  1. Good post.
  2. Wouldnt that be the case of pretty much every single fatasy game created since BG?
  3. That brings an interesting question to mind. The "spiritual succesor to BG" title has been thrown around a lot and Im not sure what they mean. Its different characters in a different universe using a different ruleset. Besides a few nods like "you must gather your party", how exactly is it a spiritual succesor to BG?
  4. Sadly, all my self sabotaging years are behind me. I pretty much did everything Wals describes; drank all night then show up at work on 2 hours of sleep reaking of booze, do "just enough" to get the job done, etc... But thats the young man life and now Im all old and responsible and its sickening.
  5. *Wall of text crits Gfted1 for 9999* I just find the irony delicious is all. Youre all RARG ALAN SMASH HYPOCRICY then turn around and be an utter hypocrit in the fact that you expect other people to respect your wishes when you bring something that bothers you to their attention yet youve known their feelings on violence most of your life and still choose to expose their children to it, just because you feel violence is ok. I suggest you defriend yourself.
  6. Crash To Desktop EDIT: Whoops, just noticed he put CDT but Im sure he meant CTD.
  7. Very interesting. So, for the majority of your life you've know that your family members dont approve, yet you continue to defy their wishes and do it. Someone should have confronted you long ago so you would know their feelings.....
  8. Didnt you see man, hes not taking this sh** anymore!!! RARG!
  9. How so? Literally the only consequence of wiping out your entire party is you might not like the replacements? Theres no level loss. Theres no gear loss as you can just loot the party members you just killed. What exactly is the consequence?
  10. You are correct, I misread.
  11. Of course, its my fault you felt the need to launch into pesonal attacks. It's certainly not my fault that you lack a sense of humor. And its not my fault you're an a$$hole. Guess were back to square one.
  12. Of course, its my fault you felt the need to launch into pesonal attacks. But alanschu has already stated the urn thing happens very late in to game, but point taken.
  13. Whos taking anything serious? Were discussing point of a game and you feel the need to add personal attacks. I dont recall ever doing that to you so maybe you need a timeout. If the worst possible "consequence" of killing your entire party and replacing them with fully leveled NPC's is that you dont like their personality, I dont consider that much of a consequence. Think about it, all you have to do is open the magical camp you carry in your inventory and *presto*, new party ready to go.
  14. Cutting like I cut myself? Dont be an a$$hole. Thats pretty much it.
  15. No, not particularly, it just seems like a lot of hot air. Tell me, how exactly could a person lose this game. Is it even possible to lose? If you cant die and it doesnt matter who you kill its just god mode.

It always comes back to coke and hookers.
  17. Yes, that's exactly it I mean, it's just good game design to permanently handicap the game player, undoubtedly rendering it frustrating for some to the point where they either conclude that they can't make the choice they want to make in the game, or just give up on the game entirely. A more astute summary would be that the people here are just upset because rather than forcing others to play the game the way they want to play it, they are forced to play it the way others want to. If the player is stupid, he should be handicapped. Just like killing everone in town (stupid) will handicap you. There is no actual "consequence" in your "choice" if you can just replace NPC's via a camp that you carry with you. Yes, obvious because theres no other way to die.
  18. So lets summarize: 1) The inability to die unless there is a TPW is cool with everyone because death is an inconvenience that everyone just reloads through anyway. 2) C&C is just a catchphrase that has absolutely no meaning because who cares if you piss off / kill your entire party, theres an entire camp of fully leveled NPC's happily waiting in camp for you to use. Also, C&C is an inconvenience and otherwise everyone would just reload instead of, you know, thinking about their actions. Also, Im curious, what happens to the NPC's that the protagonist himself slays? Do they pop tall when you leave the screen?
  19. So I suppose this also means you can only choose the skills/spells of the protagonist? With everyone in camp leveling in lockstep, the game must chooses for those NPC's, right? Or if you choose one of those guys after several levels you have a pile of points to spend on them?
  20. I get your point but I would like to point out that no, you shouldnt learn anything from being dead.
  21. Well, yeah, but you could also just have everyone start out at max level so as not to be burdened with having to raise them. IMO, the NPC's in camp getting exp "just because" is a bit weak.
  22. From what I heard, every active party member gets the full mob xp, and the camping ones get reduced xp. Interesting. So they probably even get exp when they're face down on the dungeon floor. There is literally no penalty for death that cant be fixed with a potion. I suppose thats helpful for kooks like me who would reload in BG if even one member died as I wanted everyone in the party on close to the same level, lol. EDIT: I see now that you said "active", so do dead/unconscious NPC's not get the exp?
  23. Can you explain this a bit? Lets say you have one party member and kill one darkspawn for 100xp. If you have two party members kill one darkspawn both get 100xp each? Not 50xp each?
  24. Iirc, it also lacks the overhead view.
  25. Huh, I wonder how he did that.
