I like the way the correspondent presents an opinion that EU emembership would have been detrimental to Ukraine as fact. They aren't trying very hard to sound impartial anymore. I honestly think I can see a change from just a year ago.

Has that setting ever worked in any game during Steam's over 10 years of existence? Ridiculous really. There is a file you can edit that hides a game from the update function, or rather, the game can't 'phone home' anymore to make checks. I never tried it myself. I have noticed that STEAM will arbitrarily destroy game installations and any attempt to start the game will run the installer instead and you will have to download all the game files again even though they are already in their folder.. I don't know if this is related to DRM or updates, but I've had it happen with havily modded Skyrim and Xcom.

Spoiler much? new bsg were 2004. you figure on waiting another decade before watching? rosebud were brand name of Kane's sled. apollo creed beats rocky at the end of the movie. jr weren't actually shot-- it were all a dream sequence. the chick who kinda looked like a guy in the crying game were actually a guy. we would spoil christmas/easter/tooth-fairy for you, but sometimes you give impression of being 'round 8 years old, so we will forebear and lets you continue to enjoy your childlike ignorance. HA! Good Fun! It was actually a really cool series ruined by plot curveballs that made no sense at all. BSG that is.

Maybe it's a parade, you know, get everyone's patriotic juices flowing.

umm.. Anyway, my predictions about watchdogs stand.

It's not the map, it's the encounters, the gameplay, everything not connected to the main storyline. Assassins Creed = Farcry 2 = Ever other EA open world game, right down to the icons.
-
I dunno, I smell EA design on that. It will seem awesome for the first hour untill you realise that everything is cut and paste.

So ?, he wasn't afriad for his life once he found out that the beat him being careful not to leave any marks, because they weren't stupid, they knew that was going to come back on them. Does that make it all right ? You are deflecting with insinuations about Abu Ghraib. It's got nothing to do with this. It's certainly not relevant to the question of attempting to control the media output by intimidation.

Is someone missing the fact that this is a story about a guy who got shoved in the back of a van, well the boot of a car, by balaclava clad gunmen and was taken to the police station or whatever and beaten up for being a reporter. How do you not see the connection. I mean .... The nice lady at the press conference isn't going to be the one kidnapping you, that happens later. Unless you file 'the truth' of course. No one bothers reporters with Russian press passes, they know the deal, everyone else better learn fast or get out.
-
The context is pretty clear. Write 'our truth' or get showed in the back of a van by balaklava clad gunmen.
-
That's really telling. Especially about the way western media, and anone not towing the line, is viewed. I wonder if all press conferences start with poorly vailed threats like that.
-
I think you might be overthinking this. 'Western media' has been made the bogeyman in Russia for so long that our fellow board members aren't being objective about it anymore. There are lots of things wrong with 'western media', don't get me wrong, but the assumption is that there is something better out there, which is not really supported by the facts.

We were talking about the decisionmaking leading up to the invasian. He had a muke programme, which had been canned, and a chemical programme which was largely dismantled by the inspectors. If you know something else, by all means. Would be interesting to hear after all these years.

So ?. I'm not suggesting Iraq was justified, more that both the US and Russia do whatever they please and lie and cheat to make the public go along with it.
-
No, the Bush administration lied. They decided to sidetrack Blix and the weapons inspectiors and present a situation where there was a continuous threat from WMD. A complete fantasy as it would turn out. The media was in no possition to challenge classified material. They simply reported what they were presented from both Washington and Downing street.

Misinformation campaigns and irregular warfare was Putin's modus operandi in south ossetia as well as Crimea. A sudden 'need' for military intervention presents itself and he retains deniability. You are honestly fools to believe much of anything with an official Russian stamp of approval. Western media has a different disease. Quite often an editioral line or simply entertainment masquarading as news is what muddles the waters. There are precious few news outlets concerned chiefly with a reputation for impartiality and quality reporting.

Why is Khazakstan all smug.

For these far right politicians it is far more important to cause a stir than to say anything legible. I guess he just took it to the logical next step.

I was going for 'everything but the kitchen sink' meaning a lot... of Russians. --------------- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poles_in_the_Wehrmacht It was a matter of signing a paper making you a naturalised German citizen, or possibly be forcibly deported to go live with the 'undersirables' In addition to those, penal battalions of Poles were part of the force opposing the D day landings, and of course the Polish paratroopers on the other side at Arnhem.

"United States' claims at being a democracy seriously threatened"
Gorgon replied to JadedWolf's topic in Way Off-Topic
You can't affect lobyism or campaign finance by voting since basically everybody is dirty. Instead they have simply become examples of what is wrong with the system and the futility of trying to do something about it. -
And Polish 'volunteers' as well of all things. Most of them volunteering not to die of starvation.

Aren't you supposed to be at least somewhat familiar with ****ney rhyming slang.
