  1. ''Woldan'' was the name I invented for my first RPG character, that was in Baldur's Gate back in 1998; I think my sister helped me with the name, but I'm not sure. Since then I named most of my characters Woldan and the name somehow slowly oozed into the real world turning into a minor nickname. My Avatar is a picture from the film ''Man of steel'' of Faora-Ul played by Antje Traue, my favorite actress.
  2. Yes, I'm probably having bad luck with people (as usual) but now I can see where those believing in weight lifter stereotypes are coming from.
  3. Today I tried to get some advice about a specific dumbbell exercise and received a painful reminder why I buy weight lifting equipment myself and solely work out at home and (usually) keep at least a 1 kilometer safety distance between me and gyms plus people that lift weights. 99.5% of body builders and weight lifters are extremely rude stereotypically short tempered know-it-all hyper-macho roidheads who have a kettle-bell rolling around in their skull instead of a normal functioning human brain. Trying to have a civilized conversation with them or simply having them around is such an extremely unpleasant experience....

  5. Just returned from the Hockenheim Speedway rock festival and I have to say it was the best festival I've been to so far. I could finally fulfill my dream of seeing Nine Inch Nails live, and I even made it up to the second row just before the barrier. The moshpit was insane when NIN played ''Head like a hole'' and ''March of the pigs'' (collapsed people everywhere) and the light show was amazing. A System Of A Down and Deftones were excellent too, lots of moshing. Since it hadn't rained for days the ground was dry and really dusty which added to the cool factor but also made breathing very unpleasant and soon everyone was covered in dirt. Thats why I (left) had to cover my mouth.
  6. Mine are bigger! Forearm as scale reference, and I have big forearms. Very nice pics, IndiraLightfoot, I especially love the grapes and I wish I could grow them here, but the climate does not allow it. Our summers are simply too short and changeable.
  7. Booked a hotel in Hockenheim, Germany for Rock'nheim festival this weekend. I decided against camping because I pulled a muscle in my back when I was doing 75 kg barbell military presses and anything other than a really comfortable bed gives me severe back pain. 68 bucks per night....expensive but totally worth it, a shower, a clean toilet, breakfast.... Can't wait to see Nine Inch Nails and Deftones live.
  8. You're a fan of low maintenance vegetables? Yep, when I compare my fruits and vegetables with the stuff from the grocery store the difference in taste is shocking. Guess the insecticide and ray therapy does have a huge impact on taste. Too bad I can't grow everything I eat.
  9. Good to hear I'm not the only one with this hobby here. You mentioned you have a greenhouse, what do you grow?
  10. Yeah, camping and mountain hiking is pretty unfair and sexist, backpacks for extended trips weigh around 18kg no matter how large or small you are. Thats 1/3 of the weight of a regular woman and only less than 1/5 of my own weight.
  11. I think campers built those stone circles around their tents to avoid getting trampled or bothered by grazing cows. Cows absolutely hate stepping on wobbly stones and unstable ground. At one point cows were a indeed problem, three very curious specimen decided to inspect my stuff, stepped on my tent, sucked on my backpack ate my apple chips and demanded head-patting. Even though I'm quite strong it was exhausting to push those 800kg meat piles away from my camping site for half an hour. (And they had large pointy horns, too.) With 185 cm I barely fit in the tent let alone move around in it, but its wonderfully easy to carry because of its small size and light weight.
  12. I have the option of using a chairlift that shortens my trip to the peaks by 500 meters (altitude), but I only use them when I'm having a tight schedule because of impending bad weather or when I'm injured. It always feels like cheating and acclimatization suffers noticeably when you go up that quickly. The glacier hike looks pretty cool, where is it located?
  13. Bought a beautiful sweet smelling pair of Brazilians.... Yeah, you guessed it, I'm talking about cigars.
  14. I love the mountains more than anything else, but if the weather gets bad (which can happen in only a couple of minutes) you suddenly find yourself in the worst and most dangerous place you can possibly be. Everything has its drawback...
  15. Just returned from an alpine camping trip. I spent most of the time above 3000 meters, at that altitude air pressure drops down to about 65% which gets very noticeable when you climb with a 18 kg backpack strapped to your back for hours or when sleeping. Also the temperature up there was barely above freezing all the time with strong cold winds, despite the hot summer temperatures at sea level. Pics: Small glacial lake. There are two hikers on the left patch of snow. Unfortunately the water wasn't good for refilling my plastic bottles or for a small bath, it was full of alga. View from a mountain top 3550 m / 11650 ft above sea level. Small tough plants using cracks in large rocks as natural shelter from the harsh climate. The extremely scarce vegetation up there needs to create its own micro climate in order to survive. Sunset in the mountains. My tent, set up at 3100 m / 10170 ft. Its damn hard to find a level not rocky and safe spot that offers some degree of wind protection at that altitude. Makes the search for the holy grail look easy in comparison. It might be small but it has all the comforts I need. Thats me and my trusty pair of legs which helped me to drag a total of 115kg or 253 lbs up and down those peaks.
  16. Today I realized that I'm dumb so I decided to grow me some brains. Literally. Look at my brain farm! (These are stone plants) I totally had to buy them, they're really cool. Now I'm going to start an Illithid cult and create my own elder brain.
  17. I don't find her hot. She IS good looking but in a very generic, boring and uncharismatic way, just like all those countless fashion models. I see many very good looking people every day, but VERY few with charisma.
  18. Its not just a great ranger armor, I think this would also make a nice everyday adventurer armor, the kind of armor I imagine a wayfaring adventurer is wearing on his travels. Comfortable, lightweight, flexible, not cumbersome, not drawing too much attention offering a passable amount of protection in thug ambushes and attacks in the wild from Goblins or Orcs and easy to maintain & repair. I have a hard time picturing an adventurer wearing a full plate mail all day long. Anyway, some cool outfits from the 30 year war. I love the boots the guy in the lower left corner is wearing. Thats definitely a pair of boots of speed. Must have cost him a fortune.
