  1. I wonder how long a speedrun of the main quest would take? Judging from what Ive seen so far I think it could be done in an hour or two
  2. People that are part of that project or a very similar one were at the Conference actually. From what the explained, its simply a question of starting an effective way for smaller indie development teams to cooperate in order to make a much bigger game that what one team could do by themselves. it works like this: You have three programmers in D
  3. Ive already pre-ordered it "
  4. Well its more than any of the first-year programmers have succeeded in making Is the sky and mountains just a flat backround image or part of the skybox?
  5. I dont know what it is, but Germans seem to have a completely different idea of what makes a good CRPG. This results in horrible games. At the conference I attended two weeks ago, ther was this german guy from the team thats making "Beowulf" that did a presentation of it and I have to say that if he took that presentation to a US/UK publisher, theyd laugh at him and then quickly pull the lever that releases the trapdoor.
  6. You could just have lowered the difficulty to 33% ..its actually fun to drop an enemy with a single good "Whack!" and see them fly with the physics )
  7. From what Ive heard here too, starting in QA and working your way up is not feasible anymore. Youre pretty much locked at the level you come in nowadays. So you're Mr. "bew-lock" and not Mr. "Bull-ock" ?
  8. I have a Creative Zen Touch and my friends have Ipods of the same vintage. The only differance between them is that I paid 2000 for mine and they 4000+ for theirs
  9. What made Ipod so big is the fact that they poured millions, and millions and even MORE millions into advertising, in order to create the idea in the mind of the public that they are the original and best. Did Creative pay big $$$ to have Letterman and Leno push their products on their shows? Nope, and thats why theyre behind. The other and cheaper brands has the same sound quality, they hold as much songs, theyre even easier to use(due to lack of Itunes) and they only cost half as much. But if you want to pay 200% of what it should cost just to be able to say that youve got an Ipod, you have the right to do that. Youre still an idiot, but you have the right.
  10. Im afraid that what is happening, is largely happening off the net or is confined to private forums and channels. What I think you should do is send an email to info@thedebates.org and ask them. If youre lucky you might get a chance to follow the June 6-7th debate via streamed video.
  11. Im buying it no matter what because Im such a huge TLJ fanboy. I dont Ive ver heard people talk about gameplay in adventure games before. What about TLJ was bad gameplay?
  12. I think Ipod is one of the worst Mp3 players out there, its all brand name and hype. You can get a 20gig player for half the price that you can just plug into your comp and use explorer or whatever to transer files, none of that Itunes crap.
  13. I think we were talking about when Numbersman went ape on Baley when he went solo whore for an hour while the rest just sat and waited.
  14. Ive just seen Chen Kaige's "The Promise", Chinas most expensive film ever. Ive never seen such a hideous amount of VFX thrown away so lightly. I wanted to like it, I did, but its really just a rather inane Chinese fairytale oversaturated with CGI. It felt like one of those cheap Hallmark productions in a deluxe package.
  15. Will you all please stop busting my chops!? Im trying to troll here, you know!
  16. -So what youre most proud of is the physics engine? -Thats right! -But Havok is a ready-to-use middleware physics engine made and sold by Havok Inc. ? -Yes. -So, the part of Oblivion that youre most proud of, is the one that was made by another company that Bethesda has nothing to do with? -I sure am!!
  17. And might I add a few bits of advice on playing online. Learnt from Enders VtM game and others: Dont split the party Dont allow solo play It might make sense in the story to allow players to go off on their own or to split the party, but what it does is alienate the other players who are forced to just sit and wait it out. When playing online it also takes much longer to play, if a player goes off solo and gets into a fight, the other players can expect to have to wait up to an hour. Its unfair.
  18. I like huge and complex game systems, the more detailed it is the more I like it. Thats why Ive always wanted to try rolemaster but Ive never met anyone whove played it and could explain the rules properly. Ive got a PDF of the 4th ed rulebook but I cant seem to get it in my head
  19. I know what would be REALLY annoying to implement in NWN2... spell ingredients!! ) "Throw a lightning bolt? No, sorry guys, Im all out of glass tuning forks"
  20. Or you can read Kaftan's Amazing Guide to D&D 3.5 ) Q. How do I kill stuff? A. You tell the DM "I attack the goblin" and then you roll a 20-sided die. You have something called Base Attack Bonus which is a value from 1-20. You add that value to the result of the roll and if the number is greater than your opponents AC value, then you hit him. Q. How do I loot? A. You just tell the DM that you loot everything of value in the room. IF he is an evil DM, he will tell you to roll a d20 and add your "search" value to the roll, if the result is higher than what the DM judges to be the difficulty number, then you find hidden loot. ..and thats pretty much it
  21. Our GM tried to do that with us. Had this weird bard follow us around, but we accused him of practising withcraft and had him hung, drawn and quartered. Sadly, it was one of the PC's that was the witch so we had put an innocent NPC to a most excruciatingly painful death. Naturally, we dealt with the PC too as soon as we found out. She had to manage with a simple burning alive.
  22. I wouldnt recommend "Dark Knight Returns" to anyone who is not a fan of DC Comics and above all, Batman. I read it because its heralded as one of those must-have-read's of the comic world and I think its overrated. IF you want Frank Miller, you want Sin City. Sure, its just illustrated pulp crime but its still better than most mainstream comics
  23. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rolemaster Since I probably wont make it to play, you shouldnt really bother with my opinions. But the only one who must know the rules are the GM, the players could just go along with it. But mostly I wondered about Rolemaster because its a system Ive always wanted to try but never had the chance to. I love massive, complex systems and RM seems fun :D
  24. I shouldnt say anything because Im in the wrong timezone and will most likely be stinking drunk by the time we play but.. if you know the Rolemaster rules, wouldnt that be much more fun to play?
  25. He's an example for all of us.. good example, bad example.. that part doesnt really matter that much.
