  1. A plane crash is much too pedestrian a method for Putin.
  2. I see the suits still look like poorly envisioned super heroe outfits.
  3. Well it's EA isn't it. Impossible DRM highly likely.
  4. Well Eisenhower, a general as much as a president, famously said that it was unnecessary. So, yes there is controversy, but maybe you were just stating your opinion.
  5. I wonder how they are going to tackle Hiroshima. I mean they don't have to, they can just skip over it as it didn't really affect the ground troops other than a massive sigh of relief, but that would also be a copout . It's still controversial of course, there are still living survivors who are very offended by the usual American view that it ended the war (a no brainer) and saved X million lives (that's the controversial part).
  6. It's rather strange to refer to the kids in bg as 'killable' and even stranger to insist that killing kids is a persistent theme in any of the games mentioned.
  7. I usually get a hold of 2 weapons which use the most common soviet round, you find those on just about every corpse, and leave everything else behind, unless it's something extraordinary. In addition to having lots of ammo to be found they are also cheap to repair, and not so different from the more expensive guns once upgraded. I much prefer being able to run for extended periods over heavy armour and weapons. I just recently finished the prequel, Call of Pripyat. The weapons get insanely powerful and accurate once upgraded to tier 3. Unfortunately once it becomes available the game is pretty much over. I spent hours hamstering enough money to upgrade everything, go back to Pripyat and it's literally over in 15 mins. I don't think the developers really understood how people react and play the game when they finally get access to the final upgrades. Big disappointment.
  8. Both in the case of the American Indians and the Palestinians there was a 'race war' element going on meaning that they could not effectively hide among the population, and I believe it has already been established that local support is crucial to a guerilla campaign.
  9. Stalker mainly works because of good level design. The engine is ancient by now, but it doesn't matter that much. The gunplay is also good, the 'one mistake and you're gone' approach means that things generally don't get dull. In that way it's quite similar to the old ghost recon series.
  10. That was a good read.
  11. Well I don't think it should be forbidden by law either, I think this unhealthy culture, refer to my earlier posts, should be engaged by other means.
  12. I just clicked your link and I'm watching a car commercial just to get to the point where I can watch a game promo.
  13. There are actual journalists among game reviewers ?.
  14. This is how polished turds earn back the investment. I mean this is probably not one, but how would you ever know if there is no independent media out there. I certainly don't believe any exists.
  15. Edit :wrong thread
  16. Trust no one who is paid directly or indirectly by the publisher.
  17. If the Maoists somehow managed to win and overthrow the established order the country would be run by a small cadre of nationalist-Marxists who would mobilise the people in enormous public works projects and generally run the economy into the ground. If a guerilla movement rejects democracy, dialogue, power sharing, etc. it's difficult to get anywhere negotiating with them, cf. FARC.
  18. Yeah, Spielberg and Hanks said they had already done the following the group of soldiers from start to finish thing so now they were going to focus the show on how the war affected the soldiers as human beings. Consequently it's rather depressing and somewhat boring.
  19. Dr. Manhattan wtf.
  20. Undertakers are a strange breed, but at least they have experience and tact in ripping people off. Airliners ?. I mean you are lucky just to get where you are going these days.
  21. Sure we can judge another culture, we do it all the time. He's probably right that stories about how weird the Japs are tend to lead more than those on how well adjusted they are, go figure.
  22. What, like tripping over a branch and accidentally implanting your erect penis in some stranger's vagina ?
  23. Cosmonaut. Russian astronauts are called cosmonauts. Cool, isn't it. Anyway I don't think the event conformed to normal rules of physics.
  24. Nahh, pure entertainment.
  25. We do not want your Butthurt. I'm going to leave that one well alone.
