  1. Also Ponyo was nice, but I kinda felt like I had seen it already. Still better than shreck # whatever though.
  2. CGI in the background and the environment is just fine, for the main characters though it falls horribly short compared to good ol' fashioned line drawings. You sense the software at work and it just lacks charm. I don't know how else to explain it. Sometimes CGI characters work, but it isn't very often.
  3. I thought that the idea was to have unlimited ammo for all weapons because this would save considerably on development time which could be better spent on polish, not just having a lame starter gun with unlimited ammo a la.... a lot of shooters.
  4. They probably can't afford adding new animations to the engine.
  5. I forget the story to Nomad Soul entirely. All I remember about it is that all the mini games except mele were terrible, and at some point you forget what it is you are supposed to do and lose interest. It was pretty good up untill that.
  6. You know whats nice. Leather floors, with just a small ammount of padding underneath. Not cheap though.
  7. On page 1294 Anyway, ever notice how when the textures get too good the characters start to look like cadavers or those realistic sex dolls.
  8. Infinite ammo is stupid, but then again it depends on what kind of game it is. If they decided to abandon realism it would'nt matter, but that's not the feel I get from the game. Since you never actually know where LOF stands on anything I'm not going to bother rolling out the list of arguments.
  9. This reminds me of similar 'discussions' I had with my brother who is a musician. Obviously he feels the impact of music piracy very directly, his checks get smaller. There was/is very little room in his heart for the notion that piracy helps musicians. It's been established by an entire generation that Lars Ulrik (who is not my brother by the way) is a wanker, but all I can say is I've had a chance to view the other side's argument, and not all artist with a couple of CDs to their name make a lot of money.
  10. I met a taxi driver who was Albanian on my way home from work the other day. He was listening to an Albanian radio station. They are very worried that their language and culture are going to disappear and be replaced with Macedonian or Bosnian, and like everyone down there they fiercely want independence. (the minorities in Macedonia that is) I asked him if he thought things could get out of hand again, like in the war, he didn't think so.
  11. Although, we can't really be surprised. Bethesda was one of the pioneers of the salami approach to selling games after all. Man I must have clocked thousands of hours on those games. Good mindless multiplayer fun.
  12. I am not sure if this is a distrubution only agreement or more but Namco's own DLC policy makes me a bit worried: Ohh my gawd. You mean we either have to wait for the gooty edition or buy the game in tiny slices over the space of several months. DLC sales gimmics make baby Jesus cry.
  13. You need a cracked game and a cracked server. How many of the people who play there bought WOW and played it legally at some point, I'll throw out an unsubstantiated number 90% or so. Mmorphegers are not seriously hit by piracy compared to single player games, and this always online deal is obviously an attempt to mimic them.
  14. There are still a gazillion more people with computers than with consoles. Of course if publishers think they can make their games more or less immune to piracy like WOW the prospects are enormous. I bet the idea is to wane us unto allways online by selling their games in tiny fragments or having a version update every other weekend.
  15. I bought Xcom as well. Can't be bothered to play it. 2 euro well spent.
  16. Well whatever, you can afford to lose 2 quid to find out.
  17. This is exactly what I meant when I said that popular usually means crap.
  18. Remember back when the Half life code was stolen. Well apparently it wasn't stolen - Potato Pot
  19. What would stealing be in a digital enviroment. Dowloading code off a developers FTP and then deleting it, so you were the only one with a copy ?. The illustration assumes the importance of an orginal in it's definition of the concept of stealing. That seems innacurate to me.
  20. The thing about that is that in a digital environment the concept of 'original' ceases to be important. A little bit of apples and oranges going on here. The stealing illustration assumes the presence and the relative importance of an original. More to the point, Piracy is 'Robin Hood' stealing, Stealing is well, just stealing.
  21. Compare and contrast http://www.mobygames.com/game/amiga/x-com-...nse/screenshots And now screenshots from Steam http://store.steampowered.com/app/7650/
  22. It is a bit disapointing that they couldn't manage to integrate the Amiga/Playstation textures though.
  23. A risk i'll take, having just looked at my latest power bill.
  24. Don't forget random explosions! actually when you think about it XCOM already has bullet time.
