Which gaming company would you like to work for?
TentamusDarkblade replied to Whitemithrandir's topic in Developers' Corner
Surreal Software would be nice. Working on The Suffering 2 would be fun. Obsidian ent. would be a blast. I'd work there as either a designer or QA, but sadly they don't have any in-house QA (which they should seriously reconsider) But for the time being i'll stick with Monolith. We've got some awesome titles coming out and more on the way. My only regret is that we don't have an RPG division. -
<{POST_SNAPBACK}> i knew i loved you for a reason

umm...look again in the manual. All PR and marketing, including tech support, is being handled by LA. OE most likely CANNOT say anything, due to contract.
-
don't forget his "Teen Angst Fury" power that he uses all through the PT. It's uber.

please just stop. LucasArts wanted an Xmas release so the game got an Xmas release. Done and done. Obsidian got a schedule which LA short changed and they had to make cuts. Bioware most likely would have been in just as much of a bind in such a short dev cycle.

Congratulations on Screwing it up Obsidian

80% is a succes in the gaming industry. Gamespots ratings can be broken down into Ad revenue sections and IGN, well, IGN is a joke - front to back - so any ratings of theirs is dubious anyways. -
KOTOR 3 in March's Game Informer
TentamusDarkblade replied to PlagueWielder's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Game Informer is just a little bit higher on the food chain then GameBanshee. check it out It's big, it's pretty reliable, and if they printed if they printed next weeks lotto numbers i'd likely buy tickets. -
Ending the Force Bond?
TentamusDarkblade replied to TFA_Falcon's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Kreia lied. Every Jedi master you talked to about it seems dubious about a bond being that strong, to the point of being just shy of calling bull**** on it. She uses it to tie you to her, putting you in a position to stick with her. I'd even go so far as to say that she orchestrated the loss of her hand and channeled that pain into you to give her the grounding to set her lies on. It also was a great bit of insurance, since most of your other companions considered her bad for you and dangerous. If they believe that hurting or killing her may hurt you, they'd be a lot less inclined to move against her. At the end, i'd say that since you're confronting her, the previous Darth Traya, in her sith academy you've probably already figured that most of what she told you was just to twist you around. Plus, since last you saw your ship was crippled over a gaping hole in the planet, you're probably considering this to be your last stand. Force bond be damned at that point. -
KOTOR 3 in March's Game Informer
TentamusDarkblade replied to PlagueWielder's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
that could work and would make sense, but i'd rather just have a new PC and start from scratch with a new personal storyline for KOTOR3 since Exile was pretty well explored. -

Caelib is just having too much fun beating his chest about how terrible the bugs are, regardless of any logic, fact, or reason pointed out to him. -
Ideas for KOTOR3
TentamusDarkblade replied to DarthRevan2102's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
hhmm....well Exile was not Revan's right hand anything. It even says in a load screen that those whose loyalties and dedication to Revan were sent to do battle at Malachor V. Also, whenever the exile discuses anything about Revan is always in a very removed sense, they way you'd talk about someone you've met and know of, but don't really know. So says you. I happen to think you're completely wrong and that bringing back the Exile or Revan would be ill placed and useless, since they have already served their purpose in the over-arching storyline. And where do you come up with this "It's being based on a Trilogy. Trilogies have one Dominent hero" crap? It's not "being based" on anything, other than the story designs that the various studios have cobbled together for fun gameplay. And since it's already had two dominent heroes then your theory is already shot down. A new character, be it a sith acolyte, Jedi Padawan, or a joe-nobody force sensitive, can easily tell the story of the war with the True Sith, the rebirth of a stronger Republic, and give "closure" to the storyline. Look at KOTOR2 and how it put some of Revans actions in a new light. It could only do that from an outside perspective, namely from the Exiles perspective. Now in KOTOR3 they could use a fresh perspective to shed light on the events surrounding the Exile and Revan and easily close the story from that narrative view. -
Test in Korriban cave
TentamusDarkblade replied to Darth Sun_Tzu's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I've run into this bug. It seems to be failing to flag the event as completed When Keia or the other companions are defeated. Out of 4 play throughs, i've only hit it once and i had to repeat it like 3-5 times before it finally decided it was done. -

KOTOR 3 in March's Game Informer
TentamusDarkblade replied to PlagueWielder's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
well, i just saw the article and it does clearly say KOTOR III is on the way. This is also the issue where the Xbox 2 third party blackout has been lifted (check out the Condemned article ) so it's feasible that KOTOR3 is going to be a next gen title and they couldn't say anything at all regarding developing, pre-production, etc till this time. I'd be really interested in hearing from a dev now regarding pre-production of KOTOR3, yea or nay. -
Lawrence Kasdan, Leigh Brackett, Irvin Kershner, Richard Marquand, and David Webb Peoples were the folks who took ole' lucas' Flash Gordon/hidden Fortress rip off and fleshed it out and crafted it into a viable sci-fi mythology. Mitaclorians, Clones, Jar Jar Binks as a senator, the ham fisted love scenes in ep 2, and the "SUPER DELUXE RE-EDIT AMAZING DIGITALIZED VERSION DVDS" make lucas a hack and removes any respect due to the guy.

Some questions I have about Revan and TSL
TentamusDarkblade replied to Tyrell's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Ahmen to that! [rant] I really think that folks like Lawrence Kasdan, Leigh Brackett, Irvin Kershner, Richard Marquand, and David Webb Peoples deserve just as much, if not more credit for the greatness of the Star Wars Universe since they were the writers and the directors who fleshed out and crafted Lucas' Flash Gordon/Hidden Fortress rip-off into it's own solid sci-fi mythos. Nowadays it's folks like Timothy Zahn, Michael Stackpole, the design crew at Obsidian and Bioware, and the various writers at Dark Horse that are keeping star wars alive since ole' George seems determined to kill it with asinine plots, 2 diminsional characters, and plain wretched directorial and editorial jobs. good post Zilod You've summed it up really well. I'm also glad you brought that quote up, since it's a good example of what Fearless and i were discussing. -
I think Hades and i argued this same point before. My stance is that the KOTOR series story revolves around the EVENTS not the PEOPLE. Reven tells one act of the story, then the perspective switches to The exile to tell the middle act, then a third and final character tells the final act. The actual arching storyline between the series is the struggles of the Republic during this period starting with the Jedi Civil war in KOTOR1, the Republic teetering on the edge of destruction and pulling itself back from the brink in KOTOR2, and most likely the True War with the Sith and the rebirth of a stronger republic in KOTOR3. Revan was a min-arch within this arch. Revan's story of War, controlling his destiny through defeating his past. Exile's mini-arch was of Acceptance, accepting his past so he can find his destiny. Who knows what mini-arch will be thought up for the character in KOTOR3, but i can guess that his theme will highlight either Rebirth or Unity (or both). Of course, this is just my view. I Don't think the characters were the main focus of the overall story, just the focus of the individual game's story. The actual game trilogy's story finale can easily be told by a brand new character.

yup. Viet nam games so far seem to be done in pretty bad taste.

Some questions I have about Revan and TSL
TentamusDarkblade replied to Tyrell's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
nope, it's discussed that Revan could have stuck around and unified the galaxy, but left for reasons unknown. Bastila is left on Korriban to consolidate the remaining Sith there, but she can't handle the growing civil strife and takes off after Revan, leaving Korriban to eat itself. -

Thank you to Aurora And HighPriest, these are awesome additions to help other fans flesh out the "Could have been" moments. Any luck finding out more about the Dustil Onasi scene?

Does anyone else get the feeling that Atton is a force ghost at this point? It just seems like a bittersweet moment with a lost companion who is the only one who can go with you.

Wait a sec...you do driver development for a living yet you're not even sure what card you're running? wow. -
mouth breathing should also be avoided when possible. Mouth breathers are just, well, disturbing. Every 2 hours (or is it 4? i can't remember) you should get away from your desk, even if it's just to wander the halls chatting up co-workers. New stimuli will keep your brain on it's toes, increase creativity, and help alleviate many work and stress related injuries and illnesses. You should drink between 32 and 64 ounces of water a day, but only drink when you are thirsty. Remember, many people confuse hunger with thirst so next time you feel hungry drink a glass of water and wait 15 minutes. If you're still hungry then reach for the cheetos. Posture while working for extended periods at a time at a desk is the number one cause of back, arm and shoulder troubles. Always be sure to keep you back straight, your hands in a comfortable, relaxed position, and be sure to take breaks between periods of intense typing.
