Woke up this morning at 0430 and looked out my bedroom window to witness a strange white substance blowing in the wind and accumulating on the ground. I decided this was too much for me, closed the curtain, and promptly called off work.

Because it doesn't bring any additional costs to the company. I'm not saying its a good program, and it violates the hell out of privacy, I'm just trying to figure out what the "company" gains with this information? Usually the gain would a reduction in insurance premiums or something like that but that's not a concern for them anymore since everyone is mandated to carry health insurance now. EDIT: I supposed lost time and productivity would be cost sinks.

Whats to be gained by an employer having this information? Weve already been "graced" with UHC, which cannot discriminate or deny anyone for any reason, and everyone is forced by law to carry, so an employer would have no reason to know any possible medical risk factors you may carry. Its not their problem to pay for. Probably a good program for astronauts and future colonists though. Personally, I would LOVE to be genetically tested to see whats going on up in here.

Once back in the day, I was working "hazardous waste disposal" (not as dangerous as it sounds, its just garbage you cant throw away in the normal trash pickup like paint, car batteries, etc.). We would set up in a big parking lot and people would bring the stuff to us for sorting and disposal and some guy pulls up in a Lexus and pops the trunk. I walk over and look in and this guy had placed a 5 gallon container of white paint in the trunk, on its side. Well that didn't work out so good as somewhere along the trip the top had opened an the entire thing spilled out in the trunk, through the carpet, and pooled in the circular depression at the bottom that holds the spare tire. Knowing Lexus that was probably a couple thousand dollar screw up.
