When will 1.04 up for down? What does that even mean? -
Where is the Pliambo per Casitas?
Marceror replied to Dystar's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Pliambo per Casitas? I wasn't aware that Spanish was spoken in this world. Que Bueno. -
Hi endolex. I see that you're a backer, so hopefully that means you paid attention to the sort of games that PoE set out to succeed, such as BG, IWD and PS:T. All of those games included friendly fire, just as did the tabletop RPG they were based after, Dungeons and Dragons. At the time, the thought of a someone standing in the middle of a fireball spell and not having a risk of getting charred was unthinkable, regardless of who may have cast said fireball. I realize games like Dragon Age 2 and Inquisition have dulled our sensibilities to the logical manner in which many of these spells and effect should work, but yeah, Pillars of Eternity is getting back to its roots in this regard. And gods bless Obsidian that this is the case. I think with a little time you will adjust and adapt and become effective with the system, just as so many of us have.

I'm pretty sure that it's Josh's likeness on the Triple Crown Solo achievement in Steam. So, does that mean he's the poster child for triple crown solo? As in he's beaten the game in this mode? I mean, if his image is going to be used to represent the achievement, one would hope that it's because he has actually completed the achievement himself. Anyone in the know care to comment? Anyone? Ah.... yes, you sir! <waits>

Well, geez, if a guy named Angry Joe loved it, who am I to argue!? Um, incidentally, why do we particularly care that he liked it again? I must have been absent from class the day this was covered. I happen to love the game too, but this is irrespective of the opinions of Angry Joe and his sidekick Other Joe.

Seems odd that people are posting issues in the Backer Beta Bugs and Support Forum. And most of those seem to be related to the full game anyway. I think ya'll would be much better served by posting in the Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support forum. Just a friendly heads up!

Baldur's Gate in PoE's engine
Marceror replied to Gwynbleidd's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
What? Are you running on the same 14" monitor as you were back in 2000? The character models are infinitely (no pun intended) more detailed than those in BG, as are the armors, weaponry, etc. The 2D maps are much higher resolution, and the animated water, trees, fog, fire and lighting effects are so far beyond anything that was present in BG. -
Baldur's Gate in PoE's engine

That sure sounds like a waste of Minsc. -
For what it's worth, I was going to put the words *** d***** in spoilers for the extra sensitive among us, but apparently I've already lost the ability to do that. EDIT - Funny story, I was just reading another thread in this very forum where someone mentioned killing another type of dragon. No one seemed to think there was a spoiler to be found in that thread.

Additionally, there is a Steam achievement for killing all the dragons in the game, which anyone can see. So I'm not totally clear on what the perceived spoiler is. The fact that I "let slip" about a dragon being in the game (which Obsidian trailers for the game have already shown), or the fact that they can be killed (can't everything?). Or is it the word sky? Apologies if you feel spoiled. Certainly wasn't my intent, and I'm not really seeing it in all honesty.

I love the magic missile spell in IE, but I'm rather happy with the missile line of spells in PoE as well. What I don't miss is starting at level 1 with a silly, single missile that does such a paltry amount of damage. It's nice that in PoE I actually can cast some more impactful spells right from the beginning. And then I can get better versions of those spells as I level up, that work a bit differently.

Baldur's Gate in PoE's engine
Marceror replied to Gwynbleidd's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
If we were going to remake an IE game in the PoE engine, my vote would be for PS:T at this point. We have enhanced editions of the BGs and IWD at this point. I wouldn't mind a modernized PS:T. But that said, I agree that I'd rather see Obsidian continuing to focus on making games within their own IP. -
I'm not sure I've gotten to the battle you're talking about yet, so I may be premature in responding. But based on my experience in the game so far, plus many, many... many playthroughs of the Infinity Engine games, winning the tough boss battles without a lot of difficulty tends to come down to tactics , as well as having certain party combinations. Anyhow, that's just a few random thoughts. Hope they help, and good luck. I put them in spoilers just to be safe.

It's Friday. I think I'm pretty much getting over an annoying illness. And I'm taking my family out to a nice dinner. I killed the Sky Dragon today. I took me 3 tries to do it without a total party wipeout, but still, I'm feeling all kinds of ****y. Best yet, I've got my shiny new Pillars of Eternity t-shirt on, and when I get out there on the town, the world isn't going to know what hit them. That's right everyone -- nerdy gamer... dad guy is about to paint the town adra! I almost feel sorry for the hapless folks who're about to have their worlds rocked, and they don't even know it! I'm just a pillar of awesome right about now.

Just like the subject says. When party members are removed from the party to make room for others, then added back in, their personal records are wiped out. I would like request that these records become cumulative over the course of the game, as otherwise the information has very limited value. I believe, this is how it worked in the IE games. Extra credit if you can add a current chapter record in addition to the total game record!

Why does Obsidian have physical offices?
Marceror replied to Malignacious's topic in Obsidian General
I've been to the Obsidian offices before. There's actually no people in them. Just holographic projections from the employees who actually live in assorted bunkers under the Earth's crust.
