I dont know quite how the US higher education system works but what matters to a developer isnt your degree, its that you know your stuff and above all that you have something to show that proves it- a tech demo or art portfolio but preferably a game.

My regular RPG group got a visitor for the weekend and he wanted to guest GM a short adventure for us, I was actually looking forward to it. We start of session 1 with just making characters, I came there with a well-planned concept and we all sat down and got to it. It turns out we're playing Eon, a swedish RPG with very intricate and innovative rules but also more tables than rolemaster itself. The first sign of trouble was when we began by rolling our traits and calculating derived stats, he pulled out some old sheets which were obviously old characters of his and started mocking us how much our characters were going to suck compared to his. I rolled my eyes and didnt say anything. Second sign of trouble was when we were going to do backgrounds and actually put our characters 'souls' to paper. I was halfway through writing down basic stuff like length etc. when he stopped me and, obviously annoyed with me, explained that we were using the tables and only the tables. He then went on to force us to use the games background tables for every single step of character background creation. My character started out as a petty criminal, wandering, hobo of dubious morals but when the GM was finished randomizing him through the tables he was.. I **** you not.. a soldier who had been knighted and given title, money and land for his brave actions during the battle of whatever. Now currently positioned in the imperial city where he leads a platoon of elite warriors. "DUDE, WHAT THE FRIGGIN HELL HAPPENED TO MY HOBO?!!!" I screamed inside. I pleaded with him to let me do my character as I had written him but he refused stating that the rulebooks randomizer background tables were there to be used (despite it being written clearly in the beginning of those 40+ pages of tables that the whole thing is optional). He stopped every 10min or so of character creation to tell us how totally sweet his NPCs(his old PCs) were and how they were going to set us straight if we strayed from his intended course. but it didnt end there... DAY 2: The actual session We sit down and begin to play. The whole adventure starts with us walking around the town square and meeting his

I can remove Starforce using nothing but a keyboard and common sense. Cant say the same about the nastiness they put in these toys of yours.
-
Nasty ****ig surprise.... the euro DVD version fo Dreamfall doesnt use SecuROM7. It uses.. STARFORCE No wonder its behaving like it does.. gah. The only benefit is that Starforce , unlike securom, atleast have the decency to supply a removal tool

Prog ran out of steam in the late 70's, Jazz did so long before then and blues is as dead as latin. Peter Gabriel is crap nowadays, John Coltrane is dead and so is Muddy Waters. All genres die out eventually, some just refuse to admit theyre dying. Like Metal
-
You've said that already. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> See? Even I, myself is repeating stuff... we're stuck in a loop.
-
I dont get it. Why would I want to listen to some horrid Finnish GWAR clone that sounds like a watered-down Judas Priest? Music nowadays is either just inane or shamelessly recycling older stuff. I suppose the 1000 monkeys with a 1000 electric guitars have finally written every decent tune that could be written.... atleast in the metal genre

Its my impression that 95% of Americans who sign up in the armed forces to so because the army will pay for their college education or because of other benefits. Myself, I could never be a part of any military. Ive got a bit of a problem with authority, see? ( ..and Eddo is a big, fat troll )

I go to piratebay and read the .nfo file for the pirated release. Coincidentally, GRAW also uses Securom7
-
No, it doesnt appear to notice that Im running a virtual drive either. I dont know what its reacting against.

I just got Dreamfall. The longest Journey 2 but Securom7 wont let me install it on my stationary, just my laptop Isnt it an insane world where nasty copy-protections make it easier and more convenient to pirate than to actually buy your games? If I had downloaded it, I would be playing it now but.. securom says "noo.."

Expected first NWN2 campaign game time
Kaftan Barlast replied to Atreides's topic in Computer and Console
If I could play K2 in a little over 60 hours, then milking 50+ out of NWN2 should pose no problem, especially if you have a party of four to play with in combat so you can come up with some real strategies. ..and of course, I really tend to squeeze every bit of play out of a game. Since I hate replaying them I tend to save/reload to check out what happens if I do something else in a situation and so on.. -
BREAKING NEWS: BETHESDA TELLS ESRB TO STICK IT!
Kaftan Barlast replied to Judge Hades's topic in Computer and Console
Violence is ok but sex is a major taboo.. so how about we comrpomise and let you *** people to death -
Same here. Without them I would have spent all my money on DVDs and music istead of buying these wicked hardcover TPB's when I went to Stockholm over the weekend. The only annoying thing is that most of them still dont know how to use a scanner properly: Luke isnt supposed to look like a tomato in the face " And this colour-correction problem is prominent in 90% of scanned comics

Those **** are one of the pains one would get rid off if we didnt have to sell games via Wal-Mart and the like. Listening to Beethoven does not make you want to rape goats and worship the devil, and playing computer games doesnt make you want become the next Charlie Manson either. People never friggin' learn.

A dude with a boy who can turn into anything? Sounds kinky. Alright, Ill just "go down to the store" and "buy" a couple of issues right now "

I have this thing for large explosions and gunfire, it just makes me giggle with glee. 20mm Gatling cannon test firing This video came very close to making me **** my pants, I had my stereo cranked up loud and I just.. wohooo! )

I couldnt find any stormwatch. As I said Ive read issue #1-8 of "The Authority" which were written by Ellis. In the first 1-4 they battle this Chinese dude called Gamorra and his army of cloned supermen, in #5-8 they battle an invasiona army from an alternate earth timeline. Pretty basic stuff. And they were not pro-active; the villains attacked, they hit back. The main reason why I dont like it is because not once during these eight issues was there any type of social interaction between the characters and almost no background stuff. I need to have a bit of "soap-opera" drama in my superhero comics, just beating up villains doesnt do it for me. No, Im not a snob. I like plenty of mainstream stuff like X-Men or Star wars.

One of Oblivions major issues is that you dont really get a feel for your character. Its just a 3D model with some stats attached to it, you dont even see your name pasted into letters, dialogue etc. In Vampire:bloodlines I felt like my character existed, I amused myself with thinking about what she did before, what her views on things were etc. Theres no doing that in Oblivion... you're just a generic "hero of Kvatch"

Kaftan Barlast replied to Llyranor's topic in Computer and Console

And that pretty much proves you to be abnormal, just as we thought. "

BREAKING NEWS: JADE EMPIRE FOR PC
Kaftan Barlast replied to Llyranor's topic in Computer and Console
Yes, their actions at the time of putting the smackdown on anyone breathing about a PC version and the general attitude were very much "Stop asking for a PC version, its never ever going to happen" Theyre just saying they never said that now because theyre afraid of being exposed as the dirty flip-flopers they are.. and thats that. edit: and Gabs, I love you too but the word you're looking for is "hearsay". -
Ive just read: The 8 first issues and I fail to see what so good about it. Its just a completely ordinary superhero comicbook like the ones that has existed for 50 years, only slightly updated. Am I missing something here? It doesnt even have any interesting character interactions or drama.

BREAKING NEWS: JADE EMPIRE FOR PC
Kaftan Barlast replied to Llyranor's topic in Computer and Console
I remember them being quite hard with the "XBOX ONLY" thing when it was released. In fact, so hard that they said it was an Xbox exclusive and would forever be so.. never to be released for the most excellent PC
