  1. @Karkarov, yes, but in Deadfire they don't even match the portraits that good. Inconsistency. It's not a dealbreaker in the slightest, of course. it's just something they could work on more. Like Larian did :D
  2. I propose the idea of having the characters' toes in their pictures instead of their faces.
  3. You did play Original Sin and it's sequel right? Those games are both stupidly boring unless you are a munchkin who only likes RPG's for character stats and combat, or you have a buddy to play with. Probably comes from that lack of a strong story, or rewarding exploration. That said rewarding exploration is kind of a weak point for most RPG's these days. Whatever the case, the writing quantity was huge; and they voiced it. I don't think it was less that Pillars.
  4. I'm with OP. I don't like portraits because they limit you to your character model options and importing one is a chore. I usually pick one of the (very limited) portraits that I might not even like, and then I have to model my avatar around that. I mean, how regressive is this, not to mention annoying. And of course I cannot play with a model that doesn't look like the portrait. There are two things they can do with that imo: a) make importing portraits done in-game easily b) have the option to use an insta-shot of the character model as portrait. Many games have done that.
  5. Karkarov what are you talking about man? DOS2 had an enormous ammount of written content. Maybe because most of it wasn't as boring as much content in Pillars was you thought it was "straight ot the point"? I don't know. We can't know the exact budgets of either game and how each company spends it. We only know Larian did it, Obsidian might. Larian was also aware of people not liking VO so they put various mute options. Obsidian can do the same so everyone is happy as I see it.
  6. One month won't be enough wait to play the final product. That'll be after every dlc. That said, I'm gonna play day 1 if real life don't mess this up. That's what I did with Pillars 1 and, tbh, I never encountered any bug or other gamebreaking experience. Of course I enjoyed the game more when I played the White March after more than a year since I finished the basic game but the initial experience was good nontheless. Edit: also, SonicMage you're doing it again. An unreasonably provocative thread title.
  7. How am I misinforming people exactly? I've never misinformed people on the forum so I'd like to know where this is coming from. Did you mean misinterpret? Well if you "misinterpret" things never been said, you're misinforming. If you're posting your misinterpretations as facts, you're also misinforming. You either post facts or post your speculations based on facts.Got it, If you say so

  9. Sonic, dude... you gotta stop doing this. You're misinforming people left and right non-stop. About the Divinity and VO, I don't think the game sold good because of that but it certainly was appreciated much by most. And boosted people's confidense to the company. From now on, I know Larian is capable of going the extra mile and doing more than what promised. As for Deadfire's VO, I prefer they go for full VO vs partial VO with internet geeky celebrities to match up. I don't care about Critical Role much and I know there are good actors that are not as well knows as CR, capable of doing the job as good.
  10. Divinity will be talked for the decades to come because of its design. Deadfire will always be the nostalgia gem, because, let's face it: it doesen't add that much to either the genre or the medium. It's just gonna be an awsome crpg, a great adventure and will be remebered by the fans, not the industry (hoping to be proved wrong, though). Not that we care; just saying That said, I doubt any dlc is gonna be "more voice acting" and, tbh, unless it is free, I wouldn't like it either. I'd like to see continuation of the story in at least one of them, so, if the others are side stuff, I can check them out as I continue my storyline. In short, no White March this time around please
  11. I just hope they're going the "putting budget on "famous" voice actors instead of full voice acting" way.
  12. Tbh, I usually don't want to know the voice actors beforehand. Now that I've learn that Mercer voiced Eder and Aloth I'll be imagining his face when I hear them talk. Not to mention I'll know they are the same voice :D
  13. How can one know? Apart from Mercer that voiced Aloth and Eder and will be voicing them again, we can only assume that males will voice males and females will voice females Most probabaly we'll learn during next week when they announce more. Maybe some video with them talking about the characters they're voicing etc.
  14. Maybe their involvement has to do with it. Obs guy said they'll announce more stuff regarding this next week. That would be great, I'm still hoping for it but not expecting it at this point. They've had a some pretty good opportunities already to announce it like when the game was delayed or two weeks later with the Official Features Trailer and now here at PAX. The delay announcement would have been a great time to do it in order to blunt that news with something pretty big and unexpected. Or announce it here at PAX while all sorts of press is around, do some followup interviews where you drop some big numbers on how many words, lines and NPCs are in the game and number of VAs that are involved and you'll see dozens of articles all over the internet about the game popup talking about how big and impressive a feat this is. Obviously it's not that easy and there's a lot of ground work involved with any of these announcements, but just look at all the coverage Larian got with their VO announcement vid. They got tons of press articles talking about it and how impressive it was for a game like theirs. So that leads me to thinking they simply don't have Full VO to announce and instead it's still partial like it was in PoE. My only guess as to why they might hold off is if they are still putting together the Audio Backer Update to present this with all the bells and whistles and/or they're holding it back till closer to release to generate a bunch of hype that lasts to release. But either reason seems a bit risky and foolish to me. Critical Role is a very talented group of people, but they're still pretty niche/unknown even among cRPG and Role Playing fans. They would have to have realized that announcing full VO in conjunction with that would be far more meaningful to the larger audience than just Critical Role alone, if that was something they could in fact announce as well. Pax is agood place to announce such geeky stuff I suppose

  16. Never heard of it. Are they actually voice actors or is this a Felicia Day type promo stunt? They are some people gather round playing DnD and stream/upload it. That's about it
  17. I don't know who that is out of their teens will be ecited by such an announcement :D Anyway, hope they announce something to the lines of "vull VO with this one" as one of their "many new announcements in the week to come".
  18. They just announced that the entire Critical Role team will make voice-over in Deadfire. OK I don't care much tbh (if at all) but many will be excited (i... guess...).
  19. I'd prefer a remastered Pillars 1 and 2 in the engine of Pillars 3.
  20. 40% of the game mechanics-wise maybe, 'cause I doubt we've seen even 10% of the overall product.
  21. I usually don't get all mad about it unless a game really really sucks. If some class doesn't feel interesting (like playing a fighter in any DnD crpg) I just pick something else (sorcrers and druids are usually fun). In a story driven game class design is only a fraction of the enjoyment imo. If the game is good in general I can easily overlook a not so well design. Now if someone is so glued to a particular class/playstyle in every rpg that refuses to play anything else, and it just so happens it's the one (among numerous others, though) that doesn't feel all that well developed in Deadfire, well, it's half their fault imo
  22. It's about quality not quantity. What I get is that even though there enough choices right now, many seem boring or uninteresting or not worthwile. It's a valid point, though I have to say, as a non-hardocore player (meaning I don't do multiple playthroughs) I found many talents of Pillars 1 not that useful too and others almost mandatory. But I can imagine experimenting players could use many of those felt useless to me.
  23. Allignment system must be killed with fire It's no wonder no rpg other than DnD follows it. And Wizards won't change it because it's iconic of the ruleset, like its dice use and attributes. Thankfully in pnp you can scrap it entirely if the group wish so. I haven't played pnp DnD but if I ever do, unless it's a one-off adventure, I'll insist we don't use it.
  24. Hopefully acts are determined by critical path actions and change after player makes them, so they are, in an extent, determined by us. Something like Baldur's Gate 2 chapters 2 and 3 in Athkatla.
  25. What what what? That's what I did. Although, I'm not certain I killed Simoc...
