Saw Batman vs Superman. I don't know, Batman kind of left me underwhelmed. It's not that the acting was not doing it for me, but everything Batman did left me...well...underwhelmed... The whole movie lacked that wow factor. I think that if you took the action sequences from the Marvel movies and put them to use with the DC characters you would have gotten a great movie.

Ugh, I really think they won't do it justice with a TV series. The thing is even if they gut the books to the core, which would really suck, they would still need a crap load, budget wise, after book 3. I think an animated series (preferably 2d) would be the way to go, but then there isn't much money to be made there. As for movies, I couldn't imagine them getting a budget for that. I don't know, I'm not holding my breath for this one, even though I'm a major fan of the WoT series.

Well not half, but at least the first part.

I sent my monitor to service again, for the same issue. It seems these panels have issues with bright spots appearing, among other things... Anyways, I'm going to return it after they confirm the issue and swap it for a 34UC88 (curved), or if I can get a confirmation from the seller that they will getting it, the 34UM88 model (flat). Both have Free Sync which I won't be using unless I switch to AMD, but the flat model has a 75HZ refresh rate, on the other hand if the 34UM88 has the same panel as the 34UM95 (the one I currently own) I'll be running the risk of the bright spot appearing again. I had no luck finding out the ID of the panel of the new model. edit: Seems both the 34um88 and the 34uc88 are 60Hz default and 75Hz with freesync enabled.

New season of anime started. So far I'm getting good vibes from Kiznaiver and Tanaka-kun wa Itsumo Kedaruge.

I mean they are not bad, but you can't expect them to run everything you throw at them, they will show their limitation as soon as you try to do anything hardware demanding. But as your requirements are pretty light they should be more then enough. My recommendation would be to see if you can squeeze in a SSD in to the config, although that depends on how much money you have left over and how much space you want for storage.

Yeah at the end of the day you need the money to buy said stuff even if you consider eating as optional. I'm in the same boat as you, I don't like to spend money on gimmicks as I know I won't use it (my mobile has a keypad and it's not a BlackBerry), but when I know it's something I will get full milage out of I go overboard... (build thread for proof)

It's not even finances, it's pretty much what you are willing to give. Some people like to have the highend stuff and are willing to pay for it and other, smart, people know what they need so they don't end up selling their organs. Can't wait for them OLED monitors to come...

What CPU/MB do you have. It could be due to your CPU supporting a low number of lanes and the mb not having it's own chip to offset that. I have a 5820k with a rampage 5 mb and for some strange reason only the first slot offers a full x16 lane, but it's blocked by the cooler for me and when I plug in the card in to a lower slot I only get x8 lanes... So it could be a similar case with your own setup.

I was expecting someone more...hmmm...well equipped for the role.

I think they tied the key to the motherboard now, probably the MAC address.

The issues are picture burn-in and the blue color wearing out quickly. If the model Dell is releasing shows that it solved those problems (and they don't sound too sure of it themselves), there will be other brands by next year and the price will drop drastically.
-
Do you use RAPID? I'm waiting for the next gen too, but what I'm really looking forward to is them sweet sweet OLED monitors. Dell will start selling theirs by the end of this month but it's something like $5k, and it's not even guarantied that they got the picture burn in fixed.

Damn, but Limitless turned out to be a really good show.

That feeling when there is a power outage and you turn your PC back on, only to smell burning plastic... Well it works and the smell dissipated quickly, I did a quick visual inspection and nothing is standing out so I guess I'll leave it be. Either way most of the stuff is still under warranty, so...

Well, I finished the game. I would have to say that XCOM had better Macro (global) gameplay, as for the mission gameplay I can't say that XCOM 2 was better, just a little different.
-
Saw the hateful eight, the film is too damn long, other than that it's another Tarantino flick, so all in all not bad.

Playing XCOM 2 like a dirty savescummer I am.

It works! XD I ended up taking apart the laptop (Toshiba L750) to change the paste and clean the cooling system. I literally had to remove/disconnect the motherboard from everything else to be able to take out the cooler/heatsink. I regret not checking the temps beforehand, but audibly it's better. When the computer is idling the fan is at the lowest setting, as opposed to almost always running on max before. The only thing I'm worried about is that one core is heating up with a max 10 degree © difference. Either way the cooling system is inefficient as it cools the NVIDIA chip and the CPU with the same heatsink. I was able to push the CPU to 99 C with 2 instances (at the same time) of Furmark stress test. Now the only thing I'm kind of worried about is that I used the line method for CPU and dot method for GPU (didn't spread the paste my self), but I'm pretty sure the spread is fine because I screwed in the heatsink and then removed it to check if it covered the whole chip and it was fine (I cleaned it after that and reapplied the paste with the same amount). I think the system will throttle it self as I suspect it was doing before and if not I'll just redo the processes if the laptop starts crashing under load. The only way I'll find out is if I get any complaints. :D I also started hunting for spare parts for the laptop and surprisingly there are plenty out there. I was looking for the rubber feet and the rubber spacer for the lid as one of each fell out and was lost. Haven't ordered the parts yet but will soon, wonder what the shipping will cost me...

Yeah, I ended up getting a Samsung 850 pro.

Do you guys know what the 4 pins on a SSD are used for? I'm getting a new drive for a Toshiba laptop and I was going to go for a Samsung 850pro, but I noticed that all Toshiba drives have these 4 pins (even ssd). So I'm wondering if it's maybe better to go for a Toshiba drive? I tried searching the net for what they are used for, but I got no definitive answers. To even add to the confusion the answers implied that it's different from manufacturer to manufacturer.

Games you want that'll likely never exist
