My first PnP RPG was the Swedish classic "Mutant" sci-fi/cyberpunk game. My first CRPG was probably Lands of Lore or Eye of the Beholder.

Well, of course its a matter of taste.. but there's good taste and bad taste. My main issues with TotJ are not regarding the quality of drawings/coloring(even though for instance Dark Empire is much better in that regard even though its from 1991). Saying that comics were not developed in the early 1990 just isnt true. A DH example would be Aliens from 1989 by Mark Verheiden, outstanding both storywise and visually. The only one Ive come across who thinks anything of TotJ is you, Nurbs... and that guy above here.

TotJ is possibly the worst of Dark Horse's entire line of SW comics. "Redemption" was the only one of acceptable quality, the rest was just arse. The Republic series is where its at- well-written, mature, characters you actually give a damn about, plus the penciling and coloring is absolute top notch. But if DH does KoTOR with the new team and keep hacks like Anderson out of it, maybe it'll be good.

I think it has a lot to do with the situation a dev is in before financing and contracts with publishers is secured for a project. Its kind for a "dont shout yay, before you're over the river" thing. Publishers seem to have a lot of strange ideas on how to run things also(like how Atari forced the moval of the NWN2 forums to BioWare) But you're right Mkreku, its strange that every company does it almost the same way. The strangest part I think is that they release info to gaming sites, mags etc. before they announce it on their own damn forums.

Which of his comics? Sandman? Valentine? No I belive it was his childrens books "The day I traded my dad for two goldfish" and "The wolves in the walls" he did with Dave McKean. The artwork is unbelievable, especially in "Wolves.." that stuff belongs in the MOMA or Tate gallery but there it is in a kids book. Gaimans writing is also very good and imaginative. Ive got a heap of sandman comics lying around but I havent touched them yet.

I was either a Storm Trooper (usually) or The Emperor. I really didt like the rebels at all, and I could never understand the kids who wanted to be Han Solo or Lando or someone. ...when I was like 3 or 4 I wanted to be an AT-AT walker, but that wasnt really possible even when you were playing pretend. And you might aswell use the stuff on the playground. We had these really big huge wooden fortresses that was great to use as spaceships except they had a slide at the front.

I can gree that the original movies arent actually that good if you remove the rose-colored glasses of childhood. But I cant agree with the new ones being better other than on a purely techincal basis

It doesnt really matre if the story is slowgoing or faster, some stories need to be told in detail while some benefit greatly from a high tempo. What matter though is that its tight in the pacing. You cant describe some stuff in detail and then skim over others for no apparent reason. This is the hardest part in any from of storytelling be it litterature, film or a game.

Kyla, you could make a career drawing comics... or working for disney or dreamworks.

Im now level 15 with 60% One-handed and 40 strength, and the combat control is starting to feel ok now. Not good, but adequate. I still dont stand a chance against Orcs or the thugs in the lighthouse. But on gridning: its quite obvious that the devs expect you to kill every critter you see in order to gain exp a la mmorpg. If you dont, you cant beat the tougher enemies and make progress in the story.

A major bug was that I found most of the new stuff on Malachor, when it was already too late to use them. And where did the multitude of new saber colors go? I found a veridian crystal once but that was it.
