Pretty much my thoughts exactly, although I'm apparently incredibly slow at playing (took me 87 hours to go through DA:O the first time, while many players were saying they finished in 25 or so. Still don't know how they did that). Oddly, my confidence in a good, long, meaty game will be boosted if Obsidian delays the game by several months. Anyone else feel that way as well? They have already done that! We're not getting the game in April 2014 as originally projected!

I'm hoping the game will end up with a good 40 - 50 hours of gameplay what with all those "the game gets bigger" stretch goals we hit. If the mega cities are done right there should be a ton of content that can reuse a lot of the same areas. Not everything needs to have new areas to support it, and not everything requires voice acting. If BG2 is 80 hours, I would love to see at least around half that. I may be dreaming. Glad to know I'm not the only person who tries to remove as much black as humanly possible from the IE maps!

New Kickstarter incoming

I think Obsidian could do better with darker setting than Star Trek. Maybe Farscape, the schizophrenic under-rated tv series' game by the under-rated studio. It has a great name and it was awesome and it fits the great writing talent at Obsidian... I can see it! Are you saying you want them to produce an under-rated game? I'm saying 2 negatives might produce a positive thing =P Wow, talk about your long shots. -

You know what I would love? I would love to know what Obsidian is actually planning. Far more than I want to know what all the folks on the forum would want. Maybe it's just me. -

Well, and personally Diablo 3, while a good game in many ways, is a rather large disappointment for me. More time doesn't necessarily = a better game. I used to have a lot more faith in Blizzard, but they have sort of lost me more recently. As for PoE, if the original estimate was April, and we have already added 7 months to that, I'm hopeful for a game that delivers to schedule AND is utterly awesome. And to say I'm hopeful doesn't fully capture it. This is my expectation as a backer, and someone who has trusted Obsidian with my finances. Expansions and sequels can serve as those extra development opportunities to push the bar even further (would be nice if sequels provide improvements to earlier versions of the PoE engine). -

Thanks for posting that link Cubiq. I was completely unaware that such an interview ever occurred. -

Don't get me wrong, I'd rather them take their time and get the game right. But their claims during and shortly after the Kickstarter were that all of the stretch goals had been carefully planned out in terms of their impacts to delivery timeframes, and that they could simply ramp up the size of their team to accomodate the expanded content in order to still deliver on time. That said, I don't hold it against them... too much. I've worked in project management enough to know that it wasn't practical to have fully planned out the full impact of all of those deliverables... especially when it wasn't at all expected that the Kickstarter would be so successful. I do very much hope I'll have this to play during my downtime during the Christmas 2014 holiday though. -

Are you speculating as to whether or not this thread is 12 pages of speculation? Yes! Seeing that pages 11 and 12 seemed to be of the speculatory variety, I provided my own level of speculation as to the contents of pages 1 - 10! Well Obsidian has stated intent to start another Kickstarter once they can show PoE in a playable state....which would be later this year. But no decision or announcement has been made about what title or game would be next but they did say it's likely going to be a licensed property....so an IP they don't own but I'm guessing known quantity. Kind of funny considering that the Kickstarter site still shows an estimated delivery (i.e. completed game) of April 2014, and we still don't have the game in a playable state 3 months prior to that. I don't recall ever seeing an official explanation as to why the delay is occurring, I simply note on the backer site that we are now looking at December 2014. -

This thread basically looks like 12 pages of speculation. Do we have any solid information about this supposed new title yet? -
Strange that the name has been changed to Pillars of Eternity basically everywhere else, except for the FRONT page of Obsidian.net (the drop down that appears when your mouse hovers over the Community link). Seems like the front page would be one of the most important places to update this. I wonder why Obsidian hasn't done so? Conspiracy theories anyone?

What does "mature" mean, anyway?
Marceror replied to Endrosz's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I'm pretty sure that mature means that we'll have cutscenes from Deepthroat in the game in order to represent blossoming relationships... because it's good for the story, of course. -
Kickstart Backer Badge
Marceror replied to Gfted1's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Calmar I do not believe you have completed the Pledge process. The listing is only populated with a badge when that is done. I participated in the original Kickstarter last year. I have Project Eternity in my backer history in my KS profile and I got a confirmation e-mail from Amazon Payments. What else it there to do? I see the "Pillars of Eternity Backer Badge" and the "Pillars of Eternity Kickstarter Badge" listed in my profile. You don't have the PE Backer Badge yet. Have you completed the Pledge Management process? Too bad there's not a way to make this an auto reply, so you wouldn't have keep typing it over and over and over. -
Issues with NPC/Item Surveys
Marceror replied to AlphaWhelp's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
No takers, huh? Too bad... Would have been cool. Try to design your own suit of armor then, and see if Obsidian goes for it! Sorry, I'll get out of the gold peoples' thread again. -
Hey, I truly didn't understand what you meant. It's a big internet, with lots of acronyms flying around. I know you not, and PoF could have meant anything, really. It might have been PoE, or something else. Sorry, it's what can happen when typos occur in a key part of a message. But no one is coming down on you for it. Didn't you see my immediate reply (Feliz Navidad)? Or the one where I said it wasn't a big deal? Anyhow, back to the Merry Christmases.

Issues with NPC/Item Surveys

I guess I better get out of this thread before property values begin to drop. I'll just have to take my custom trash ideas elsewhere... where they'll be appreciated.... -

Yeah, I'm having problems desiging the custom trash that will litter one of the streets in Project Eternity. But I suppose that my problem will have to wait till the more important folk have been helped.
