2 other, like, NWN2 previews
All this from one questionable preveiw. I don't disagree that asking questions is a good thing. However look at the way things shape up. There is always more than one preview from a variety of sources. You have E3 around the corner and people are going to be asking even more questions. I'd call it an over reaction.

30 hours sounds like they split the difference. It was never worth getting worked up about the 20 hour thing with so many previews still to come.

ESRB
I'll just do the UK version. The Euro ratings board Pegi. Is for the most part voluntary. In the UK anything which could be considered borderline goes to the BBFC (which is the same organisation that rates movies).

BREAKING NEWS: BETHESDA TELLS ESRB TO STICK IT!
I think the golden sales period is over anyway. Wonder if this would open the litigation floodgates from parents who bought the game for 15 year old children ? We are after all talking about a society which will sue if they spill hot coffee in their laps.

SEGA countdown
What do you expect ? This is a board for a company that makes RPGs. Sega's lineup thus far has been rather insipid. It's not suprising no one really cares much about it.

I don't think I could sit that close to something like that.

Would have bought it. But got rid of the Xbox.

The MMORPG "bandwagon" effect...
Yes I know exactly what you mean. It describes my last year of EQ pretty much. In the end it's your choice. I've gone through a lot of MMPORG friends over the years. In the end I decided that real world is more important than a virtual life and if they can't understand that then I'm better off making a clean break. MMPORGs are like the Matrix. You have to find your own way out.

More stupidity abounds!
If you read the quote it's clear the ESRB feel Bethesda misreprented the final product in order to get a lower rating.

Shadowrun at E3?
If they just remade the same game as on the SNES but with updated features I'd be extremely happy.

Shadowrun at E3?
The SNES version was way ahead of it's time

After discovering the issues in "post-release monitoring and play-testing," the ESRB initiated a review of the game's original ratings process. The board cross-examined the tape Bethesda submitted with video taken from the final release of the game, and ultimately determined that the developer understated the detail and intensity of the blood and gore in the game. In reference to the nude skin, which is inaccessible during normal play and so couldn't have been included in the taped submission, the ESRB said publishers are required "to disclose locked-out content during the rating process if it is pertinent to a rating," and that Bethesda failed to do so.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}> When was Max Payne released ? Nude mods are not anything new but the attitude to content has changed. I have a sneaky feeling that most of the people on the thread would be quite overjoyed with some sneaky explicit content (be it more blood or whatever).

Sounds like a lot more effort that just "flicking a switch".

No idea what those are. I'm only talking about things that are already on the disk but not enabled.

Maybe. It depends if things like this become the rule rather than the exception.

I said in Bethesda's case it was more than likely an oversight. But not with Hot Coffee. If prevents other developers from making such oversights then it's done it's job.

More stupidity abounds!
Not if the developer is being honest in portraying the content. This would be bad both for the ratings boards and the developers since the process would go from watching a video for a couple of hours to having to invent possible 100's of hours investigating the game.

You don't need to play something to rate it. Your not reviewing it for play your reviewing it for content. You can do that just as easily with a video. However the video you are sent must be representative of the content. IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT CORRECT ANSWERS ARE GIVEN TO THE ABOVE QUESTIONS. A WRONG ANSWER COULD RESULT IN THE CRIMINAL PROSECUTION OF YOUR COMPANY AND/OR YOUR RETAILER CUSTOMERS IN THE UK. IF THE ANSWER TO ANY OF THE QUESTIONS IS

Hang on I'll post a form. It's long mind. Why leave it there ? Why take the risk of it being found ? Surely you would be as eager to protect people according to the ratings as the ratings board.

More stupidity abounds!
That's not unusual. Lot of the ratings are down to the honesty of the developer/publisher.
