  1. I think you mean Priests in fantasy lore Monks in fantasy lore
  2. When I noticed how many cool enchantments were popping up on weapons, I worried that my monk's fists would become obsolete. Level 11, now, and I don't worry about that any more. Fists stronk.
  3. I really don't know what else they could have possibly expected, when they intentionally made the aoe gain foe-only.
  4. I laughed. Have you actually tried both? Because I can't believe you actually believe this. It feels like 100% pure armchair theorycrafting and no testing at all; essentially, just a rationalization. Durance starts with quite low (for a caster) Intelligence. With equipment and resting bonuses, I can give him quite high intelligence. The difference is pretty underwhelming. Interdiction doesn't really need a larger area. His heals don't really benefit from the larger area, since it still isn't enough to cover my entire party unless we're all bunched up. Any significant buffing he's gonna be doing is going to be while the entire party is grouped up, which means the extra int is pointless since he can cover them all with or without it. The duration on buffs is pretty unnoticeable to me. A lot of them last 20+ seconds (base), meaning the fight's gonna be over before the buff ends anyway.
  5. Actually, you're describing priests. You're really saying "I wish Durance got scrapped because Priest is a dumb class".
  6. 1. Having a 100% larger AOE doesn't really equate to dealing 100% more damage. 2. How is using an intended mechanic, with abilities that were designed with that mechanic in mind, in the way intended by the designers, considered "cheesing"?
  7. Some classes scale very well with Intelligence. Other classes don't scale so well with Intelligence. What you're doing is the equivalent of looking at Rangers, Rogues, Monks, and Warriors and saying "Might is too important, we need to nerf Might".
  8. I completely disagree. NO spell is "meant to hit your allies". At most, they're meant to be hazardous if you position them incorrectly. The way intelligence creates a foe-only zone on AOEs is, in my opinion, perfect.
  9. Grats, dude, you're gonna have SO MANY fine weapons.
  10. Woedeca would have a bloody crown Skaen would have no ears or nose, and flint for eyes Wael would have constantly changing features - never looking the same from one second to the next.
  11. Imo if you really want "multiclassing" then you should just go with a classless system. Like Elder Scrolls, or Divinity Original Sin, or The Dark Eye, or SPECIAL.
  12. Only two of my party members (my chanter and my wizard) have exceptionally high Intelligence. The rest are mediocre. I don't feel gimped. My ranger wouldn't really benefit from more intelligence. Nor would my monk. Literally the only thing Eder is getting out of his 14 intelligence (4 over base) is an extra 1 second on his knockdown (from 6 seconds to 7 seconds). That's nice, I guess, but it doesn't make me want to pump his intelligence up to 25 at the expense of all his other stats. Priests don't really benefit that much from Intelligence. All of their AOEs are either huge (making int scaling unnecessary) or very very small (making int scaling worthless). The durations on their spells are already very long - longer than most fights will last anyway.
  13. Literally what you're asking for is Dragon Age. Except for... you know...
  14. Idk, probably the type of individual who would attack an armored foe who has a two handed sword with a dagger. Or a hunting bow. Or a flail. Or any other weapon which in the real world would be completely pointless against such an enemy. This is ignoring the fact that a monk's fists are generally accepted to be extra-lethal. I mean you don't criticize wands by saying "lol who would use a little stick as a weapon, that's dumb". The wand is more than a stick. The fist is more than a fist.
  15. The casters are kind of limited in builds because of the rest system. Perhaps. I want to try building a wizard as a full on spellsword, putting him right in the middle of the enemies and exploding all over them. Or turning a priest into a berserker mode holy warrior
  16. Most of the time, they're implemented in a really crappy way. The vast majority of games make unarmed attacking completely unviable, which makes you wonder why its even an option. Others give monks a sort of half-hearted nod which ultimately feels boring and pointless (I'm looking at you, elder scrolls series). So far my only problem with them in PoE is that they don't feel very integrated with the setting. There's no monk companion, no monk enemies, and there's only one very short quest which involves monks at all (that I've found, so far).
  17. This is one of those games where I can't really see multiclassing working very well. Not to mention the absolutely mind-boggling task of implementing it in a way that makes sense and isn't broken as all hell. Personally I think it's enough that you can already build your class in almost any way you want. Heavy armor? Ranged? Sneaking around? Throwing scrolls around like candy? You've got tons of options already.
  18. I totally agree, but you can hold shift to queue actions. I just wish there was a way to modify the AI. I'd like to be able to tell my monk "when you have 4 or more wounds, just spam Torment's Reach"
  19. I think you can say the same of chanters. How does having a chanter change your strategy? It doesn't for me, Kana just fulfills a sort of jack of all trades roll. My monk is a good offtank and a great source of dps. He can provide an endless supply of cc, he can jump to any target on the battlefield instantly, and he can do great single-target damage. How do Paladins fit? Or Clerics? Or Druids? Or Bards? Or Psionics?
  20. Just keep playing the game, dude. There's seriously no reason to worry so much about enchantment ingredients. There's enough unique items in the game that you never have to enchant anything ever.
