless some plausible proof can be presented as to why this should be the case, it remains beyond the realm of logic.
  17. "How can you believe that when you die, you sieze to exit? Entirely, no afterlife, no consciousness, no anything. Thinking of death must leave you with a really hollow feeling." Faith is asking an intelligent person to accept that 2+2 = 5. If he does this he will live a fuller spirtual life and will not be haunted by the gloom of his own inevitable destruction. Some people however, can't accept the 5 whether they will be better off for it or not.
  18. [heavy mexican accent]Stars, we don't need no stinkin' stars[heavy mexican accent\]
  19. "Games on Linux: MS - for all of the criticisms - continues to offer the most integrated cross-spectrum stable OS for hardware. Apple pales and Linux stutters in this regard .." Really, I heard the Unreal Tournament series on linux servers ran smoother, unfortunately not a single other game comes to mind that I could get for it. If the game choices were there I wouldn't mind the hassle of getting Linux to accept all my hardware, lesser of two evils. "The machine I am writing this on has been on for 93 days without a crash or a restart. It's Windows XP Pro SP2 Swedish." Yeah, I love my electric bill too.
  20. What does that mean in the common tounge ? Anyway i'm not gonna bother upgrading unless it's inescapable. Why don't more games come out on Linux, lazy coders.
  21. I would think it would be more than 1:1 if you factor in the whole of the tax beuocracy which is not exactly cheap to maintain.
  22. What do you mean, the forum wasen't down
  23. The biggest channel here has a sports director that used to play handball, so now every transmitted game is handball. It's not very interesting to watch though, like basketball everything happens too fast to appreciate the tactical elements. At least women's handball has bouncy ****.
  24. What are the principal tenements of Hinduism, discounting the million differen't denominations.
  25. So thats pretty much what you are gonna make right, except prettier.
