  1. I don't see the big deal. If the game is doing what you want it to do then I see no need to fiddle with it. It's not like your movements are being directly carried out by the character. Only abstract orders. What seperates it from a TB game,is that here you can jump in and change things at any time. You dont have to wait for your turn to come up. For that reason I dont see how a TB game where you are watching the non active characters is any different. And is in fact inferior, because you can't intervene at any time.
  2. "Mr Rimmer. If it was any larger you would have a serious balance problem".
  3. The Nintendo handhelds do rather well. The problems I found with the PSP is twofold. Really short battery life. Most of the games are really not suited to on the move play.
  4. Perhaps they are taking full advantage of Blu Ray.
  5. Should make a good movie. The second one was practically a movie anyway. I enjoyed watching someone else play it much more than I did playing it.
  6. I havnt seen my PSP since Tales. TB games suit handhelds since you need to switch them off at short notice.
  7. Thats the one. I didnt see it in any sort of context (just a pic). Hope they do something like that would make racing games much more fun. The gun is pretty cool , looks a bit nose heavy though.
  8. Its an actual wheel the remote slots in the middle. I did see a pic but I lost track of where Looks like Pilot Wings can be added to the list too. Don't have a link , but I will try to track one down. Now thats a game that was just made for a freehand controller.
  9. I share your antipathy , not because it's an NwN game. I'm just burned out on D&D and the FR right now.
  10. It would have been a real suprise if they had anything significant to show on the Sega game.
  11. The name isnt familiar. Do you know anything about the remote slotting into some sort of floating steering wheel designed specifically for racing games ?
  12. Just finished Dragon Quest VIII. Nice ending. Comes up with a * after saving and there is a teaser right at the end so there must be some bonus areas in there. Guess I'm not quite done. Did a couple of operations in Trauma Center. By the end my hand was shaking 16 seconds to go and I messed up closing three times which is about the simplist task there is. It was intense.
  13. The more combinations you have the fewer you can devote to any one combination. Lets say you have 5 lines of dialogue. If you only had a single possible character every line could relate to them. If you had a variety of races and classes, then the dialogue would need to be somewhat generic in order to apply to the full range. You can see it quite well on KOTOR. On Telos you can be one of three classes. By Dantooine you are a Jedi at which point the dialogue becomes more Jedi specific. Because at that point you will always be a Jedi. After the third planet, people start to address you by name and refer to your old exploits. Because at that point you have a fixed identity.
  14. No ,but I did add to one. I heard an analyst predict that Wii would flood Japan and didnt even grin so I can safely say I'm over it. By the time the machine is released, anyone still giggling has issues. It even made a spot on the BBC so it's definately gone beyond the internet.
  15. I think Nintendo have realised that the old design has reached it limit. It puts people off gaming (which is why nothing has sold close to the sort of mario numbers on the NES). It also hasnt changed since the PS pad was updated. I don't normally play sports games. I find them a bit pointless, the controls are totally abstract but I read the preview of Madden on the Wii and I wanted to play it.
  16. Add a letter to ipod (in the same way you add one to Wii to get the other spelling).
  17. Thats a mental image I so didnt need. I dont recall being in need of cheering up in recent years. But I used to buy stuff. That always made me feel cheery.
  18. What do you mean by broken ? It does seem kind of backwards since I had a better warrior in someone who didnt take warrior related skills than someone who did. Does that class as broken ?
  19. They look really pretty. But also kind of bland (as in not much going on in them).
  20. I just came across a new recruit for my monster team. I'm stuck on rank B. They should be able to win in theory, but the AI really likes to make dumb moves.
  21. Dragon Quest VIII Having fun flying around finding new areas. Found one with lots of slimes. Slimes give silly ammounts of experience.
  22. JRPGs are quite different in that the characters already have established personalities. Playing PST is nothing like playing a JRP in that respect since you still have to go through the motions because the character provided cant remember his own name. But having done that, you still end up with the same outcome. Difference as I see it is this. In a JRPG you lose nothing by having a pregen anyway. In a game like BG you lose the whole aspect of creation from the D&D rules. And having your own protagonist. In both cases if you end with a pregen you dislike your not likely to enjoy the game. Where as if you have a character you create yourself, thats rarely a problem as people dont tend to create characters they dont want to play.
