My flesh is weak. Weak!

Which ironically, is also the bad thing about the beta. -
Did I quote you ANYWHERE in my post? No. So calm down. Firstly, I'm totally calm (perhaps you missed my smileys) Secondly, I was mostly just being humorous (again, perhaps you missed my smileys) Thirdly, and finally, is "quoting" now the exclusive method to respond to what someone says? I was talking against multiplayer in PoE, and you come in with a "not sure why people are hostile" to multiplayer. If you weren't commenting on my post, than it would seem that you were just being completely arbitrary. I went ahead and gave you the benefit of the doubt that you weren't doing that, so my bad for giving you that level of credit! (again, I'm calm. I'm just messing with you here)

Those SAG dudes are pricey I hear. So I hope that means no cashola for them this time. -

That's an even better one to link Leferd. Nicely done! -
Didn't I just get done saying that I didn't think multiplayer "wasn't" inherently bad?? Now suddenly I'm "hostile" toward it!?! I fully expect to be labeled a multiplayer serial killer at this rate, after I make this post. The reality is that for multiplayer requires a nice chunk of cash to implement it well. For this particular game, I'll for that nice chunk of cash being used for improving the single player game. You might think there aren't trade offs, but there are. I personally would like to see PoE remain in that >1% of games that doesn't pursue multiplayer. So yeah, tell me how I've just killed multiplayer's unborn child by deigning to make such a post!

As did Torment? Sheena Easton was Anna, for crying out loud. Am I supposed to know who that is Whippersnappers! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dcAJ9siMseA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=huNejF17gzg -

I'm not going to try to micromanage the details, as I'm in no position to do so. I will just stick with the "I hope they won't break the bank on VO comment". -
What race will you play as?
Marceror replied to Barothmuk's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I'm undecided at this time. I typically go with a human, but a godlike could be a fun variation on that (even though god-like aren't necessarily a human sub-race, as they were in DnD). I rarely play shorties, so Orlan probably won't be my choice. But the Aumaua is a possibility. -

As did Torment? Sheena Easton was Anna, for crying out loud. And Jennifer Hale voiced Fall-from-Grace and Deionarra Broken Age has top tier actors voicing it, so it isn't impossible for Obsidian to hire such talents to voice PoE if they want. If OE does this, I hope they will do so sparingly, and where it really counts. They are plenty of top rate voice actors who aren't "top tier" and so you get an awesome result for a much lower cost. Gotta be frugal with that 4M. -
I was expecting a reply like this. Its inevitable that threads like this will repeat, as they always do. My time is extremely limited, so if I don't see a similar topic in the first couple of pages, I figure it's fair game. Mods are welcome to close, merge or whatever if they feel it's warranted. That's why game forums have moderators in the first place. On topic, yes, Aloth. Where did I get Eldoth? Silly me! And I guess Edair has since been renamed Eder? I really thought he was a fighter for some reason, but I'm happy to be corrected. Thanks. To be fair, that thread was a "race" thread and not for class. When Eder was Edair, he was a fighter. Wasn't Eldoth Kron, a bard NPC from BG? Hey LeFerd, thanks for confirming. I had noticed the race thread too. Yes, Eldoth was in BG1. My failing memory must have morphed him and Aloth! Though I managed to keep Edair straight, even though he isn't Edair anymore! I can't win!

Sorry to be contrary, but here's to hoping that the expansion doesn't include multiplayer. Nearly every game feels compelled to be multiplayer anymore. And it seems like either significant development time is spent on this (in lieu of other features) or the MP functionality sucks. I have always applauded PE/PoE for being a focused single player game, and I hope it will remain as such. Vs. tacking something on at the end that may not be that good, and will result in less single player content. Well of course the end result wouldn't be any good if they tack on something bad at the end. Multiplayer is not inherently bad though, it all depends on how it is implemented. For example, I was really surprised at hearing Mass Effect 3 would include a multiplayer mode, and wondered how it could possibly work, but in the end I ended up having lots of fun with it. I bet multiplayer could be a lot of fun in a Pillars game (but wouldn't guess they'd implement it as soon as the expansion), with a friend on skype and the slowdown instead of pause mechanic. I'm not saying that multiplayer is inherently bad. Just that the gaming world is inherently drowning in it already. The world needs more focused single player RPGs, IMHO, and I'm thrilled that PoE is poised to help fill a portion of that gap.

A few select Cameo's from the IE games would be great, though OE shouldn't break the bank with this. -
I suppose this question can relate to the upcoming beta (err, demo), but I'm probably more asking about final release. It's sort of hard for me to answer at this point, because I want a balanced party, and I'm not totally sure what companions will be available. As I recall, we have Cadegund who is a priest, so I likely won't start with this. Eldoth is a wizard, so this probably won't be my first class. Forton is a monk, so probably not this. I think Edair (did his name get changed?) is a fighter. Sagani is a ranger. I recall Adam mentioning an Orlan Cypher. I'm not sure if the final two companions have been discussed, but I don't see a rogue listed yet. So I think I'm leaning toward a Rogue or a Chanter. I'm assuming that one of the companions will be a rogue. It seems like all cRPGs have a rogue companion available. So that leaves the Chanter, mainly because I want to see what this class is all about.

There was also an AI Script - None, which I believe would be applied when you played a multiplayer game, and created your party from scratch, IWD style. Anyhow, my original point was, the concept of party members not attacking should be something relatively familiar for players of the IE games, since even just by turning off Party AI, there would be instances where you party wouldn't automatically attack. -
Err, it does. Just because some other game's beta testing means testing of whole game doesn't mean same applies to other. Heck, alpha testing of some games vary greatly <_< Technically Minecraft was alpha when people started to buy it in masses and it already felt like complete building game. There was no real difference between "released game that has frequent updates" and "unfinished game to which we are adding features" when it came to that. Sooo yea- Wait a minute, are you on Wasteland 2 forum with exact same username? Huh In the strictest sense I'll concede that you are correct. Technically, even if a person only tests a single quest during beta, they have "beta tested" the game. That said, when Obsidian claimed that backers would have an opportunity to beta test the game, I know I was expecting a much larger scope the 4 side quests. It's sort of like if someone invites you out to dinner. The expectation is that you're going to go and order yourself a meal. But if when you get there, you're told you're going to receive an empty plate and your host will push a few mouthfuls of his meal onto for you. Well, technically he's taken you out to dinner, but you haven't exactly gotten a meal. That's what the idea of 4 side quests seems like to me. It's like you're going to be a beta tester... psyche! You just get to play these same 4 quests with 13 different classes if you want. Talk about over promising and under delivering. As for the Wasteland 2 Marceror. I hear that guy's a total tool. Okay, gotta go now. Off to check my Wasteland 2 account!

Sorry, but this is wrong. When party AI was turned on, then the AI script assigned to each character would kick in. If there was no AI script assigned (i.e. AI - None was assigned) those parties members would never attacked unless the player ordered them to. Easy to overlook this I guess, since usually characters did have an AI script assigned. But any rate, getting off topic a bit.
